Beckwoman's Hippie Emporium

A hippie paradise! The owner has so many stories and an item to match each one. Good prices, a fun experience. Definitely stop by if you're in the neighbourhood.

I read some negative reviews about this owner, her hours, and her "no browsing" policy. I did find the owner opening at noon somewhat odd, and the store looked closed when we got there. The owner had left a note on the door to knock or phone, because she was in the back room, and that if you "know what you're looking for" it would be no problem. She came to the door immediately, and we told her we wanted to check out her tapestries. She graciously welcomed us in. We stepped in, and there was stuff everywhere! Hanging from the ceilings, stuff all over the floors. There were 2 narrow makeshift hallways that she ushered us through to the back. She went above and beyond, showing me every single tapestry she had personally, and I found her fabrics to be of good quality and comparable cost wise with most online retailers. Over all it was a very memorable, positive experience. A real hippie paradise. I can't wait to go back

I wanted to look at some things for my new place and I was hoping this store might sell wall hangings or maybe some ornaments so I went for a browse. I was about 1.10pm and there was a lady hanging some products outside the store. As I went to walk in the Woman stopped me and asked if she could help with anything. I asked if the store was open as I could sense she didn't want me to walk in. She said it is if I wanted a specific item but not if I wanted to just browse. I said I wanted to have a look around and then she quite rudly said no. I found her tone to be very rude and as a whole she was very off and dismissive. I'm not sure if it was my appearance, my age, my accent or something else but I was left feeling quite upset by my encounter with this lady. I have never been into this store but I have walked past several times and seen what looks like people 'browsing'. I've also spent many years in customer service and even if they have a bizarre 'no browsing' rule then I think they was she enforced this was extremely and unnecessarily rude. I try to support small buissness and avoid corporate giants like Amazon but if this is how I'm treated it doesn't leave me with much choice. What a real shame.
