Beyond Bodywork

Mark's session was one of the most powerful sessions I've ever had. And I've had lots of great bodywork sessions in my life-- truly astonishing work.
I've known Mark for a couple of years from the Anatomy of Emotion course in my YTT. The course has found me in the right moment when I lost my father. The materials of the course and Mark's work are rich and inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine and Jungian analysis. It helped me tremendously to process grief and the depth of the loss.
Years after the course, I could finally meet him in person. I had a rough summer, and even though I did have a therapist and other resources, no one was able to see the depth of what needed to be seen and said out loud in a compassionate way. Mark's sessions are twofold: conversation followed by deep tissue (in my case). I have never had a deep tissue massage as any practitioner would start doing. I can't handle it, and it's too painful. I haven't felt that with Mark. I trusted his work tremendously and allowed myself to receive it on a deep level. My body needed it, and the deep work I had never experienced -- felt exhilarating as I was emboldening to feel so integrated with my whole self. True talent.
Mark works with clients on a multi-linear level; he's a true healer, and if you're into that, that's the right place for you.

My session with Mark was both deeply revealing and healing. I went to see him for both a physical issue as well as to clear the residue of old family trauma from my body. We spent the first half of the session discussing what was going on in my life. In that dialogue, he contributed insights and drew important connections for me that I hadn't seen before, revealing new layers to look at. Mark had a sense my physical issue was connected to everything else I spoke about.

Once I got on the table, he knew what part of my body to focus on. He employed several techniques to clear emotion from the traumas in my life that was stuck in my body. He also did a bit of soul retrieval work (I'm not sure he would say that's what it was but that's how it felt to me.) I left there feeling whole in a way I hadn't before and like something big had shifted but I couldn't put my finger on it just yet.

And my physical issue has since subsided.

Mark's a down to earth, astute and empathetic soul who knows precisely how to hold the space for the deep healing you've come to him for. He is THE GUY to see, a true healer. Am eternally grateful to him for the work he does in the world.

Mark is a healer! His work is truly beyond bodywork. He not only works the body from outside he understands where emotions stay in the body and how to move them out of the body. Bodywork, true bodywork is from the inside and Mark has that nailed. Mark took me on a journey of a block I had for half a decade that no other therapy or work I've done has been able to access. I love Mark's work. He is as passionate as the day is long and intuitively knows my body. I've had over 5 sessions with hime now and my body/life gets more and more balanced with every visit.

His studio/workshop is so warm and chill. The table he uses is covered by a Biomat. Which adds a deeper level of relaxation and energy balance to the experience. And I love that he is located close to BART in a beautiful loft.

Mark's work literally left me lighter and brighter than I've ever been in my life, and my body has changed for the better for good.

OK... There are Massage Therapists, there are "Healers" and beyond that there is another class....most people don't even know they exist. There are people who combine so much experience, various modalities, intuition, skill, presence and ability to heal I would term these people "Super Healers." ... Mark Haviland is a Super Healer.

Strong, tender, sensitive, incredibly knowledgeable about the body, Mark is simply the best. I went in for a massage and I left a changed person. I'm still feeling the affects 4 days later. THAT is not the usual.

Mark is hands down the BEST body worker in the Bay Area if not the world. Furthermore, he is willing to massage you as deeply as you can manage. He has very strong hands and is well versed in acupressure points, Chinese medicine, and anatomy.
