No seating area indoors so all the chairs and tables are outdoors in the sun; plan accordingly.
Very quick service - had our food ready in a few minutes.
Delicious selection of pastries; very creative flavors and combinations!! I would drive to SF for this again!

This place is quite popular in San Francisco... I went on a Tuesday and had to wait in line for a bit. After trying their famous kaya toast, I felt a bit disappointed. It seems like their kaya toast might have pandan in it (?). It was just overly sweet with an odd flavor I couldn't quite identify. The toast underneath was soft and delicious, but the topping was something I couldn't get used to.

The caramel butter toast sticks were decent, but way too expensive for what they were--they're not worth the price. Everything else was just average. I was also puzzled by the takeaway fee. This is probably a place I'd only visit once.

Food: I love the creative menu and desserts! My favorite is the shrimp sandwich but my main complaint is that the food never seems to come out hot enough. Be prepared to spend a lot for not a lot of food.
Service: Order at counter. Pro-tip: order online ahead of time and then pickup. Lines can get long.
Ambiance: No indoor seating, but there are some chairs outside.

Breadbelly truly impressed us with their gourmet flavors and fresh ingredients. We tried the matcha, breakfast sandwich, Kaya toast, and chocolate miso, and each was a delight. The balance of flavors and the quality of the ingredients made everything taste memorable.

The staff were incredibly welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience. The ambiance was beautiful, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. However, I was a little disappointed that there wasn't any indoor tables, especially since we had to brave the San Francisco fog. Fortunately, there's plenty of outdoor seating, so we still had a comfortable place to enjoy our meal!

It's a little on the pricier side, but for the quality and creativity in each dish, I would say it's worth it. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a unique and satisfying breakfast or brunch in the city!

Damn I really thought I'd reviewed Breadbelly years ago (or maybe subconsciously didn't to keep it a secret...). But seems like the secret's out and now the lines are massive!

Been one of my favorite bakeries since they opened -- a true hidden gem on the less commercial blocks on Clement St. I first came here years ago after spending months on and off craving Kaya toast and looking on Yelp and Google for "Singaporean bakeries". Breadbelly popped up and it was love at first bite.

The Kaya toast -- thick milk bread with a generous layer of kaya (coconut-pandan jam); the ube tart with salted egg yolk zest and meringue (divine); the Kaya bun is wonderfully fluffy, has a lovely crusting of Kaya? Matcha? (Unsure but it's delicious either way), and the custard filling is so silky and light.

Their menu has certainly evolved and expanded over the years, but the quality of each individual pastry is still high. There is love and care and consistency in the deliciousness of all the foods offered here -- you really can't go wrong.

Make no mistake though: it's expensive. My wallet weeps every time we visit, yet this is one of few places where you do feel like the quality of the goods match the cost of it. It's a splurge and a worthy one.

Great staff, great drinks, good food

Busy breakfast cafe with items inspired by Asian food! I came too late try some of their most popular items but ordered a blueberry lassi (8.5) and tomato toast (16.5) The lassi was delicious and something I would definitely order again. It was the right amount of sweet and tart. I waited a little too long to drink it so it was thinner than it originally came but still delicious. The tomato toast was objectively good, but I personally didn't like it because the base sauce includes a lot of cilantro (I think), which I don't like. The milk bread is soft and thick, the tomatoes are juicy, and the toppings of fried shallots and crispy peanuts are nice addition for taste and texture. There was the right amount of sauce and topping on the toast, the green sauce is just too strong for me.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, even despite me coming moments before closing. They stayed busy past close time. There were many full tables as well after I left. There's plenty of outdoor seating and no waiting bench indoors. It was a nice day and not too crowded, so great ambience!

I would definitely return! I want to try the Kaya cream puff

I was super excited to try breadbelly but in the end we only really enjoyed the Kaya Bun. It's an extremely cute cafe but we felt like the prices were too expensive for the amount and quality of the food.

The breakfast sandwich $14.50 (fried egg, smoked ham, Gruyère, sour kale, fermented pepper paste, bun) had a small thin slice of ham we almost missed it because all we tasted was egg.

The chicken karaage $15.25 came with about 8 pieces of bite sized chicken and a side of kewpie mayo.

The egg coffee can only be made hot, not iced, and didn't quite impress us. The coffee flavor quickly overwhelmed the egg foam on top. The sesame cappuccino (iced) isn't filled to the top (most likely because it's a set measurement for hot, which is fine) but was a little disappointing to see.

The Kaya bun though? Delicious! Cookie crumble top with a Kaya cream interior reminded me of my childhood and wasn't too sweet!

Service was fast though and it has quite a few tables outside in the front patio area to sit in, but if I come back, it'll most likely only be for the Kaya bun.

      1 check-in

first time to bread belly with my parents!

I enjoyed their sandwiches. there more than i did their desserts.

The service is really good, the staff made sure that no matter how crazy a visit was they wouldn't clog up the line to the bathroom and their kitchen.

The ambience still had some pandemic vibes, but you could also sit outside with your food and enjoy the sunshine

Delicious. Creative. Perfection. We come here for our weekly shrimp paste sandwich and breakfast bacon and egg biscuit.

The shrimp paste is literally bouncy, and has really delicious and mild flavor, perfectly fried.

I don't even like bacon and egg stuff but I tried it when my husband first ordered it, and let me tell you, I dream about it sometimes, the bacon is perfectly soft and a little crispy, sweet and delicious, the egg is cooked in fat I think, the biscuit tastes super fresh and perfect amount of crispy outside and most inside, it's just so satisfying to have a really well made fat protein carb combo.

For a while they also had the citrus lassie, arguably one of the best beverages I've ever had, perfect texture and flavor.

We've also tried some of the pastries, they are good but not our favs. Come for the breakfast sandwiches!

New favorite bakery in SF. I've been wanting to try the kaya toast here for years now, and I'm so glad I finally went today! It lives up to the hype; the bread is almost like sweet croissant toast, and the kaya jam topping is incredible. It has the perfect balance of sweet and salty; I would 100% get it again.

We also got the gyeranbbang, which is a cornbread topped with cheese, and filled with an egg and scallions. I loved the spicy and savory flavor profile, and the cheese on top. The cornbread base was super moist. Would highly recommend this as well.

I wish I could've tried everything in the display case; everything looked so good. Will definitely be back to try more!

Service is really friendly. The food does take a few mins to come out if you asked for it to be warmed, and the kaya toast takes time to prepare. They have lots of outdoor seating in front and it wasn't too hard to find a table on a Sunday afternoon.
