Broderick - Walnut Creek

Gotta satisfy these Philly Cheese cravings.

Came back from an A's game the other day and decided to get an early dinner. I think it was around 5 or so so it wasn't too busy. We ended up getting a table right away.

This day I ordered the Desperado sandwich, with Desperado fries. The sandwich made me realize that I need to take their sandwiches as seriously as their burgers. It was pretty delicious! I really enjoyed the Cheesy Gorgonzola cheese. It went really well with the meat and bell peppers.

One thing that I can always count on is how much food Brodericks gives. There were soooooo many fries. Luckily mostly me and my friends shared meals so I had so help! Brodericks always remains a solid restaurant for American Food. However the biggest benefit is the portions that they offer in an already pricy Walnut Creek. People coming here at least know they will get more than their money's worth out of each meal.

Went here for Happy Hour recently and got some quick bites. It wasn't bad! We ordered the Bacon Mac and Cheese, Bahn Mi Tacos, and Taquitos. The Mac wasn't bad. I didn't taste as much cheese as I felt like I should but I did appreciate the crunchiness on top and the bacon with it. The Tacos didn't have as much flavor as I thought they were. It was a tad underwhelming.

My favorites, interesting enough, were the Taquitos! They were fried perfectly and I enjoyed how big they were. To top if off they have a crema drizzle with Bomb Sauce on the side. In my opinion this is their best Happy Hour bite and you can't beat the price for them.

Service was solid as usual. However each time I come I can't help but feel like I am becoming less and less impressed. I don't want to feel that way because I love Broderick's but that's just how I feel. Hmmm...

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Last weekend I revisited Brodericks on a whim for breakfast. My girlfriend and our friend wanted to go shopping for glasses in Walnut Creek so after we were done we figured, "Why not go to Brodericks?!" Overall I was very happy with the return visit and I'm happy that they are still trying to maintain the quality of the food I love. However something is still off...

This visit I decided to play it safe and get a classic: The Chicken and Waffle with Bourbon Maple Syrup. It was pretty good. The chicken was cooked well; as was the waffle. But with the chicken something just seemed different. It tasted "good" but it didn't have that same seasoning they always use. I decided to go all the way back to my first review and sure enough when I looked at the chicken, the fried part looked different. There had to be different seasoning. Again it's not like the chicken tasted bad but I enjoyed the original recipe better. On top of that, all the times I got the chicken it always was white meat. This time it was dark meat. That was the first sign that something was off.

I looked over at my friend who is a master at Egg's Bennys and she seemed like she was enjoying it. She mentioned, "Definitely better than last time." I was glad because sitting next her the during the last visit was scary. For a minute there, I thought she was going to go into the kitchen and choke someone out. Moral of the story is: Never mess up a lady's Egg's Benedict. But all jokes aside, my friend still wasn't completely satisfied. When I asked her what happened, she mentioned "Take a look at the yolk." She turned her plate and that's when I saw it. One egg was perfection. It was oozing yolk out just as an Egg's Benedict should. But then the other egg on the left was cooked just a little too much. It wasn't the end of the world. My friend enjoyed her meal but it was apparent that something was definitely different.

I will say that service for 95% of the times I've gone, has been above and beyond. The people that work there are starting to remember who I am now. But even when I first started coming and I was a nobody(still am honestly), I always got extraordinary service which is something I want to stress. I actually tried to call the owner this morning before I came but wasn't able to reach him because it was probably too early when we went. Yet even though, I didn't get through to them, I still got amazing service. I hope that this is something that never changes.

As for the food it's definitely good but it is apparent that something has changed. I don't know what it is but some recipes are getting tweaked in some fashion. It's not bad but it's just feels different is all.

Is Brodericks slippin? I came here recently for brunch with some friends and was left with this question. Being the #1 fan of Brodericks, it definitely hurt me to ever have to come to that question. But I can't be biased just because it's one of my favorite restaurants.

That being said you might wonder what it was that wasn't up to par. Well..unfortunately it was the eggs Benny. It wasn't like it was bad...it was just weird. They changed the Hollandaise sauce somehow. It was mushy and it just had a bland flavor. It tasted cheap like they bought some from Raley's on $5 Mondays and it was closed to expired. I mean you'll see it in the picture below. Just compare it to other pictures and I'm sure you'll see the difference.

Aside from that hiccup, everything in terms of service, and wait was perfection. Hopefully it was just an off day like before because that was pretty disappointing. When it comes to brunch I always know I can count on Brodericks but this time they didn't come through. Hopefully they didn't get a new chef either...Brodericks! You guys gotta step it up!!

Came here for lunch with my girl recently. I am slowly getting back into my diet. At this point of the road I wasn't eating any beef/pork and just sticking with poultry/fish. Luckily, Brodericks is awesome because they have a Turkey and Duck burger. Despite all the interesting yet different ingredients, I decided to be adventurous and went with the Duck burger. My GOD...

Yea yea... I know what you are thinking..."This dude just said he is on a diet but he gets a burger with chili cheese fries..? Lol" Go ahead and judge me! But you WISH you could of had this meal. Let's break this burger down:

1. Ground Duck
2. Pear Fig Jam
3. Garlic Aioli
4. Fried Onion Crisps
5. Arugula
6. Red Wine Vinaigrette
7. Cheddar Cheese Skirt(OooOoOo Brodericks?!! You have an answer to Squeeze Inn in Sac?! You're dirty...)

So all of these ingredients together produce an amazing blend of flavor. If you are a lover of salty and sweet, you hit the jack pot with this. You taste that typical good old fashioned burger taste with the duck and onion crisps but the finish... oh man. On the back end you taste the slight sweetness of the pear fig jam with the red wine vinaigrette and you just get punched in the face with the overall flavor of everything coming together. And the beauty of it? You don't feel as crappy eating a burger because you are eating poultry. Burger aficionados don't knock this just because it's duck. This burger means business in every sense of the word. You got to try it!!!

I'm actually gonna keep this short (believe it or not this is actually short for me lol). I'm not gonna talk about the chili (maybe a little...ok ok the chili cheese fries are ridic!!) today... but one of the next times I will try their chili burger. Being a fan of Chili Cheese burgers I am going to go in with strong expectations since it's Brodericks but I have no doubt I will come out satisfied; as with anything I eat here. I keep trying to tell the people. I can only show you the door. You people have to be the ones to walk through it and bless yourself with the heaven known as Brodericks!!

Redemption never tasted so sweet. Literally.

So came back today for breakfast to give them another shot after the less then perfect experience last time and it has sense returned to perfect. Last time I tried the Breakfast Burrito which is one of their new items on the Breakfast Menu. This time I went for the Breakfast burger and boy was I glad I did.

The Breakfast burger comes with a sausage patty, egg , cheese, in between two waffles and syrup and fries on the side, all for $12. While the burger isn't as big as the regular burgers there, the flavor coupled with the fries it is well worth the price tag. The meat was cooked to a perfect medium and seasoned well. The egg is oozing slightly with each bite... urgh...and then the waffle? The waffle is so soft inside but then you dip it in the syrup? Euebesnbdiw)&)@@55&48#^#+

...So long story short, Broderick's new Breakfast Burger is to die for. It's definitely going to be one of my new go to's. Just a tip to anyone who are brave enough to try this. If you want a little extra flavor, I would ask for the country gravy to dip the fries in. You could also opt to get the Bourbon Maple Syrup instead of the regular syrup if you don't want your burger to be too sweet.

Lastly, I also have to mention that the drinks are superb. The Whiskey Smash might be my new favorite drink. The whiskey taste is so smooth. Overall the drink tastes sooooo fresh. I could see myself drinking it at a campfire or on a beach. It's such an all around drink. Also if you checked my reviews in the past then you already know that Brodericks has the best mules in the area. They have a mule for just about every spirit(Even Gin and Tequila mules!). Brodericks is and always will be simply ridiculous.

I'm so used to perfection with Brodericks but this was the first time out of thousands of times I've gone that I had a less than perfect experience. Keep in mind that I just said, "less than perfect."

I went recently with friends for the usual weekend brunch and come across a new menu. Actually kinda not surprising being that Brodericks tends to always have something up their sleeve. This time it was a Breakfast Burrito and Breakfast Burger. Being a fan of burritos and burgers I immediately gravitated to those items. The server was extra nice. I think his name was Jeremy or something but he seemed new. My choice for the burrito was either their godlike gravy or Bomb ass green salsa. Fuck that. Gimme both. I turned to him with the eyes of a kid asking his parents if they can go to Disneyland. "Can I have both?" Without hesitation he replies back with, "Sure!!" Good ole Brodericks!! I also tried the new Sunshine and Jalisco Moscow Mules. The sunshine mule was very refreshing while the Jalisco tasted like a combination between a mule and a margarita. I friggin love their mules...

We all received our food and half our orders were wrong. Not completely wrong but my girl ordered country fried steak when she wanted country fried chicken. Someone ordered a breakfast burrito like mine and they mixed up both of ours. A first. Definitely a first. Our burritos didn't come with anything like extra sour cream or salsa. The Burrito presentation was on point but my other friend agreed that it was a little undewhleming with just the burrito on a huge ass plate. I think they should add fries or country potatoes to it. Brodericks is known for giving a lot of food so it was just weird having a little less this time around. On top of that my gf was walking to the bathroom and noticed on the way that one of their water jugs was overflowing with water and asked me about it they normally waste water like that?

Brodericks had an off day today. It happens. Don't get it twisted though. Despite all of that happening that day, the food was bomb.com. I am confident the next time I come back the experience will be 110% better!! :D

Yea I know folks. It's the same thing every time but seriously there is a reason. I try other breakfast places and they just don't compare. I try burgers and wings at other places and most still don't compare. Brodericks is easily one of my favorite restaraunts. If anything I would be as bold to say they are the best place in the East bay for Brunch. Wide brunch menu with loads of flavor everywhere. The Breakfast Fries(with the house made hot sauce or Home style gravy) are godlike. The Fried Chicken and Waffles with the BOURBON maple syrup is godlike. Oh not feeling those two? How about a CRAB CAKE BENEDICT. Yes you heard right. CRAAAAB CAKE BENEDICT. Get it man. Oh yea. I didn't tell you? My apologies good sir. Yes, they do have the BEST Moscow Mules in the area AND change them up seasonally. Great food. Great service. Good times!

Right now in the back if my mind I am hiding behind a couch because I imagine one of my friends throwing stuff at me. "ANTHONY!!! STOP. TELLING. PEOPLE. ABOUT. BRODERICKS." Broderick's is definitely a hidden gem. Sometimes one you don't want people to find out about so that it's busy every single time you go there. Pretty selfish I know. But she has to understand. I just have to. It hurts my soul not to let the people know. Hell, the world must know...the world must know that Brodericks now has outside seating! Business is SO good they need to have more space! Boom. OUTSIDE SEATING SON!

Just wanted to do another update. Came here for brunch again recently and Broderick's friggin surprises me again(Actually not that much as a surprise since everything is good here...). No wait. Perfect service. They had a brunch special going on when I went...

Ocean City Benedict. Crabcake benedict. Need I say more???!!?! Perfectly cooked crabcake. Perfectly cooked egg. Both on top of a tomato and tasty biscuit? With the best Moscow mules in the area? I can't...I can't man. If you live in the area and you haven't come here yet, you are really missing out son.

Boy oh boy...

If Broderick's couldn't get any better...So if you haven't seen my first review and this is your first time going here, I highly recommend reading that first.

I recently went here for brunch again and the food never fails to give orgasmic satisfaction. We were sat right away. Service is always perfect. Our waiter checked on us multiple times and was extremely kind and professional. Not gonna do one of my normal long reviews. However I do need to mention the new drink menu.

One word. Mules. I lied...Two words. Broderick Mules. They have a special Moscow Mule menu right now. Not sure how long it'll be there but if you love Moscow Mules you really owe it to yourselves to try one. I was wanting something more on the refreshing side so I tried the Not Melon Mule. It was hellllla good! It was so tropical with the hint of ginger appearing towards the back end of each sip. It was so good I had to have another. Being the whiskey drinker I am, I went for the obvious choice. Yea thats right. I had the Drunken A**.

Yelp please! Well anywho. Yall know which one I'm talking about! It's so simple in ingredients yet so good. I feel like the Jameson only further intensifies the ginger taste! Sooooooo tasty! I also should note that on the back side is like a pairing for each day. I'm gonna have to see what's all about next time!

Well shit.(Wait wha...?) I guess I ended up writing a long review anyways...Oh well. Long story short, Broderick's deserves it. Just go there people. Broderick's is definitely a game changer and I can't wait to see what they surprise me with next! :D

Broderick's is the Truth.

Natives to Walnut Creek may think this is just a new high end burger joint in town. What they might not know is that this place originated in Sacramento. Oh how I've missed the days of getting their Jumbo Buffalo Wings...

Time for the bear necessities. Theres parking on the street along with a parking garage down the street. Both require payment depending on the day and time. That being said, once me and my girlfriend got here one morning, we were immediately seated. I've never had to wait for a seat and this is my 3rd time coming to the one here in Walnut Creek. However I've never gone for Brunch before but this is going to change. Let me tell you why.

Doesn't need to be said but I will. There has not been one thing I've had on the menu that has tasted bad. Everything here is tasty. The burgers are all amazing. The wings...good lord. The WINGS are the best Buffalo Wings in the area. Yes better than B-dubs. Stop going there if you love buffalo wings. This is the place you should be. Their drinks are hecka good. I really don't believe there to be anything bad on the menu. But their Brunch folks. It IS the business. Service is always amazing. We asked our waiter a question he didn't know the know the answer to but he was honest and said he would ask his manager. I like that. He always checked in on us and made sure we had everything we needed. He was really friendly. If I ever get him again I will definitely mention his name. Super chill guy!

So we had the Breakfast Fries and the Chicken and Waffle w/ bourbon syrup. The Breakfast Fries were ridiculously savory. They are basically what happens when you mix Chilaquiles with Fries which is basically heaven. Why isn't this more a thing? It's so simple and yet sooooo good. The Chicken and Waffle was also too good to be true. You could taste the hint of bourbon with every sweet bite of your soft buttery waffle. Oh but let's not forget that secretly seasoned chicken breast it comes with. The meat wasn't dry and fried perfectly. Coupled with the Waffle and Bourbon Syrup, you have a breakfast meal you'll never forget.

Ughhhhhhh....Brodericks. Why? Why do you own my soul so much? I never would of thought that I would finally find a spot in the Bay Area that has a dish comparable to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles down south. This is that spot! Broderick's, please. Don't ever change.
