Only 8 reviews as I write this, which is odd. I have gone to these guys on and off for the last 15 years with various problems and they fixed them all. Fair price, good knowledge, reasonable turn-around.

Look at the building and the interior when you go in - obviously an established business, and folks that are no-good don't stay in business long-term.

They didn't bat an eye over the fact that my stuff was vintage - no problem, there you go was all that they said when I picked up my wiper motor that was probably more trouble than it was worth to them.

Very happy says the guy with the problem 1972 wiper motor that was a pain in Buchannan's behind.

These guys are AWESOME!! Quick and efficient ! I was referred to BAE by two different shops for a replacement generator for my 58' Ford Fairlane. I expected to pay more then what I actually paid

This shop is perfect for rebuilding your boat starter! The service is efficient, fast, friendly and knowledgeable! The online competition is not worth your time and effort as they can not compete with Buchanan Auto Electric.

I believe these guys are top top quality. When they rebuild your item. They absolutely 100% rebuild it. You'll get as good as new or better.

The starter in my 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air was in need of a rebuild. A friend of mine from my car club recommended Buchanan Auto Electric. I dropped it off yesterday at 11 AM. They called me at 3 PM and said I could pick it up the next morning. It looks like new! My tech will install it later today; I'm sure it will perform properly. I recommend Buchanan enthusiastically!

So you read Jason's review. And you say "better than new, that's hogwash". No, its not.

I took them an alternator off my motorcycle that the motorcycle community had disassembled and reverse engineered/crossed to parts off other bikes, since they don't sell parts for this one.

Used they go for $300. New they go for $900. For bikes worth $5k and less. Mine is probably worth $2k.

Anyway, I was lamenting my plight (dead expensive alternator for bike of minimal value) to a good friend who runs a hotrod shop and he says "Take it to Buchanan. They can fix anything".

Well, I have little to lose. Either they can fix it or they can't. I take it over to them. Counter man listens to my tale and says "We'll see what we can do, give us a week". I check in a week later "its fixed", and less than what a used one on eBay would cost me.

So I go pick it up. It was putting out 15a when they first tested it (no load, load it made zero). They replaced some bits. Stuff the internet community had struggled to find replacements for. Readily available if you're running a shop and have access to the manufacturer.

Now it puts out 28a.

Its a 25a alternator.

So, better than new? Yep. That wasn't hyperbole from Jason.

Oh, and; Last time I had an alternator repaired (elsewhere), they didn't bench test it. "its too hard". This was for a different vehicle. Anyway, that turned into a mess as they rebuilt it twice and it kept failing. I ended up having to buy a new one since I didn't want to hassle with the shop who was doing the mediocre work.

Buchanan mentioned that in order to test it they had to build a fixture for it since its not a traditional car one with a belt drive. They could have just skipped the bench test but nope, they went above and beyond to make sure it was good and fixed.

Finally, if their location concerns you, ship it to them. They're happy to have things shipped in.

Fast turn-around, great staff, convenient location, why buy a new alternator made in China and with an uncertain service life when you can save money rebuilding the one you have? The turned around my marine alternator in less than a day and it looks and works like it's new and fresh out of the box. timoko

Great mom and pops place! They remember you when you come back. They rebuilt alternators and generators better than the original manufacture. I love their work, and I love their service.
