Building Kidz of Daly City

This daycare/preschool is amazing. Our son has just graduated. He was a student there for the year of 2020-2021. Our experience was nothing short of amazing. The carrying and nurturing environment and teachers' attention were superb. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate because our son had the wonderful experience in this preschool.
The curriculum there is a well balanced combo of play/learn time. Kids are progressing well academically and developmentally. Great attention to the safety protocols. Teachers there are making sure that the conditions are as safe as possible during the pandemic. We recommend 'Building Kidz' wholeheartedly to all parents out there.
P.S. It's also priced very reasonably.

We spent over 2 years at BK DC and would've stayed longer if we hadn't moved! We joined in the early months of shelter-in-place and have been impressed by the professionalism, responsiveness, and proactive communication of the administration and teachers. Their holiday schedule is great for working families, and their staffing is consistent and reliable. Thank you Building Kidz!

Amazing daycare/preschiol center! (And our older one attended several ones, including Bright Horizons and a home based daycare).

There are 6 groups: 

Infants (several months old - around 18 months)
Toddlers 18 month - 2.5yo
Preschool 1 (not potty trained) 2.5-3.5 yo
Preschool 1 potty trained (similar ages)
2 classes of preschool 2, which is really PreK (4-5 yo)

Only downside (for us), county employees have priority to get in, so for general population can be a long waitlist. Thus, my older one only got in only at toddler level, but then baby brother did have priority for infant group.

It's great that although siblings are in same location (for easy drop offs), they are in different groups, so activities are targeted for specific age/skill level. For example, older kids can practice fine motor skills for their level (small beading, cutting, gluing) that could be dangerous to younger ones.

The teachers are really caring. They helped us work through potty training and kept us in the loop and giving suggestions for the stage of child development. They work to develop the WHOLE child. I was pleasantly surprised when our strong willed child would come home and "use his words" to describe his dislike towards something. Instead of screaming or crying, he would  say "I don't like it!". They also teach academics, but in a fun way. In addition to number and letter (and their sounds), our older picked up so many skills we did not practice at home: patterns continuation, cutting precision. We were also impressed how they practiced simple addition and subtraction and simple time telling, all in fun playful way.

During non-Covid times, they have: science, Spanish, music, dance. During Covid some of the dance and music from those teachers is through Zoom while they are in their respective stable class. Also pre-Covid, recitals twice a year for children to perform on stage for parents, which was wonderful see one of our shy kids come out of his shell.


During Covid, I was impressed how quickly the center adapted. It always stayed open for essential employees, and resumed care for everyone in May/June 2020. Kids always stayed in small stable groups (no mixing drop off/pickup times anymore). The cleaning protocols put in place were great: playgrounds cleaned between classes. Teachers volunteered to clean own classrooms for less potential exposure. Kids were washing hands often. Temperature was measured at the entrance. All adults wearing masks. house-shoes inside. Kids in preschool 1 & 2 masks highly recommended (except when outside eating, or napping). Older kids are all in masks (my older one even asked me to get a mask when everyone had one), preschool 1 almost all in masks.

Hygeine precautions were so extraordinary that barely any colds this winter.

I was pleasantly surprised also at almost zero teacher turnover during Covid. We feel so grateful to have a safe, enriching place to send out kids during this uncertain time!


Because for Covid, decided to apply for private schools this year for Kindergarten. Our child ranked 70-90% for all tasks tested, all thanks for the Building Kidz Daly City Imagination Station. And they managed all this during the pandemic!

5 of 6 years back this daycare was known as Hoover, and was mentioned in the article as one of top daycares on the peninsula. When transitioning to be part of Building Kidz, they enriched the curriculum by adding performing arts, but the director, Raeli, stayed the same for the past 6-7 years since we first talked to them (don't know how long before then). She did an amazing job with transition then and also now during Covid.

My two boys started going to Building Kidz in Daly City since 1 year old. My oldest son is graduating this year to kindergarten. Building Kidz has been a family to us. We are happy with the director and all the teachers. The teacher turn over ratio is low, most of the teachers we know for more than 3-4 years. Both kids love go to school, each morning they can't wait to get to school.
They have learned a lot with the preschool curriculum that building kids offers. The teachers also pay close attention to children development. My son's teacher suggested to have my son checked out for his speech since he was falling behind. We started speech therapy when he was 3. He has now successfully completed his therapy and he has been rated above 90th percentile for both math and verbal kindergarten entrance exams with a private school.
The school kept open even during spring 2020 Covid SIP periods when other schools and daycares were closed which was a big help to working parents. I can't say enough how much I appreciate the teachers and school for keeping our children safe and happy during the difficult times.

This preschool is absolutely amazing. My daughter adore each and every teacher she came into contact with at this school.

This preschool provided a solid foundation in academics, social skills, and teaching them the fundamental of dreaming big using there imagination skills. My daughter excelled in this school with the various daily activities. One of her favorite class in the morning is Science class. One of her favorite project was getting to grow a bean from a seed. She learned how to pot, plant, water, and watched it grow. With the diverse culture of where we live, I am very please that Building Kidz offer to teach basic Spanish at this level. I catch my daughter sometimes counting in Spanish or even saying just the simple words like thank you. There are so many other enriching activities that goes on everyday at this preschool that sometimes it feels like 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM isn't enough time. Dance Class, Music Class, Art Class, Performance Recitals....I wish I got to experience this when I was her age.

To see that my daughter enjoyed preschool this much makes my heart melt. It's the little things in life that counts the most. Knowing that Building Kidz made such a huge footprint in my daughter life make me proud as a mother for finding a preschool like this one. Entrusting your precious little ones is a huge step of letting go as a mother. It was the best decision I made to put my daughter at this preschool.

I am truly thankful for Ms. Raeli and her superhero teachers.

We love this school! Both my kids go to school here and we can't say enough about the wonderful teachers and the loving, enriching, and positive learning environment they provide for all the children.

Raeli, the director of Building Kidz Daly City, does an amazing job. She is such a positive, organized, and energetic person. The teachers are all so passionate about their jobs. My kids have both thrived at this school both academically, artistically, and socially thanks to the great teachers.

The diverse curriculum at this school is very impressive. They include science, Spanish dance, music, and theatre classes along with art and prek curriculum. We love the twice yearly recitals the school has. The kids dress up in cute outfits and show off the dance moves they learn during dance class. So cute!!! It's the highlight of the school year. The kids also enjoy lots of play time outside in their cute play areas. There are 4 grade levels (infants, toddlers, prek 1, prek 2). Each grade level has their own distinct outdoor play area.

The school is also very secure and well maintained. It is located right at the Daly City city hall, which is where the Daly City police department is. Parking is very abundant and easy. You are given a personal door code to gain entry into the building and must sign your kids in/out each day at a digital kiosk in the lobby. The teachers send updates, including pictures and notes, via an app called Brightwheel. It is a secured app that you can only gain access if you are sent an invite from the school. You can also message the teachers whenever you want. The teachers are very good at messaging back.

My daughter attended this preschool and is going go be attending kindergarten soon. I am amazed at how much this school has prepared her for the transition. Not only is the educational program excellent but they are a genuinely, wonderful and caring group of people. The School director is always positive, organized and has a great sense of responsibility. All the teachers are so loving and caring. They never fail to show great enthusiasm towards the children and they have made a positive impact on our daughter's life.

As a parent, there is nothing better than knowing your child is in good hands. This school ensures us that we never have to worry about our child's happiness and safety. She is always dropped off and picked up with a smile on her face.

We are so impressed with the curriculum, from science, math, spanish, art, dancing, music and theatre. This is exactly what my daughter needed and I know it will help her to be successful in kindergarten. We love what this school has done for our daughter and we wish that we could have kept her in this school forever.

I love this school, first they took care of my nieces. I always knew I wanted my kids to go there someday as well. My son attended BK Imagination Station only for his last year of Pre-K and happy that he did. He went from being very shy to a talkative child and is now doing well in Kindergarten. I highly recommend this school, teachers are very caring and great teachers that give kids a good foundation before Kinder, also the best with quick feedback on your concerns & questions.

Had all three of my children at this school and they, ages 12,10 and 5.5, still remember all the happy days they spent here. Thank you to the teachers and staff for playing such a positive role in their development.

I can not say enough about this wonderful Child Care facility.
The premises are immaculate, and the teachers are wonderful.
There are several groups for kids depending on age. There are activities scheduled and vary every day and every week. Each week has a theme. There is a scheduled outdoor play in the morning and afternoon, healthy snacks twice a day, a 2 hour nap time and educational, fun and developmental activities (arts, letters, counting, cooking and crafts projects). Occasionally special guests are invited (the Bug Lady is my kids favorite). Many special celebrations occur throughout the year, and Mothers, Fathers Day and Christmas concerts as well as a Haloween parade are something I look forward to always...
