We were seeing Dr Miller for two years and had a great experience, unfortunately we have moved and it is now a long drive for us, but the amount of time we saved as two busy working parents while working with Burgess clinic was worth every penny!

Notice that both Dr Morton and Dr Noland have now left because they no longer agree with the practice. Dr Cisco is still amazing and I back him 100% but your likelihood of seeing him or talking to him is slim to none. For $5k a year I should get the best and yet you instead are treated to attitude and lack of care.

We adore Burgess Pediatrics, every single doctor we have dealt with at this practice has been exceptional. When we found out we were pregnant, we asked our friends (who are doctors) who their kid's pediatrician is and Burgess Pediatrics kept coming up.
We love having access to this incredibly knowledgable group of doctors 24/7. The longest time I have ever waited to have a call returned is 5 minutes. As a first time parent I find comfort in being able to call someone for questions (sometimes, pretty basic questions) any hour of the day.
As an aside, it is shocking to me to a read review (Diana K.) about not being seen because you refuse to pay for a service. Talk about entitlement.

Burgess has been a major blessing for us. One of our children needs significant care and we feel we really get great value from Burgess despite the price. The nurses are great and are very responsive to emails and calls. Dr. Cueva is our hero. She goes above and beyond to help us navigate what can be very complex systems within LPCH. Dr. Cueva has a great network within the system and helps us find the best doctors for our little one's needs. She either attends the important meetings or reads the notes and helps us with the decision making. I never feel rushed when we meet and know she really cares about our child. Equally important is the fact Dr. Cueva has the chops and experience to go really deep into medical issues and ask the right questions when talking to other doctors.

You can tell the doctor to patient ratios are kept low at Burgess so the doctors and staff can give significant time to patients to make it really easy to schedule appointments. This means you end up paying more than you would at some other places. In our case, this is money well spent and the staff at Burgess Pediatrics, esp the nurses and Dr Cueva, have really made our lives much easier.

We have been at Burgess for about 6.5 years. We were patients of Dr. Morton and now see Dr. Cueva. We were happy with Dr. Morton, but I am *really* happy with Dr. Cueva.

As another review mentioned, this is a concierge practice, meaning you pay a monthly fee and then are not charged on a per-visit or per-call basis. It may not be cost effective if you have kids who only need to see the pediatrician a couple of times a year, though it is a really convenient and nice indulgence. If you have an infant and need to go in all the time, or you have a child with an ongoing condition, I think it's reasonable from a financial perspective. We joined with an infant with reflux and multiple ear infections and have stayed for the high service level.

Since it's a concierge practice, you can always be seen same day, though it may be with one of the other doctors rather than "yours". Dr. Morton actually did house calls with my 2nd to check on feeding, and kept us from having to admit her for respiratory issues as an infant by seeing her twice a day. I have made frequent use of the answering service, and the doctors are always responsive. I have gone in on weekends, and once we even dropped in because my toddler insisted she see the doctor for a tummy ache while we were playing at burgess park. We were always seen with kindness and courtesy. We never have to wait in the waiting room, and there are rarely other patients, so there's no worry about catching something from our visit. The nurses are super responsive and kind.

Dr. Cueva is awesome. She is proactive, recommending things like seeing an allergist or speech therapist early on, which I appreciate, while not being alarmist. She asks the kids serious but age-appropriate questions. She is indulgent of my love of medical research and at least pretends to be respectful of it, and she is open to explanation when I don't take her recommendation (for example, that aforementioned allergist recommendation, which I deemed pointless bc I was never going to be able to pin the child down for meds).

      First to Review

Dr. James Cisco and Dr. Janesta Noland have been reviewed elsewhere on YELP for their excellent ability to care for patients. I want to write a little bit about Dr. Jane Morton.

Sorry because this review might be too long for some but I want to do justice by addressing all the facts about Burgess.

I have to confess that initially I was very skeptical about meeting Dr. Morton because she had no "raves" on the internet. I am so tied up at home because of my child who has acid reflux and feeding difficulties, that my entire social life is currently "internet based". After trying 3 pediatricians, couple of pediatric gastroenerologists we were very frustrated with either the quality of treatment, inexperience of the doctors or their inefficient staff. We decided to pay out of pocket expenses (instead of multiple co-pays a month for our frequent visits) and choose Burgess pediatricians to care for our child.

Burgess drs are concierge pediatricians. First off: yes could be pretty expensive if your child is in great health and needs to see the doctor once in three months, but if your child needs frequent medical attention and you want your baby to be treated wholly as a person, then Burgess is a great place and their membership fees seem resonable or pehaps just moderately high. The Drs themselves are available on the phone, afterhours as well as on weekends.

They believe more in "prevention" and will give you several tips that can help your baby get healthier, slowly but steadily. IMHO this type of practice might also work very well if your child needs frequent medical attention or long-term health management; they help you set realistic and long term goals and in a month or two you will notice difference.

Dr. Morton is very intelligent, experienced, very well read and extremely knowlegeble. She answers e-mails within in few hours and is very helpful. She will address all you concerns and questions and when she needs a second opinion from a specialist, she will get it for you within a couple of days. She knows several great specialists at Stanford. There was a huge difference when my child went to Stanford GI Clinic as Dr. Morton's patient (compared to my son's previous pediatrician). Dr. Morton had already run several diagnostic tests and checked my child thoroughly before he was sent to the specialist. Since we had done all the preliminary testing, the specialist was more open to discussion, suggestions and prescribed appropriate medicines. I was able to sleep more peaceful after Dr Morton started caring for my baby. I also like the fact that she listens carefully to everything that parents have to say, spends a lot of time with the babies, makes very intelligent observations.

Fortunately I had a great Ob doctor and we have a wonderful PCP but I was always very concerned that it is impossible to find a great pediatrician for my child, but we seemed to have achieved this one too. Thank God!!

Dr. Shelly Miller is a superb pediatric physician. She always takes the time to really listen to my needs and understand my concerns. She's is great with kids using finger puppets and toys to distract them so the visit if fun for them too. She has a great sense of humor while being super smart. The office staff at Burgess Pediatrics is responsive, kind, friendly and fun. My kids look forward to visiting their doctor and I know it will never be a hassle to get in to see her.

Drs. Janesta Noland and Jim Cisco are two of the finest doctors and people I know and have been recognized as such by various sources including by their peers and by Stanford Children's Hospital. (So, don't just take a mom's word for it .. as the other doctors!). I would trust either of them with any issue I ever have. My kids have been seeing them since they were born. Dr. Cisco helped us through the NICU when our first was born and gave us every confidence that everything would work out great. A few years ago the kids themselves chose to see Dr. Noland who they know because she is a parent at their school. In addition to being an extremely skilled doctor, Dr. Noland has an amazing way of engaging with patients and having the kids open up and talk about anything that is on their minds. I know this will even more important and the kids work through puberty and into their teen years. She is also very proactive and works on their overall health. She is available at any time and will travel to your house. She also gives back to the community by taking of a number of children who can't afford care (and she helped my housekeeper at no charge when her 2 year old had cancer). Though she is in a concierge practice where you pay monthly, I believe I get more than my money's worth and I'm thrilled my kids have such a great role model in their life. Plus there is no price I wouldn't pay for the best care for my kids!
