T-Bone steak for $25.99; Prime Rib for $26.99 ...you really can't beat that. And they are USDA Choice too.

This is my first time at ButtercuP and I can't believe that I've never tried this place! It has nice clean table and booth seating, and a counter for purchasing their pies. Gave me a feel of somewhere between Denny's and Marie Callendar.

Upon getting seated by the host, our friendly waitress greeted us and proceeded to bring us water and take our orders. (It was about 8:15pm so we're really hungry!) Between the 4 of us, we ordered 2 prime ribs (excellent!), T-bone steak (also excellent), and a salmon dish. All dishes are SO GOOD and exceeded my expectations, especially for the price... it's an excellent value. Honestly, where can you find $26.99 for a healthy cut of Prime Rib these days!?!

In particular, our waitress was very nice and friendly. She came back and checked on us often to make sure we're doing ok, yet not being over bearing.

It was a very good meal. The Prime Ribs were cooked perfectly and we were all very happy.

I love old school diners and I've been wanting to check out Buttercup ever since I moved to Walnut Creek. I finally had the chance to come in for breakfast with my mom last month.

I got the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs with a side of their grits and my mom got a stack of pancakes. The food was great, and we were happy with our visit. It looks like they have a dinner menu too, so we'll have to come back to check that out soon! I'd love to try out their pork chops and one of their pies next time.

A typical no thrills all American diner experience. We stopped in for a quick breakfast.

- Oatmeal- 7/10- the bananas that were served were partially blackened. Maybe they were precut and ready to go.

-Biscuit with butter 10/10- Came piping hot, not overly salted just perfect. We could tell that it was made in house fresh.

- Tex Mex Scramble 7/10- The hasbrowns were a bit soggy since they were placed under the scramble. The scramble itself was flavorful but overloaded with cheese. The fresh avocado did not look to appetizing as it was also starting to blacken.

Our coffee was not refilled at any point. We were okay with that since we didn't want too much caffeine but if you are be ready to ask.

The service at this place alone is 10/10!
The food is delicious diner food and the portions are huge! Definitely a quality breakfast joint!

We arrived on one of the busiest days of the year... Mother's Day. Even though we were on a 15 minute wait list, we were directed to our table within a time frame of 10 minutes.

Jasmine was awesome. She welcomed and treated us as if we were a long lost relatives. There was no doubt that customer service was one of the main goals of this eatery.
It did not take us long to determine the other goal. The selections from the menu, all pictured, were all crafted with great care.

The only loss of star came from the mistimed preparation of the eggs. It met our table far after the other meals.

I haven't been to Buttercup Pantry in many years, only because I'm rarely in Walnut Creek. Today I met my sister and niece for breakfast and it did not disappoint! Too much to choose from, since it was morning I went with the Veggie Beni, delicious.
The host, bussers and our server were so friendly and efficient. Better service than some formal places I've been to.
I didn't get our servers name as my generous sister paid the bill and I unfortunately forgot to ask him.

Today at the Walnut Creek Buttercup, service was bad.
First of all the waitress forgot my side salad, and I had to ask another waiter.
My hubby was waiting for her to refill his coke and come back with a side of thousand island for his burger. But, she never came back to check on us.
My lemon pepper salmon was Very Salty, I only took 1 bite and could not eat it any more. So, I asked her for another lemon pepper salmon dish.

In the mean time, back to my salad, it had a brown bug on it. Plus, the lettuce wasn't washed properly, it had some brown stuff on it. ex.) like mud on the lettuce. YUCK! THAT'S SO GROSS!
The salmon was much better the second time, but, by that time, I already lost my appetite.

Visiting in the area and decided to try. Ordered the BLT G (guacamole). I did not like the sandwich, bacon was hard, could barely chew it! A very thin tomato and a light smear of something green, but not much. Lots of lettuce. Worst BLT I ever had, and it cost $15. Fries were good. Childs spaghetti came with some weird meatball that had clear runny cheese in it. We won't be back. Service wasn't great either, not friendly to us at all.

It can be a challenge these days finding quality, mid-tier restaurants. Low-end chain restaurants serving burgers and the like are abundant; likewise, higher end dining is not difficult to find. Buttercup is nicely occupying that middle tier in Walnut Creek. I had not realized Buttercup is a family run restaurant going back to 1988!

My wife and I stopped by for an early afternoon midweek lunch. There was a decent amount of people, many of whom seemed to be regulars, a good sign. We were seated immediately and it took us a while to peruse a menu that doesn't lack for choices! My wife settled on the Veggie Benedict and O'Brien Potatoes; I ordered the Monterey Chicken Sandwich with fries.

Our lunch was excellent. My wife enjoyed the Veggie Benedict, and was especially taken with the potatoes, loving the seasoning. My chicken sandwich was delicious, a quality chicken breast and the fries were perfect.

We couldn't leave without trying their well known desserts. Good thing, it's definitely smart to leave room for dessert here! My wife loved the Bread Pudding, while I savored a big slice of the Peanut Butter Pie with chocolate sauce - yum! We'll have to try the milkshakes next time.

We had an attentive, friendly server; for example, she initiated a refill of my Coke without me asking. And they have Scan To Pay for convenience and security.

Definitely a five-star experience!
