Can the onsen tamago bowl or potato croquettes / curry be made without onions or garlic?

      A:

The onsen tamago bowl can be made without onions and does not have garlic in the dish. The potato croquettes dont have onions or garlic in them. The curry cannot be made without onions. Hope that helps!

Staff is super friendly service and food is consistently delicious. Friends and I usually stop by for a quick lunch or dinner before Giants/Warriors game. Katsu curry is my favorite and I always buy a fruit sando to go.

Came here on a Friday during lunchtime and there was a line maybe 5 people ahead of me. It didn't take too long for my turn, but there was definitely no seats available inside when I got my order.

You order at the counter then pick any empty table. They have some 2-4 tables plus counter seats and maybe 4 tables outside. Parking is very difficult to find.

I end up taking my order to go since there were no parking nor tables available. I thought it would take long, but I only waited for about 5-10m minutes for my order.

      chicken katsu sando
-usually it's pork but I appreciate the chicken option
chicken was hot, moist, juicy, crispy but easy to bite into
-the bread was soft and fluffy
      -they cut out the crust
-sauce subtle but still good taste
      added cabbaged salad and pickles
-added a salad on the side $4
probably one of the best katsu sando I've had in USA so far

      Gyuudon-beef bowl
-delicious but typical taste as it should
-appreciate the garnishes, pickles, scallions and radish

      I'd come back!

Came by for a quick weekday lunch, and I was really impressed by Cafe Okawari! There was a line when we arrived, but it moved quickly. We ordered a chicken katsu curry and a chicken katsu sando, sat down, and our food came out right away!

Chicken katsu sando was really amazing. The milk bread was so sweet and fluffy, lots of crunchy cabbage, and a perfectly fried and moist, tender chicken thigh. The flavor of the sando was great, not too sweet or saucy. It also came with a few pickles on the side.

I had a few bites of my bf's curry, and it was also good. The chicken is the same as the one in the sandwich, so it was very juicy on the inside with a light, crispy exterior.

Overall, great quick weekday lunch! I saw many people getting matchas and they looked delicious as well, would love to try that next time.

We got so lucky and took the last chicken and egg sandos of the day. It was our first time trying this spot and man I wish we had more spots like this in the South Bay. If you're craving egg or chicken katsu sandos, this is the spot.

Literally perfect & they're made pretty quickly too!

The only downside is parking since it's all street parking and the area is pretty busy. We came during a Giants game so it was hectic and packed.

Solid casual lunch spot in Soma! It's a cute Japanese cafe with a limited menu, and I've only gotten the chicken katsu curry but it's perfect every time, so I keep ordering it. It can get busy during lunch but it turns over and haven't had an issue getting a seat.

To kick start my birthday, soaking in the summer sun and a picnic was on my mind. As a Japanese girlie, the idea of sandos for lunch was music to my ears. Cafe Okawari has been on my list for a year or so, so the timing was perfect to finally try it!

I came with my companion to Cafe Okawari during lunch on a weekday. It's very serene, cute, and minimal inside. The restaurant is a bit smaller with a counter and tables to sit at plus a parklet. There were mainly customers who were on their lunch break or with friends dining in but it wasn't too crowded. For our items, it took less than 10 minutes to make which was fabulous.

We chose to take our items to go. He and I split the Menchi Sando, Egg Salad Sando, and Onsen Tamago. I love tamago sandos and theirs was spot on with the soft milk bread and creamy eggs. The menchi was my favorite and a nice change from the typical katsu sando. Menchi for us was similar to a chicken patty and tasted like a chicken meatball. The portions for both were filling, flavorful, and of high quality. The onsen tamago was just like I remembered--delicate, creamy, and custard-like. It came with rice and garnish though I wish there were more eggs!

Cafe Okawari is a unique but must-try lunch spot for amazing Japanese sandos and bites. I'm come back to try their other offerings. Located in Mission Bay off Townsend, parking is limited to the street but close to public transportation. I recommend this spot to all and am so grateful I started my birthday off here!

Been wanting to go to Cafe Okawari for the longest time but couldn't because they're only open on the weekdays :(

But once we got to try it, it was very worth it! The fruit sando was one of my favorite items, it was so light and refreshing!! We also got the potato croquettes which were yum and a nice light snack.

The curry was really good and worth the purchase but the onsen tamago was not the best and could've had more flavor.

The place was pretty crowded so be prepared to wait for a table, you order in a line first and choose your table so might be hard to find.

I will definitely be coming back for the fruit sando, just wish they were open on the weekends so I could come more easily!!

Headed over for lunch on a weekday around 12:30 pm and it was pretty crowded with most of the tables being filled. We ordered with the cashier when we entered and were luckily able to secure a table soon after. It's a place where you grab the utensils you need at the back and also clean up after you're finished but they do bring the ordered items to your table when it's ready.

Chicken Katsu Sando - The chicken katsu was crisp on the outside, not too thick and juicy on the inside. There was a good amount of sauce and the bread to meat and veggies ratio was very balanced.

Korroke Curry - The curry was so comforting and full of good heat. Their portion of rice to amount of curry was enough to fully coat each bite which we enjoyed. The croquettes were also crisp with light coating and a warm, soft inside.

Seasonal Fruit Sando - The cream filling held up really well even when we ate it last. The fruits were very sweet and I liked that there was a mix of two fruits, strawberry and mango. Super fresh and great dessert sando.

I always love going back here for lunch or dinner because every dish is always done well and every person I've recommended this restaurant to has only ever had praises.

Cool little spot for a quick bite to eat. Their egg salad sando is my favorite here. The chicken katsu is also very yummy, crispy, and tender all at the same time. The restaurant has seating inside and outside with a little cafe addition as well. The ordering station near the entrance is very straightforward with the staff being quite attentive.
