Great, easy affordable kayak rental. Friendly peeps, good service. Can't fault them that the actual experience on the water feels like you're exploring a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Strange but ultimately fun experience!

I attended the Kayaking Basics Class in early August with no prior experience. Our Coach was Patrick. He went through the types of Kayak, uses and differences prior to instructing us in the fundamentals of the Strokes while on land. He was patient with our questions and ensured we were prepared before going on the Water. Once on the water he monitored and assisted in keeping us together. Helped that it was a sunny and calm summer day. We spent about 3 hours on the water practicing the strokes, learning to control the kayak and making our way around the Estuary. The time flew by with nice views along the way. I recommend highly.

I used to rent kayaks from them but no longer. This business USED TO BE great. But things have changed. I called today to ask some questions about rentals and couldn't even finish my questions because the man on the phone kept interrupting me. He was rude and impatient and just plain mean. Not someone I'd want to do business with. So I politely ended the conversation without having my questions answered and called Sea Trek in Alameda. Completely different experience! The woman was patient, kind and clear. It was super easy communication with no rudeness whatsover! I have other friends who rent kayaks with me and from now on, we are going to rent kayaks from Alameda Sea Trek. I kayak to relax and enjoy myself. Not to be more stressed out. So I'm glad that CA Canoe and Kayak isn't the only kayak rental business in the area. I won't be going back there again.

Perfect summer time water front rental near Alameda, by Jack london square, near good restaurants such as thai farm house, opposite of the floating homes, lots of sailing boat houses, can go as far as the island. It is mostly easy, but will get wet as the kayak is a simple kayak board with a small dip, water can get in and from under. the crossing traffic makes it harder. Sometimes we encountered seals. the under the building piles are kind of tricky, try not to get it stuck there, the occasional waves also makes it challenging. In general very scenic : a mix of nature, water, marina, the sun and man made wonders like the floating houses

California Canoe & Kayak does not have rentals from Jack London Square. That's my only negative.

The shop at Brooklyn Basin was great, though. It was easy to book and pay online. They offer two hours of free parking, which was fine for our 90 minute outing. The building is lovely, with very nice restrooms.

Our kayak did not come with a dry bag, but we got our paddles and life vests and made our way to the water. The views in the industrial area are not gorgeous, but it's nice to get out on the water, and build up an appetite to bring to Jack London Square.

I'm not sure we were allowed under here, but it was fun.

Hello Linda, Unfortunately we are having a hard time hiring staff for rental dock. If you know anyone looking for part-time work for the summer send them our way. We hope to open soon at Jack london Square.

Over the past three years, I bought two Current brand kayaks, two nice paddles, two NRS life vests, many dry bags, sun shirts, gloves, and all the trimmings from California Canoe and Kayak.

The boats arrived promptly, the price was right, and their support over the years has been great as I gear up.

When I needed spare parts, they were able to obtain them for me.

They never try to get me to buy extra expensive stuff. All of their recommendations are practical and appropriate for my skill level.

I used to visit their Jack London store, however their new, fancy store on the pier down the street is truly excellent, plus there is a giant, new waterfront park where the community likes to hang out. Come for the kayaks, stay for the roller skating and music.

Recommended. I will keep coming back to this store.

I bought my Red inflatable paddle board from these guys six years ago in the winter on my way down to live in Baja. Best big purchase of my life!

I'd researched which kind of board would best suit me, and I settled on this superior brand. Only problem was, I lived in Tahoe and this was the only place that carried it during the off season (Red is in the UK, and I had no time to order direct). So I drove down from Tahoe to get it enroute to Mexico. They were as nice as could be, and super helpful in assisting me in choosing the ideal paddle for my needs.

Technology has come a long way since then, but I still enjoy using my Red SUP board and am forever grateful to the folks at this shop who so kindly set me up with everything I needed that stormy winter day (when no one else was shopping for SUPS lol).

Look no further than California Canoe & Kayak. They are friendly, well-informed experts who have your best interests in mind. I can't thank them enough.

A couple of friends and I wanted to up out kayaking skills game, and the class we took from CCK really helped us do that! Paid parking nearby and an easy unloading zone for our boats and gear, friendly and skilled instruction that didn't forget the fun factor, and we came away with a lot to think about and practice next time we're on the water. Definitely a gem of a local place.

Was in need of a hobie drive due to dropping mine in the lake so guys please tie off your drive or anything else you don't want to lose if your yak flips . Anyway my mistake Lesson learned. . I searched everywhere for a drive and out of stock everywhere . I found one was in stock at CC&K so I called to verify and they first told me they didn't see it in inventory I was bummed then about 45 min later I get a call back and not only did they say it was available but offered me a used one at $200 off unfortunately it did not have the kickup fins from what a great sales man named Harley who explained to me the difference and also took care of me down to packing and shipping and delivery in 2 days . I recommend the service and product is 5 star for me . Great over all experience.

First off it's a bit overpriced for kayaking BUT they made it really easy to book online. You can bring your dog. They just had us fill out an extra form and took our IDs. The staff was very helpful. I'd say definitely book for 1.5 hours cause even turning around after 30 mins took us awhile to get back since the current was pushing us backwards. Paid parking near the establishment and many restaurants to eat at. Overall, it was a great experience.

      First class customer service!
My friend and I went in to CA Canoe and Kayak to research kayaks and approach buying our first one.
We learned so much about the different types of Kayaks, and their strengths and weaknesses as the staff bent over backwards for us setting up different models for us to look at and try out in store.

They truly went beyond the call of duty with all the time they spent with us with NO sales pitch and pressure to buy which made it a relaxing and pleasurable experience.
Clearly these folks are very experienced kayakers and have a passion for boating they are eager to share!
We finally decided on a boat we are both really excited about it.
Ca Kayak is a local neighborhood store that treats its customers with a level of hospitality that seems to be a thing of a past. If you want exemplary service, at a well managed, organized store that has an abundant and diverse selection of inventory for all budgets, go no further!
