California Landscaping & Design

This is a review that is a year after the job was completed and we are still so pleased with the work done by CLD, Randeep and his crew at our Elk Grove home.
The work was good, done efficiently and to spec. The result was better than hoped for because of Randeep's recommendation and knowledge. He is easy to work with and fair even though we had to reduce the scope and the heavy rains during that winter that caused significant delays and messed up his schedule with all the other projects. They got it done when the rain subsided so we were pleased with timing.
He really helped us by suggesting plants to fit what we were thinking would work best in the project. We do not know squat about plants and his recommendations were great especially with color with size. We purchased the individual plants ourselves to allow us to pick out what we liked at Green Acres and a place to purchase a Pygmy Palm but he had his crew pick up all the plants about 25 of them and planted them per the project.
He drove me to another site in a nearby neighborhood to look at colors of a rock he suggested but we didn't use that recommendation but talking it through but it was nice to understand the options for the best solution for us.
We were on the same page for almost all the project but there was slight confusion with the border strip and then we chose the cheaper bender board because of cost, but he strongly recommended another option since we were a corner house and took a loss on that part with the other better option because he wanted the job to look right. I offered to pay more of it but he kept to the contract price saying that part that was on him because he really wanted the project to come out right and us to be happy.
The recommendations by Randeep and the main guy running the project and doing a lot of work was reassuring and that was important for us who are not versed in landscaping. They gave the the questions and options and completed the project with full satisfaction. Thanks!!

Randy and his company are beyond incompetent. The final straw was when they broke two of my sprinklers back in June and had the audacity to suggest it wasn't their responsibility to fix them. After constant pressure over the course of 2 months, they finally repaired the sprinklers.

Randy is dishonest and you can trust him as far as you can throw him. His communication is non-existent unless you hound him, and when he does respond, it's just more lies. He makes promises he has no intention of keeping, leaving you to deal with the mess. Just look at the text messages I had with him--empty promises, followed by excuse after excuse (truck broke down, schedule was off, too busy to do a good job, can't find good employees, etc.) I kept alllllll the receipts, Randy.

There was trouble right off the bat: I had to clarify basic expectations about the services his team would provide because their initial work was subpar. Randy assured me that everything would be handled "over the course of the month." That was the first of many broken promises.

Immediately following that first red flag, you can see how I expressed my concerns after several weeks of their so-called "service." Despite my clear communication, Randy's team only mowed the lawn and ignored all the other necessary tasks like weeding, trimming, and plant care. His responses were just more empty promises that were never fulfilled.

The service is horrendous--things are either done late, done wrong, or not done at all. Randy's company is a joke. They don't take responsibility, they don't respect their customers, and they have no clue how to run a business. Worst of all, the business owner throws his own team under the bus instead of accepting personal responsibility for his own shortcomings.

If you value your time, money, and sanity, stay as far away from Randy and his company as possible. They'll break your stuff, lie to your face, and then drag their feet for months to fix it. This is the worst experience I've ever had with any service provider. Do not trust them with anything.

Enjoy the screenshots, I hope everyone sees you for who you really are: a terrible business owner with no morals.

Edited to add: Thanks for the public slander, I appreciate you writing out these lies. Let me address some of the falsehoods you spoke about:

- So far, I've paid $750 cash. $500 was up front to your first service worker who you said you fired. $250 was given to another worker in May when I still thought you were an honest businessperson.
- You want me to pay for repairing sprinklers you broke? LOL.
- I hope you file a report with EGPD - I have proof you didn't do jack and skipped out on multiple weeks of service.
- You have such a creative imagination that you gotta pull the race card hahaha. I've not once spoken to your workers, except to say thank you, offer water, or to provide payment. Luckily for me, every single one of these interactions is caught on camera. You can lie all you want, but videos don't lie. You even admit it in the texts that it's your fault and you haven't billed me for services due to issues on your end. "It's been an issue with getting the employees to do their job. I'm very sorry. It's all my fault. I just can't seem to have these guys do their job...it's just one bad apple we can't get right...I just can't find good employees." LOL. Anyway, don't believe me, read the texts for yourself and come to your own conclusion.

We'll be using this service more in the future. Job was done timely. Clean up was complete.

Fantastic experience from start to finish...

I have been a Yelp user for several years, but this is the first time I've been inspired to leave a review. After searching high and low (received about 20 estimates) for a landscaper who could not only meet my budget and creative vision but also improve on my ideas, I knew the search was over when Jeff came to give me an estimate. Besides being easy to connect with, he offered great suggestions so it felt like a partnership rather than me having to come up with all of the solutions myself.

My yard was just dirt and weeds when I moved in, and all I had managed to get done was the concrete patio and walkway. Jeff offered attractive, creative ideas within my budget. He met me at the gardening store to advise me on how the plants I selected would fit the backyard design. He made himself available throughout the whole process, day or night, to answer the many questions I had along the way. Plus, he was responsive to my follow-up questions after the job was finished. And as if that wasn't enough, his crew installed my store-bought gazebo for me, saving me a significant amount of money compared to all the other quotes I had received.

On top of all this, they were booked out for several months, but because my job was relatively small, he offered to work on it in between other jobs, as long as I could be flexible. They ended up completing the work a couple of months before my original start date!

It's clear that Jeff and his crew take pride not only in completing their work but also HOW they do their work. Their communication, follow-through, and consistency are excellent. It's comforting to know that beyond having a backyard where I love to hang out, if I have future landscaping needs, I now have knowledgeable, affordable, friendly professionals on speed dial that I can trust.

After many years of mediocre to flat out poor service I am finally done. Randeep made many promises and delivered on very few. A very nice guy at first, but that does not get the job done. He was not responsive to multiple requests for enhanced work or questions about service needs. My lawn was brown, with dead spots, for well over a year. His crew has no issue mowing brown and dead lawn. They will literally mow dirt. The crew is inadequately trained and the turnover is off the charts. I wasted thousands of dollars to get my yards looking right. While he started off nice enough that transitioned to arrogance that was uncalled for. It got to the point that his go to was to assert how slammed he was with work. Oddly this was the reason he used this to deflect from taking appropriate care of existing customers. Be wary of using this business and going by the reviews. Over forty reviews reference Jeff, who is outstanding. In full transparency Jeff is no longer, in any way affiliated with Randeep. Many of the pictures, showing Jeff's outstanding work, have nothing to do with Randeep or the business page at this point. Buyer beware!

A big thank you to Randeep and his team. My experience with California landscaping has been wonderful..
My first mistake was thinking I could do the job myself. Finding myself in too deep, way too much work. I called California landscaping and design, the best decision I ever made. Working with Randeep was more than I ever expected. He is great to work with, he heard my invision and made it happen. I am very grateful and happy with my front yard. Thank you Randeep.

Over the past 1.5 years, we have worked with the California Landscaping & Design company on a number of projects for our home. First, we replaced a portion of our backyard (after another landscaping company failed to show up for the job). California Landscaping & Design not only showed up to complete the backyard project, but they were also super friendly, great communicators and true professionals.

Based on this experience (and some front yard dreams/aspirations), we knew we needed to work with the California Landscaping & Design team again to complete our front yard project.

When I reached out to Jeff for the front yard work, he developed a flawless dry-river rock bed design that included moss rocks, up-lights, path lighting, raised planters and trees. He remained readily available as we navigated our HOA paperwork process, and responded via text, email and phone as we had questions arise.

As you can see, the "Before" pictures display our yard with the standard new build landscaping. The "After" pictures show how our home is now the talk of the neighborhood! AND...the work was completed beautifully and within 3-days! We would highly recommend this company for any landscaping and design needs.

If you are looking for a local friendly, considerate, and reliable company to help with your yard keeping needs, I highly recommend Randeep and his team. They are even kind enough to work around my toddler's nap time so not to wake him up! Their price is very reasonable for lawn mowing and weeding. Great communication.

My yards were dead clay lots full of weeds, overgrown bushes, broken sprinklers and busted drains. I got a couple quotes from local landscapers, and not only did Jeff offer competitive prices but he also seemed to be the only one who understood what our lawn needed and what we were asking for. His estimate was very detailed including his plans and prices for each area of the remodel, giving is complete transparency and allowing us to add or remove as we saw fit. We already had a plan for what we wanted, but he was able to work with us, telling us what would and wouldn't work, and offering great suggestions along the way. His communication and flexibility throughout the project were top class.

His entire crew was polite and professional. Everyone was competent and hard working, knocking out a pretty big job in less than two weeks despite some unforseen difficulties my lawn provided. The results surpassed my expectations. We finally have a lawn I can use. One that I think looks great now and still gives us room to grow and add our own touches to.

To summarize the work done:
Back and front lawns torn out and replaced with fresh soil, sod, rock, and mulch.
New smart irrigation system installed with sprinklers for lawn and drip for bushes and trees.
New drainage with sump pump
New concrete paths and patio poured
Old rotting pergola removed.
Around 30 new bushes/flowers planted and 2 trees.
Cleanup of other areas bordering the property which weren't receiving major work.

Jeff and his crew were super easy to work with, reliable, and professional. I had a relatively small job but they worked with me on all the details and got it done just as we had agreed. Since then I've called Jeff for advice and small jobs like hauling off materials. Jeff's always been willing to help, and has given me some good advice as the project has moved on. Definitely recommend Jeff and his guys.
