      Thanks YELPers.
They actually had the part for a Eureka 1924 G Upright vacuum cleaner.

One phone call; gave them the model # and a brief description for a missing power switch. They had it in stock.

Also, picked up some fresh vacuum bags.

Customer service: fine. It's big store, that is also a sewing and cloth store.

      Parking: in front and side.

Had a replacement battery for our handheld Dyson installed- it works great and they were very friendly when we picked it up.

Would definitely come back & use them again, though hopefully won't need it for awhile

I called them today to ask for a base price in servicing my vintage Viking Husqvarna sewing machine model #6030. I mentioned I had completely cleaned it, oiled it with synthetic silicone oil, and it was working except for a bobbin-needle timing issue with thread not catching. Could they give me some estimate of charges on servicing a machine like this which would involve adjustments to timing and ensuring all belts and parts were okay not needing replacements. They would not quote any price at all. Usually, there is a set servicing price in all stores. Nope. Not here.

I asked if he knew what caused the needle not to catch the thread? Any light he could shed on it, so I could eliminate a bent needle or such before I brought him my machine. I really wanted to see how helpful he was before I did business with him. Well, he hung up on me. Time spent on phone call was 1 min total. So I did not waste his time. He failed the test of being a friendly, helpful sewing machine technician which is what we want and need in this business. Truly poor customer service. If this is your 1 min customer service attitude, there is no way I am bringing all my sewing machines to you for regular servicing. I have 4 of them. You lost my business and all the people I would have referred to you and items I would have bought from your store.

DO NOT GET YOUR PRECIOUS SCISSORS SHARPENED HERE!!!!!

I'll never forgive this place for ruining my gorgeous pair of Tula Pink scissors. The dude who sharpens scissors aka WRECKS them stripped the screw, now the scissors won't even cut paper.

I don't even live in California anymore (if you do, GTFO! you don't know freedom unless you escape) but I am still trying to use these poor scissors and am constantly reminded of this place ruining them.

We just took our Dyson to a REPUTABLE competitor of California Sewing and Vacuum. The tech guy showed us that the previous guy, Andy, hadn't even bothered to replace the two filters, and even worse, he found a pen and other garbage stuck up inside the works of the vacuum. That means that ANDY didn't do anything with our Dyson except replace the cord and clean the outside of the machine. This borders on fraud. The guy is a ripoff artist. It's too late to get our money back from him, unfortunately. Again, don't trust your vacuum with this guy.

The first time I came here 1-2 years ago, I remember prepping myself for a bad experience given all the poor Yelp reviews. But you know, it was actually quite a nice one! I've visited multiple times since to buy fabric, thread, and sewing notions for different projects and also to test sewing machines. I like that the employees will ask if if they can help me but if I'm just looking around, they'll let me be and I appreciate that.

I've only spoken to Raza the owner once during my last trip and he was pleasant. We didn't talk much though so I can't say much else. I've interacted with Cindy just once and she was helpful in selecting notions for my projects.

I've interacted the most with Thuy and Sergio though and they are my absolute favorites. Both have always been welcoming and are pretty cool about letting me test and play around with different machines. I remember the first time I visited, I let Sergio know how I was a new sewist and he pointed me to the introductory Bernina. I was super surprised since at every other store I'd gone to, they were trying to sell me on the top end models! Sergio's consideration to my circumstance and budget really took me by surprise and this is definitely one of the contributing factors as to why I continue to shop here at CA Sewing & Vacuum!

One thing to note is that I only ever visit on weekdays to try and avoid the weekend crowds. Not sure if that contributes to getting better customer service or not but I'd recommend it! Haha.

I took my miele vacuum to be repaired here. Stopped working, after a day they told me it was the motor, so need to buy a new machine, looked for my receipt found it. Under warranty, 7yrs for warranty. Came back to store, guess what told them about warranty they said oh no not the motor the power cord. Now I'm suspicious $140 for a new power cord. Called Miele and they told me need authorized service provider to do repair to keep warranty. This store is not an authorized service provider. So I went to an authorized service provider and they found it had just overheated and nothing needed to be fixed. I just needed to change bag. These people obviously didn't check the machine at all and were just trying to get my money. I will never go there again!!!!!

I took my Bernina 750 in for service and the needle not centering and the automatic thread cutter jamming. Paid $600. Was told by owner that the needle not centering was operator error and I needed to use a different foot. I have had the machine over 10 years and never had a problem. The thread cutter was replaced twice and now unthreads the needle if I use it. Topper was though that when I went to change the needle, the tech had screwed the screw so tight it broke off in the machine and now I have to pay hundreds of $$ to replace the whole needle mechanism. Took it to Meissner and another lady in the store said she heard the same thing happened to someone else. Meissner called and said when they opened machine they found a broken part that had been scotched taped back together and I believe them. Please learn from my experience and don't take your machine to California Sew n Vac. Horrible experience.

This place deserves a NEGATIVE 10 star!!!

We came in looking for a basic sewing machine. A friendly lady associate was kind enough to help us when she was called to attend another matter. So we continue to browse the availability of other types of machines.

A male employee came over & that's where the drama began. He did not offer to help or introduce himself but treated us with the most worse customer service one could ever imagine.

How rude and disrespectful the owner of the shop was. We were eyeing at a Bernina sewing machine and asked him where's the work table. Apparently this model did not come with any extension of the work area. It just has a free arm. He said 'you have to buy it'. Most sewing machines come with a removable section to sew pants or sleeve. When we question him about it again, he just kept repeating "you have to buy it" in a harsh manner & very stern voice.

He did not offer any sort of customer service. He left to do something else so we kept looking and trying to test the machine out. We looked at the features, the model number, and where it was made. We turned the machine to its side to see where it was manufactured. Then here comes "Mr. Grump" saying "you're going to drop my machine". He came over and YELLED at us as if we were idiots. Instead of diplomatically saying "let me help you with this" or "how can I assist you" , he accused us of going "to drop my machine". We explained that we wanted to see where it was made. He was so furious with us because we tilted the machine to its side to see where it was made.

We told him he lost a customer & he had the audacity to tell us to 'have a day'.

PRICE GOUGING ALERT! This was my first time going to this store. I had a specific sewing machine I was interested in buying and already knew approximately how much I would be paying because my sister had recently purchased the machine. I was in complete shock at the price. It was $800 more than I expected. After I told the sales lady how much my sister paid, she had no response. I sat in my car in their parking lot and started calling other stores. I got a great deal from another store, drove straight over and purchased the machine. I discovered that not only did they insanely mark up the cost of the machine, they marked up the "retail value" by $600. SHAME ON YOU FOR PRICE GOUGING!
