Hmm. I had some high hopes for this place. It's in the most beautiful location in one of my favorite cities I've ever been to, and alas, maybe it's a little cocky for these reasons. There are great aspects to this place beyond the setting though. The staff is friendly (albeit a little abrasive at times with our particular server). The man taking care of us listed the specials, and his favorite dish. I am pleased to say his personal recommendation was actually the strongest dish. We did go for the fried oysters, and I will NEVER eat those again. That might be personal taste, but they were entirely too fishy for me. The special that night was a seafood trio, with salmon, scallops, and jumbo shrimp. Our server recommended the roasted sablefish. The salmon was weak in comparison to the sablefish. The scallops were a little overdone and rubbery, and I pity the fool who cant make shrimp taste good, so thankfully, those were alright. We saw that there were fingerprints on my cousins's wine glass (and since were both fairly familiar with the restaurant industry), and when we noticed, we didn't bother saying anything. We did, however, begin with a champaign toast, and at that time, the maitre'd took our wine glasses since we "wouldn't be needing them yet." We both appreciated how smoothly he pulled that off. There was live music in the bar area, so we headed in there for cocktails afterward, and had a great time. All in all, a very pleasant evening, worthy of four stars, but the food really could have been better. When I order salmon at a seafood restaurant on the harbor, I expect it to be pretty frickin perfect. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This place is great. Went with my wife for our anniversary dinner. Food was great, service was great, and the vibe of the restaurant and decor is great.

Ronnie hooked us up with a seat at the oyster bar and is one of the friendliest service industry workers I have ever interacted with.

The food was amazing, I highly recommend the peanut butter cheesecake. Also a cut of salmon that was one of the best things I have ever ate.

Cardero's is ideally situated overlooking the marina. It's much nicer inside than the pictures convey. Since it's always packed in the evening we decided to go for Sunday lunch, and it was delightful.

We shared the rather massive dockside platter, which included 12 oysters, 12 clams, 12 mussels, 6 prawns, a whole Dungeness crab, ahi tuna tataki, salmon poke, miso-ginger vinaigrette, red wine mignonette, cocktail sauce, and fresh grated horseradish. Everything was great. My wife loved the oysters, and I loved the clams and mussels. The crab was a bit of work, but worth it.

There's a nice wine list (no bargains).

Service and the entire staff were very friendly and welcoming. A great place for seafood, and to enjoy the view.

We could see this restaurant from our hotel window! We could not get a reservation, however, we were able to walk in and we were seated on the patio immediately!
The place is always packed and for good reason! Salmon, shrimp and scallops, all great choices! The potatoes were ok.
If you're down by the waterfront, check it out!

This place is a gem! Everything was So delicious! I love the setting. The view is excellent and breathtaking. All of the food was very well prepared. Service was efficient, personal and so helpful. You could tell it's a kind of restaurant where the staff has been there a long time. They also have live music in the bar. We went there two times and had the delicious salmon, halibut, seared tuna, and double lobster tails. We topped it off with the icebox lemon cake. Great selection of beers and wines. So yummy!

Service was attentive and prompt -- thank you Logan!
The Arctic char had a nice sear on the outside but moist and tender on the inside. The brussel sprouts were really sour (probably from lemon juice), though we asked for no cheese, so maybe the cheese normally balances it out. The truffle fries were a hit!

Lots of room for a work lunch. Would come back again!

Good food and service was superb. I would give this restaurant a 5 if they had more local fresh catch. But we all had the plank salmon and a squid wok appetizer which was very good. The portions aren't Texas size but appropriate and the price point was a bit high with the entree at $ 32. Margaritas were very nice.

      Squid appetizer excellent

Halibut here is drier than Sahara desert! Very small portion and no flavor at all. Literally tastes like cotton balls in fish form. Can you believe they charge $45 for that? Mushroom tagliatelle is alright. I gave 2 stars because we got avocado/ tuna/ tomato salad and at least that had flavourful dressing.
Good ambiance but bruh fish is extremely subpar

      The ambiance of course is
Nice. Customer service was stellar, but the fish and chips were mediocre. Fries were cold and the fish batter was soggy not crispy at all.

"On the shore I look and see
Lights from far away come back to me
      On the Waterfront"
      (Leon Russell)

We had one night in Vancouver before our cruise ship took us away to Alaska. One of my Canadian friends recommended Carderos for dinner, and since it was about 100 yards down the waterfront from our hotel, four of us gave them a try for dinner. And I'm glad we did, because Cardero's was great.

Cardero's was big and spacious with such a deep seafood menu, I found it hard to decide what I wanted.

I chose a cup of Manhattan Clam Chowder ($9CAD).and Red Curry Prawns ($24CAD). I also opened with a cocktail, in this case a Manhattan Sour ($15.50 CAD),The Manhattan was terrific, and was a nice way to kick things off.

My two dishes were fantastic- great flavor, great presentation, and decent pricing.

My chowder was excellent- with plenty of chopped clams, diced potatoes, carrots and onions.

The Red Curry Prawns were even better -served in a spicy broth with shrimps, bean sprouts, veggies and a side of white rice. What a fantastic appetizer.

Without question Cardero's would be in my rotation if I lived in the Vancouver area
