We wanted to sell our low mileage used Camary without any hassle.
We brought the car over at 10:00 am and we were immediately checked in.
After they verified their cash offer, they took the car did a complete inspection and came back an updated cash offer which matched the number which we hope for (just $400 less than original offer). They started title transfer processes and presented us with a check before 1:00 pm.
They even called for Lyft ride for us (20 miles).

Something very nice from Carmax is that they can bring cars from remote dealerships closer to you for a test drive, and free of charge and no obligation in many cases

One car I requested for test drive from another location, less than 50 mi away, took about 2 weeks to arrive. And when it arrived, it was obvious that it was in pretty bad shape (the pictures showed it very nicely). The sales person ended up apologizing for the condition of this car.

Another car came in less than a week (from the same location) had been recently discounted. I took it to my own mechanic who found that $1200+ in repairs were required. Those were maintenance items not covered by Carmax 3 month warranty, and they passed the Carmax ' exhaustive' inspection because Carmax seems to have a low quality standard.


The sales representative was open and honest. They have a no haggle policy, prices are a bit higher, but quick to close a deal as there is no negotiation on price.

The 10 day return policy and the 3 month warranties are of value. But I don't trust their inspection report anymore, and would pay my own mechanic to perform a full inspection. Nice thing, is that we can inspect after purchasing and still return if we don't like it. Also, don't trust all those online pictures.


Update: I recently took the vehicle to service, and the checkin was fast and easy. They need to order a part, so I'll be returning for it. The 3 month warranty covers the issue, they didn't even mention that it would be an uncovered repair. This is very good. The technician even fixed a small issue that one of my guests caused without additional cost.

Don't go anywhere else if you are trying to sell your car. We just sold our 2021 Honda Pilot SE to the Fremont CarMax and were absolutely amazed at how efficient and professional this place and their staff are. Not only did this place beat all of their competitors' online offers for our car, which was in excellent condition but there was no hassle with their initial offer at all when we showed up for our appointment. After submitting necessary paperwork online and setting up an appointment, we met with our appraiser at 11:55am today and we walked out of there at 12:22pm with a cashier's check in our hands. Kem was thorough and trustworthy and we were happy to have walked out of there in less than 30 minutes! Highly recommend this place!

We purchased a car from carmax based on the promise that after 90 days they will provide service maintenance on all vehicles purchased.
Got a call from Fremont service department cancelled our service appointment only saying they will no longer honor the service promise to work on cars purchased after 90 days. Has anyone else received a corporate rule change? We only received a verbal call.
Is this a corporate rule change? There is nothing on their website stating this.

Nishan is quite possibly the worst salesperson possible and he lacks the knowledge required to work at this establishment. He had us make an appointment and once we showed up, discovered that our appointment was invalid and we had to wait 1.5 hours in order to sell our car.

My experience selling my car with Carmax was great overall. The process from start to finish was a lot easier than I expected. I decided to sell with Carmax because compared to other quotes I received, they offered me the greatest value for my 2019 Acura ILX. Also, I had a friend who recently had a great buying experience at this location.

I started with getting my offer online, their mobile website is really user friendly. Once I received my instant offer (which is good for 7 days), there was an option to schedule an appointment, but I went to this Fremont location shortly after without a confirmed appointment. I was greeted by an associate and was able to check in at the counter. Within a few minutes, the appraisal started, I received my appraisal offer, and then I waited for them to prepare the paperwork. They were quite busy this Saturday afternoon so it did take a couple hours to process the sale, but I wasn't in a rush. Thank you to Aiko and David W for your kind and professional service!

I've had the best experience with Henry Jaja here at the Carmax in Fremont. He had the best customer service and greeted me as soon as I walked into Carmax. He has a very welcoming vibe & went into great details to help me with my car that I had purchased. He's very thorough with the paperworks. I felt very safe making a purchase with him. A few months ago, we purchased a car thru Carmax in the Pleasanton location. Recently, we noticed a weird sound of the engine and wanted to get it checked. Unforrunately, only the fremont location was available for service in a month or so. I was not in a hurry and decided not to drive the car until the appointment.

On the day of the appointment, I dropped off the car so they can perform a diagnostic. Later got a call from Jonathon, the engine would need new parts such as spark plugs, gasket, alternator, intake, and belt. This repair would cost a few thousand, but thank God we purchased Maxcare warranty and got approved. Only thing we had to pay was the deductible and spark plugs. The warranty also covers $40 per day rental from Enterprise so Jonathon helped book it.

The repair took about 2 weeks, but Jonathon and other staff kept me updated everyday. They test drive the car to make sure everything is working properly. Once the car was ready, They got Lyft to pick me up from work to Carmax. Jonathon went over the transaction and even got an oil change and new oil filter.

The car is running like new and thanks for the amazing service!

Shay was SO helpful and thorough when helping me buy my Honda Odyssey. I brought my son in with me to check out the car after we saw it online and made an appointment. She was super nice to both of us and included him in showing us the car and all the fun and extra aspects of it. She made him feel comfortable, which is hard to do since he is normally very introverted and I really appreciated that. She went through all of the paperwork with me gave me the best options and was completely honest with me about the extra bells and whistles. I'm so glad that I got to buy my car from her. I felt good driving off the lot and I love love love my new van
