My husband and I went on one of our first dates here 17 years ago and I've been obsessed ever since. I normally avoid bar seating but their happy hour is a must. For food, the mushroom flatbread is not to be missed and the ostrich burger is hands down the best burger I've ever had. To Die For. Super chill, non pretentious ambiance, with a relaxed service style.

first time to carpe diem in forever. sadly it has changed so much. it used to be bussling and now its sort of mellow.
we didnt see the usual options we originally saw before, especially the famed Twix bar which was a favorite back then
my friend has the risotto which wasn't great, and I had a fish of some sort.
we also remember the French fries being carpe style which we also didnt see. the restaurant said they also didnt serve ketchup with the fries.
so sad.
ambiance - normal napa style sit down dining, without intimacy, bc they were hammering something while we were dining there.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 13, 2024
The food was alright. I actually did like the broccoli cream soup of the day a lot. The food was generally pretty expensive and not very big but no complaints. Honestly expected so not an issue. The 24 hour braised short rib was pretty good, boneless and very soft, softer than tofu. Creme brûlée was pretty good. They also gave me a free lemonade and vanilla ice cream with a candle for my birthday! I was here for delayed birthday celebration, my birthday is March 13 and we came on April 13.
I'd give the food 3.5 stars. 4 for some dishes.
The place was nice but way too loud for me, that was because of other customers though, not the restaurant's fault. I'm surprised a "fine dining" place of this price range was this loud! Luckily I had Loop earplugs with me but it was still very loud. This is not an ad and I am not affiliated with Loop. Just be prepared if you're sensitive to noise. Probably not an issue for most neurotypical people but I have ADHD :(
Service was amazing. Our server was cool and friendly. He was helpful with recommendations and an issue with billing (they forgot to give a free appetizer for a Yelp check in but he fixed it for us). The girl in the front (hostess?) was very nice. She walked me to the bathroom because it's pretty deep in a hallway and also complimented my Loop earplugs :0 It's been awhile since I've gotten a compliment from a cute girl (they become rarer since finishing school!) so that was really nice! She was really sweet and that lowkey made my day
I'll say food is 3.5-4 stars, establishment is nice, noise is an issue but beyond their control and most likely not an issue for most people, and service is 5 stars!

We had a delicious evening at happy hour here! The bar tender and host were both very friendly and provided excellent and attentive service. We started off with the dealer's choice cocktail, which for tonight was the lemon drop. They have a pretty extensive happy hour menu - we tried the wild mushroom flatbread, which was covered with fresh cheese and mushrooms. The taco of the day was short rib which was delicious as well. The dungeness crab arancini was really good, and we ordered a second plate of these. Both the shortrib poutine and the chicken parmesan were very generous portions. Definitely worth visiting anytime you're in Napa!

First time I tried the chef's tasting menu and it was over the top. Every dish was delicious and presentations were amazing. The wine pairings were perfect and I'm always very open to giving constructive criticism on pairings but all the wines matched perfectly with the dishes. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food and wine. I highly recommend the chef's tasting menu but you can't go wrong if you order off the regular menu. Service was the best and multiple outdoor seating areas just add to the experience. If you're in Napa this is a must try restaurant if you're into food and wine.

The friendliest service ever - really liked Koray. He seemed to love his job. Very personable. The food was great too - good portions. Lots of Italian food. Enjoyed the olives - warm ones. The Caesar salad and bread pudding was also quite yummy. They have lovely house bread with sea salted butter. The short rib and branzino was also tasty. We didn't love the duck - a little too rare. Reasonable prices. In the downtown area so places to go afterwards. Ambiance is good. Not something super memorable. Good cocktails.

Make a reservation if you're coming here for dinner. The service is excellent, but the food is mediocre. It seems like most restaurants in Napa follow this trend. The exterior has a sewer smell, but the restroom looked pristine. The interior is crowded since the tables are quite close to each other.
I had the fish of the day, which was a Chilean Sea bass. Delicious. Meanwhile my dad's Iberian pork was way too salty. He kept eyeing my fish of the day instead.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Mar 26, 2024Updated review
Dinner with the family here was delicious. Attentive service and well balanced entrees. Recommend. I love their short ribs.
Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0Jul 22, 2023Previous reviewThe bartender Sam is an incredible cocktail scientist in every good sense of the title. The staff here is like family and the warmth is palpable as you dine here and when you sit down you are treated like an old friend. He is presently working on a new cocktail imbibe for an Indian wedding venue. We suddenly became a part of his process. He wanted our opinion ... so he walked over with a plastic container poured a tasting in two small shot glasses with the current prototype and and asked for our opinions. Creativity in a Science lab, right ? Such a unique experience.
We are always amazed and appreciative.
Every regular customer seems to have a drink innovated for them. Carpe Diem is the bar where they know you by the cocktail they invent for you.
Having dinner here is worth it every timeApr 1, 2023Previous reviewSam the bartender walks over to our table and takes our cocktail order..."what kind of cocktail would you like?"
I look at the Happy Hour menu and it says "cocktails" ... no fancy names or descriptions..
Cocktails $9 ( customized)
Sam continues to say that he can create any concoction I desire. He goes on to urge me to describe my favorite flavors in a cocktail or what sort of cocktail would I fancy just then. I describe the cocktail that would be perfect. He returns with an unnamed magical and unique Fancy Friday imbibe. Unbelievable concoction of lychee, whisky, foam topped with a mint sprig. Very rarely will a bar tender design a drink based on your description of what you would desire. Design Thinking or Human Centered Design is alive and well in Napa, Ca.
As a human design thinking practitioner in my career, I was taken aback by Sam's simple but completely natural practice of his Art of Bartending.
The bar. People. Magical

At first, we were waiting for a few minutes to check-in in front of the check in booth. The server/Host Ali came up and checked in the guest that just came in behind us who was away from the check-in booth which disappointed me and thought it was going to be one of those bad nights. I then told Ali right away to also check us in as I was getting a little upset then I thought maybe because we blended in with the other group of Asians that were waiting also.
Next, Ali then asked who was here first and the other guest kindly said that we were. Ali then took us to our table.
The restaurant ambiance was nice and can be crowded at times. No loud music and the guests there can be loud as well which I don't mind. The restaurant looks nice and clean.
Ali was our server, and later on, he did A wonderful professional job taking care of us and with the food and dessert suggestions. He was a very nice and kind server and made sure we were good and that the food was good and kept our drinks full.
The food was great there also.
Thank You Ali for the great and wonderful experience. Thanks for singing Happy Birthday to my wife also.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 29, 2023
Cute bar/restaurant! Seize the day! Would've seized more of other menu items but was dining with a vegetarian so wanted to order things we could share.
Food was really good, everything was fresh and flavorful. We were good with our drinks, 2 salads and the cheese platter. So we only had a few bites of the mushroom flatbread and carbonara before we took them to-go. Totally looking to attack the Chilean sea bass and short ribs next time, minus the vegetarian!
Their espresso martini is to die for!
Colton was friendly and attentive. Thnx for taking care of the issue with the water.
Side note: Thnx, J. Gabriel, for correcting the charge issue. Appreciate it!
See ya next time!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 1
