Causewells is a great, casual neighborhood restaurant with delicious food, warm & welcoming staff & atmosphere. I've dined here many times & the menu changes seasonally but the Americana burger is one of their staple dishes. I brought my friend here to experience their burger & she was impressed. Perfectly grilled, juicy double patty cheeseburger was presented on a toasted bun with a side salad or option of fries (I chose the fries & my friend opted for the salad). We started out our meal with the house made ricotta with lavosh to share, which was topped with a drizzle of honey & nice & fluffy. We saved room for dessert & I was thinking about the sticky toffee cake as I visited UK earlier this year & enjoyed the dessert in London, Edinburgh & Glasgow. This dessert is quite different from the UK version in that it is more like a dense cake than the fluffy UK version but the flavors are similar.

Service is always warm, welcoming & friendly. Make reservations via Open Table if you can or if you're a larger group, otherwise you can sit at the bar which is equally enjoyable.

      Americana burger with fries -
Solid. One of my favorite burgers in the city. The meat had the right amount of salt and was very juicy. Fries are crispy and thin.

      Crispy Chicken Sandwich -
This was okay. The chicken was a bit dry and didn't have enough sauce.

The service was good and the outdoor seating is comfortable.

This place is awesome! The staff is super friendly, and their food and drink is unique and fabulous. We tried their peel apart bread with hummus dip and it blew. my. mind. The bread was so fluffy and soft and the dipping flavors were rich and flavorful.

Their happy hour includes frozen cocktail drinks which are so so yummy. I'd never tried a frozen spicy watermelon cocktail mix but their "Melon con Chile" was refreshing, and hit the spot! Super unique. They have great outdoor seating, and their location is prime. I highly recommend adding this place to your list if you're in the Marina District or visiting SF!

This place is super cute! It's pretty cozy and intimate inside, not a ton of space to move around. I ordered the Americana burger with fries. Nothing too spectacular, it's more elevated than just going to In-N-Out. It definitely hits the spot if that's what you're craving.
It is a busy restaurant so I'm guessing they try to turn tables over quickly , but I did feel rushed at the end of my meal. I was meeting with a couple of girlfriends I hadn't seen in a while, so that left me a bit annoyed with the service. Overall, decent experience but not sure if I would come again.

Stumbled across this place looking for dinner close-ish to our hotel. The service was fantastic: they seated us quickly in the heated parklet outside. Our table service was attentive and friendly.

The food however left us wishing we had ordered something else...we ordered the 100 later fries with herb aioli (best part of our meal, gourmet fries basically) crispy brussels (a better name would be "hard brussels",) and shrimp linguine with crab and scampi butter. The shrimp linguine dish was just ok....

3 stars for great service, ambience and clean place!

Receipt. The 100 layer potatoes were good...
Shrimp and crab linguine with scampi butter. Just ok, not great.

I found this place on Yelp and wanted to give it a try around 4:15 pm with the family. It seemed promising as it is highly rated so why not go and try it, right?

The restaurant was full so we went ahead and sat on the patio to enjoy the breeze. We arrived during the time where they serve their interesting midday menu - 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Dinner options were not available until 5:00 pm. The midday items - especially for the appetizers were scarce. They gave us a big brochure of bar drinks and a small listing of food items at the time. We can see what makes the money here but we were hungry and wanted food!

Deviled Eggs - Only 3 and very tiny. Overpriced.

      Chicken Sandwich - So-So.

Americana Burger - Bland and Overpriced.

Salad - Non-existent during the midday. They gave my family member just a plate of lettuce when asked for a salad. Really?

Fries - +$3 when added to any entree. Ouch.

Service - Overly attentive which is normally a great thing but we had 4 different servers every few minutes coming by.

All in all, I will not be returning as it was a blah experience. Maybe the dinner menu would have hit the spot. Who knows? You live and learn.

Causwells is a perfect week night meal, or anytime you are craving a burger. I got the chicken burger but my partner got the regular beef burger & I thought that was a bit better, but both are great! These burgers are all SO tasty, & the onion strings are 5 stars on their own! I put the onion strings in my burgers at Causwells, & it hits the spot. I would say this is the best burger I have had in SF!
The service was fast when I went but I can see how the place can get very busy on weekends at peak times!
There are plenty of tables inside & they have an outdoor parklet as well.

Causwells offers a charming ambiance that sets a cozy backdrop for a casual dining experience. The decor is quaint and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal with friends. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating, allowing us to stay even after settling the check.

While the Americana burger was undeniably good, I couldn't help but feel it fell short of the hype. The patty was juicy and cooked just right, but the sauce, which I had high hopes for, didn't quite deliver the punch I expected. The ingredients were fresh, and the burger overall was satisfying, but it didn't quite reach the level of hype I anticipated based on reviews.

I've been here before but forgot to post a review, so I was so thrilled when I got to return with my uncle and friends last night. If you're a burger person, do yourself a favor and indulge in the Americana Burger--this burger is culture incarnate from look and feel to its juicy taste. It is authentic a burger as they come with all the fixings, right down to the American cheese and sesame seed bun. I wish I had gotten I picture, but u had to dig in as soon as it came! I couldn't resist.

Their cocktails are just as good: whether you're looking for a classic martini or something fun and creative.

This restaurant on chestnut is cute both inside and out, and has wonderful, speedy service which is absolutely a god send when you're hungry for a late night dinner. I was happy to catch up and indulge, chatting over a bottle of wine long after our burgers and the side of onion strings (yum) were finished.

Causwells became one of our favorite places in SF.

Food: We ordered the seared octopus 9/10, the fancy pants burger 10/10, crispy chicken sandwich 9/10, and the Americana burger 9/10.

Drinks: We also ordered hazy IPA and the Jin Julep.

Service was excellent. Parking can be a bit of a headache, but this place is worth it. Indoor and outdoor seating available. I highly recommend you make reservations as this place gets busy. The restroom is very cute!
