Central Self Storage

Central Self Storage is amazing! The staff, especially the manager Christy, are extremely pleasant and helpful. They offer reasonable rates and a nicely maintained facility that stays cool enough. I came from San Diego where my storage unit charged more, had limited access hours, and I'd be sweating in the first few minutes inside the facility. CSS also offers a convenient U-Haul service with great rates.

From booking to completion, I was very pleased with the use of technology to communicate details regarding my reservation. Sam was at the front desk when I arrived and assured that I was aware of all the steps outlined in my contract. I felt very safe with our 6 foot distance and confident that I had all my ducks in a row.

In addition, the price was great and the storage units are clean, safe and easily accessible. I can't recommend Self Storage in the Alameda location enough ~ 10/10!

The facility itself is great. As long as you don't have to deal with the people now working there, you're good. We have had a storage unit here for over 10 years, and the customer service has definitely gone downhill.
5 stars for the facility itself, -5 stars for customer service. Wish there was a negative star option for reviews, 1, it is.

Rude! I was late to pick up my u-haul truck because I had an extra hour of traffic going across the bridge and so when I got there, it didn't show me the pick up my truck button on the app so I had to go inside When I calmly explained my situation and said I needed help the lady asked me what my name is and immediately when I told her what it was said it's because YOUR LATE! The entire time I just felt a huge attitude towards her when it was an honest mistake. I've used the service before multiple times and never had a problem, but this location is absolutely ridiculously rude. Also, the spot where you drop off the key is not there. They don't have an orange box like the app says. Instead they have a door slit that is not very well labeled behind a screen door. The U-Haul service itself is fine, but this location is trash, rent your U-Haul from a different location to save yourself a headache and attitude.

Management is pretty rude. I've been with them a year now and today makes the third time I've needed customer service and it's always a hassle. Shocks me bc when I call the phone number the representative are always so pleasant but when management finally reaches back out (ignored three of my emails then responded after I called) they're so dismissive and rude. I just gave birth so once I'm back to normal I'll be moving to a new storage.

I had a small storage unit here for about 6 months during some renovations. Everyone I worked with was very polite and helpful. The facility is clean, easy to access and safe.

We needed a truck to move a desk, so we booked one over at Central Self Storage.

It's a bit pricey - you're paying 99 cents a mile - but it works in a pinch. Service was friendly and thorough, and make sure we had everything we needed before we took off. The truck itself was in great condition as well, and had plenty of space for what we needed to move.

Samantha is FANTASIC! Samantha is 10 stars. However, the assistant manager is really rude, treats people disrespectfully and is condescending. She cancelled my complementary truck for my planned move in and then told me that I didn't have a reservation, I must have called another center to reserve it and claimed that I never left two voice mails to confirm because she checked the machine when she got there and there were no messages. I explained that I did not call to make the reservation, I was in the office and made the reservation with Samantha IN-PERSON! Instead of apologizing, she told me the same thing AGAIN! She continued to say I must have called another center. This in spite of the fact that I explained over and over that I made the reservation IN-PERSON. I left angry and frustrated. Since she had told me that I must have the wrong phone number, I called again. Guess who answered the phone.

I feel that she canceled my reservation because it was "complementary", erased the two messages I left, lied to me me about the above and tried to make me feel stupid by saying over and over again that I must have called the wrong U-Haul center.

We moved to another storage facility where they understand customer service and are nice people. The assistant manager deserves to be unemployed!

great customer service! I was able to stop for boxes and tape and I got a cheap unit cheaper than what I usually pay and it was quick! I was in a tight squeeze, thanks Sam! appreciate all your help!

I had a small unit here for one year and approximately eight months. It was convenient for me and well- maintained. However, it's about the money...always about the money. Specifically, they raised the monthly rate twice during the time I was there. Then, upon vacating the unit on the 11th of the month, they would not refund a prorated portion of the monthly amount. They kept the money even I moved out much earlier.

What started out well has gone downhill. Access to their facility is limited as there are on going issues with the main entrance. I took a day off of work over a month ago as I was moving and needed to move items into my storage. My parents drove from over 2 hours away to help me. We arrived at the facility and were told we could not enter the facility because there were mechanical issues with the door. The same issues that have been ongoing for the past year. I asked why we weren't notified that access would not be possible and was told they didn't anticipate repairs would take longer than a few hours. We left, had lunch, returned a few hours later and were told we could not drive into the facility. Our only option would be to enter through a side door which anyone can go in/out of. Limit access to your paying customers but give thieves complete access. Great idea!

Over a month later and access is STILL limited to business hours only. Over a YEAR later and the issues with the roll up door continue. Asking to speak to a district manager is like trying to speak to someone at the CIA. I was told by Miguel Gamez, the assistant property manager, that he could not give me the contact information for their district mananger but that she "was already contacted. she will call you when she has the chance." That is some craptastic customer service.
