      Top echelon takeout

This is NOT a gourmet Chinese restaurant. It is extremely well executed Chinese takeout. And it is extremely delicious. Given its storied history and connection to crazy rich Asians, probs difficult to snag a reservation during the peak hours. We came for weekday lunch and were able to be seated right away. We got the lettuce wraps and the shrimp with lobster sauce lunch special. Came with a wonton soup. All was well made and delicious. Service here is excellent as well. Clearly they maintain standards as opposed to the usual hole in the wall restaurant. Def will be coming here when the takeout craving hits

      1 check-in

This is one of the best traditional Chinese restaurants in the area. As you walk in, you will see it's elegantly decorated and has many celebrity pictures. I remember when we visited before with friends, the Peking duck was excellent.

For this visit, I arrived in the area late, so just stopped by and bought food to go. The service was prompt and friendly.

I ordered Taiwanese style rice noodles (in the back of the menu) and Hot and Sour soup. Both were excellent for taste and the ingredients used. I was especially impressed that I found a shrimp in the soup!

I can't believe I've always passed by this place and just never tried it. Always heard good things and came here for dinner. I didn't know it was 2 stories either and the parking lot wasn't too packed when we went but during busier times, I can see it being hard to find some parking behind the restaurant.

The menu, like most chinese places, is huge so each person in our party would pick an entree and we would all share, as intended.

      We got the
      - BBQ pork buns
      - Mu shu Pork
      - chicken lettuce cups
      - candied prawns
      - dry-braised prawns
      - mongolian beef
      - pork with imperial sauce
      - seasonal veggies
      - beef chow fun

I don't think there was a single bad bite of food. Our server, Joe, gave us recommendations and was fast, friendly and very helpful. Definitely more than enough food for 6 with leftovers.

I'd come back again with a bigger party just so that everyone can get something and share among the table.

      3 check-ins

Located by the intersection of San Antonio and El Camino, parking spots are plentiful and difficult to find. There's an abundant amount of seating for groups of all sizes. Food is pretty good. The chicken in black bean sauce was tender, but the flavor was a bit overwhelming. The braised eggplant in garlic sauce was good too. Also quite heavy in flavor. Between these 2 dishes, both the chicken and eggplant didn't fully soak in the flavor which was probably why the flavor was overwhelming. Customer service is good.
Overall, Chef Chus food quality has taken a slight dip. Nonetheless the food is still quite yummy.

Chef chu is a long standing institution in the bay. Peking duck is a must when you come. Each dish is crafted well and it's one of those places you can celebrate at. The staff is delightful and every thing we ate was fantastic!

Came here for a banquet-style meal. Loved the Peking duck (they give you a lot of duck), the lamb chop (SO tender that I was able to feed it to my 9 month old), the fried rice with chicken sausage, and the duck soup. Delicious. Also the restaurant was lively without being too noisy which was perfect.

Chef Chu's has been a popular Bay Area establishment for many years, and yet I had never been there before this weekend. This is mainly because I did not eat Chinese food for a long time; maybe because I got burnt out on it from too many family weddings/funerals that included a Chinese restaurant meal. The restaurant is located at San Antonio and El Camino Real. Overall, the food was pretty good. Although I liked the sauce with my lemon chicken, the meat was dry and overcooked. My husband's pineapple chicken, basically, sweet & sour Chicken, was much better. I enjoyed the veggie spring roll and he loved his won ton soup. I ordered an order to go of Tangerine chicken, and my daughter really liked it. Our BBQ pork buns were tasty, but I thought the filling to bread ratio was a little off; it could have used more filling. I would come back to try different dishes. They have a wall of notable past customers including President George W. Bush, Awkwafina, and Henry Golding.

I ordered two dishes - kung pao chicken and seafood noodle soup (Chao ma soup noodles),

The Kung Pao chicken was alright, but the seafood noodle soup was so mediocre. There were too many noodles, clams tasted unclean, soup base was so generic and watered down with very little flavor.

I don't normally have such a negative opinion of restaurant food. This is probably one of the most inauthentic Chinese place I've been to. A disappointment.

We absolutely adore this place. It's been our go-to spot for quite some time now, and it never disappoints. This place is always bustling, so I prefer making a reservation. Getting a same-day reservation is easy; just give them a call. The staff is incredibly friendly. The only thing we wish for is if they checked in with us more often to see if we needed anything.

We've tried several dishes here, including the Famous Chef Chu Chicken Salad, Fried Shrimp, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Classic Dry-Braised Prawns, Hunan-Family Style Tofu, Fresh Basil-Garlic Chicken, and Braised Eggplant in Garlic Sauce. The portion sizes are great, and everything bursts with flavor.

For drinks, I highly recommend their Mai Tai.

We used to live in San Jose and we made trips to Mountain View just for lunch! Great food and great service! The cleaness of the restaurant and bathroom are impeccable!
Now, living in Mountain View, we came weekly or taking to go, we just can't stop eating delicious food of Chef Chu! Thank you!
