Glad to have a good Asian restaurant in North Natomas. I go there for lunch sometimes. I love their bento boxes. No nonsense and not over priced. Tempura is always hot, sashimi is fresh and the salad is refreshing. Overall it is a good meal.

AMAZING! I'm a sushi snob and I have to say, this place exceeded my expectations!

The sushi had an incredible flavor, reminiscent of the quality you'd find at Kru--fresh, delicate, and bursting with taste. The service was top-notch, with the staff being attentive and friendly throughout our meal. The ambiance was equally delightful, offering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that made the experience even more enjoyable. If you're a sushi lover looking for a great dining experience, this place is a must-visit!

Decided to give Chef Frank another try since last time, I thought it was ok good. It was a disappointment this time and I don't think I will come back.

I order through DoorDash around 11:30am for lunch. I ordered the chirashi don, scallop, salmon, salmon toro, o-toro, trout onigiri and the super star roll .

The nigiri were good, especially the scallop. I like the rice ratio, it was on the lighter side which I like. The nigiri fish was fresh but none make me say it was perfect.

Chirashi - supposedly it should have 9 pieces and I got 15 pieces ... I should be happy right? NO.. all this pieces are like the ends. The hamachi and this white fish it was crunchy. The albacore sashimi was meh, I have to spit out a hamachi piece since it had sinew. The 4 pieces of octopus is just so hard to chew. The only good piece in this chirashi is the salmon and tuna. I have never experience this bad of a chirashi.

The super star roll was ok, supposedly it should have truffles.. and yes it did has a .5 cm dot on each piece. I didn't taste any truffle or mushroom sauce or whatsoever. It was bland but edible.

It regret going to chef frank, seriously. I didn't expect that I was given the leftovers end of whatever fish they had. A high quality restaurant should never make this mistakes. This place is overrated for so many 5 stars review.

My family and I frequently visit this sushi spot, as it's one of the best in the Natomas area. The space feels very clean and has a modern Japandi style. The selection of sushi rolls and nigiri consistently exceeds our expectations. The Hokkaido roll and Dragon roll are personal favorites--they're incredibly savory, with the Hokkaido roll offering an especially rich umami flavor.

We celebrated my father-in-law's birthday here and decided to try the 15-course omakase for the first time. It was an exceptional experience! The staff were incredibly hospitable, providing detailed descriptions of each dish as it was served, and they were more than happy to answer any questions we had.

      The 15-course omakase included:

      * Starter: Scallop Martini
      * Appetizer: Uni Crab Meat Monaka
      * Sashimi: Medai (Sea Bream)
      * Chawanmushi: Truffle Mushroom Steamed Egg
      * Nigiri: 10 Pieces of Premium Nigiri
      * Dessert: Red Bean Panna Cotta

The food and service were outstanding, and my family left completely satisfied. Even our toddler, who had a bento box, thoroughly enjoyed his meal and finished everything. To top it off, the restaurant went above and beyond by giving him complimentary ice cream, which made his day. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Japanese cuisine.

I recently visited Chef Frank's in Natomas with my girlfriends, and we had a fantastic experience! The restaurant is situated in a convenient plaza with plenty of other shops, making it a great spot to grab dinner. The service was excellent--our server was attentive, and the food arrived quickly. The restaurant itself was spotless and had a comfortable atmosphere. We started with some hot miso soup and lemon drop sake bombs, which were a hit--perfectly balanced and not too bitter. The spicy garlic edamame had just the right amount of heat, and both the Lion King roll (extra seared) and the Land Park Roll were creamy, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area!

Same-day reservations for two at 5:30 PM were made easily via Google. Find Chef Frank near Five Guys, Dickey's, and Saigon Alley. Seated right away, our server/cashier Nikki was great! She gave some menu recommendations and explained the Chef's Choice Mystery Box, popular items like the Tuna Carpaccio or Salmon Lover, Super Star Roll, Hokkaido Roll (torched), and desserts too.

      Our sushi spread:
Salmon Lover ($22): salmon, avocado, dressing, chili garlic and microgreens mix
Hamachi Kama ($14): grilled yellowtail collar
Vegetable Roll ($12): pumpkin, Japanese sweet potato, cucumber, avocado, soy wrap and sesame seeds
Super Star Roll ($22): salmon, cucumber, avocado, chu-toro (medium fatty tuna), truffles mushroom sauce, micro mix

These were all standout, I couldn't choose a favorite.

For dessert, I'd previously tried the Vanilla Mille Crepe so wanted to try something(s) new. We ended up going for everything else except the Yawamochi Ice this time!

Our sweet treats (mostly yogashi/Western-style confectionaries and desserts):
Azuma Green Tea Cheesecake ($6): creamy delicious sweet green tea blended perfectly with pure vanilla.
Red Bean Panna Cotta ($8): housemade coconut panna cotta with red bean topping.
Matcha Panna Cotta ($8): housemade coconut panna cotta with matcha topping.

The cheesecake slice was mighty good, don't be fooled by its size. Savored every spoonful! The panna cotta is coconut-based (dairy-free!), and was a nice cool dish, with the red bean layer not being overly sweet at all. Halfway through the red bean panna cotta, we ordered the matcha variation to try. For some reason, the matcha panna cotta was a bit more firm/set at the bottom than the red bean ramekin. The matcha topping itself had a pretty strong taste, so if you find matcha too bitter or earthy/grassy, then be warned. I loved it.

This is not just any sushi spot -- the fish is the best quality and super fresh, and the beautiful plates' presentation makes for a more gourmet dining experience for sure. What an amazing meal with my foodie friend Judi. The fish was so fresh, desserts delightful...the perfect bites for this triple-digit weather.

Wow! Just wow! I've been wanting to try Chef Frank Japanese Cuisine for a while, but was trying to hold out for a dine in experience. Today, I finally decided that I couldn't wait any longer and take-out would be fine. Well, it was more than fine.

I ordered over the phone for pick up and decided on the Akami ($9), Tuna Maki ($8), Dragon Roll ($18) and Mystery Box ($60). They're known for their Omakase so I thought the mystery box was a fun way to experience the chef's choice in a to-go order.

The restaurant is clean and welcoming and they offered me water while I waited a couple minutes for my order to be ready. It didn't take long.

Once I got home I realized how nicely everything was packaged as well as the nice chopsticks included and even a little dish for soy sauce. They took so much care in packaging everything and usually I re-plate everything when I get home but it looked beautiful as is.

The fish was so fresh and flavorful and everything I ordered hit the mark. The Dragon Roll had so much fish and the ingredient flavors were perfect together. The tuna maki was fresh and had a great ratio of fish to rice. The Akami was fresh and flavorful too.

The mystery box was an adventure! There's at least two pieces of each item and it's fun to try each item, especially with the accompanying sauces and fresh wasabi. There was a variety of flavors and this could easily be shared for a fun date night adventure.

I knew this spot was well loved, especially with all the stellar Yelp reviews, but now I know first hand. I'll absolutely be back for more take out and hopefully to dine in soon.

We came for dinner before heading to the airport, and is highly accessible to the airport (10min drive). Most tables were filled, but we came in on a Saturday after July 4th and were seated quickly without a reservation.

We were blown away at the quality and freshness of the fish at the price point. We ordered the Hokkaido roll, Natomas roll, Spicy rainbow roll, spicy scallop hand roll, and mixed tempura, and the azuma matcha cheesecake. The plating of all of the dishes also deserves mention - it's immediately clear that great thought and care went into not only the flavors and freshness but also the appearance of each roll.

Our favorite was definitely the Hokkaido roll! The snow crab was fresh and tender and the smoky flavor was unexpected and lovely. The spicy scallop hand roll was also a standout, with a generous portion of fresh scallop.

We're from NYC where sushi places run the gamut but Frank's sushi puts many of those places to shame. If you're a local or just looking for a quick delicious meal before heading home, absolutely check out Frank's!

I made reservations here for my bf and I tonight for his birthday. We decided to go with the chefs special omakase, which was $125 pp. We came in with high expectations and left extremely satisfied.

The service was amazing here. We were greeted by the most friendly and welcoming staff then seated right away. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our experience. He was also extremely knowledgeable about all the dishes and answered every question we had. There were 4 chefs behind the bar. They were all friendly as well. Luckily, we were blessed to have Chef Frank serve us. He's such an amazing and humble guy.

The food was also amazing and definitely the star of the show. We were served 15 courses, which were all delicious. Everything was great, but my favorite part was the nigiris. The fish were extremely fresh and melted in your mouth. Each had their own unique flavor. I've had many of these fish at other restaurants but for some reason, Chef Frank just did it right.

Overall, the whole experience was a 12/10! I will definitely recommend this place to everyone and I will be back.

Thanks so much Chef Frank and staff!! You all are amazing.

Chef Frank did not disappoint our first omakase experience. The outward appearance makes it easy to drive past without a second glance, but this place is more than meets the eye. Inside is a space that is both trendy and comfortable.

The seamlessness of the service made it feel like we had a dedicated chef and server, even though we watched the staff taking care of other guests. The transition from the last bite to getting the next dish was fluid and concise. The front-of-house worked like a well-oiled machine.

The chef managed to take simple, high quality ingredients to create intricate flavors naturally. The overall execution, however, could've been more polished. It was little missteps like finding bones in the warm fish dish and the abysmal desserts that prevented this experience from being perfect. Altogether though, these minor hiccups are low hanging fruit that can be easily fixed with a little more attention to detail. And the fact that you can even find such an experience in a small city like Sacramento makes this place notable.
