I feel extremely duped by this gym. I attended the complimentary personal training session conducted by Orpheus, which was 45 minutes long. I heard the sales pitch and decided to talk with my boyfriend and sleep on it. After talking with my boyfriend who has been working out 30+ years, we decided it was a good idea to get personal training because perhaps I could learn something that he can't teach me. Fast forward to today, four sessions in, where I have not learned a thing.

Orpheus told me training would be a group effort, yet passed me off within two sessions to a trainer that doesn't know the difference between a glute bridge and hip thrust, nor does he know how to do step ups to properly and engage the glutes instead of the quads.

There been no group effort, as promised, and I'm lucky if they spend 25 minutes with me (note I would've never signed a contract, knowing that the sessions for 30 minutes, because I thought they were 45 minutes).

Today I attempted to contact the gym in an effort to expressed by dissatisfaction only to learn that Orpheus is, in fact, the personal training manager, which made me feel more scammed. He locked me in for 4 sessions a month at $159, then was done with me.

I left a message to speak with Orpheus to talk to him about this situation, and have yet to receive a call back at 6 PM, even though they said he'd be in at 3 PM, because of course, now they have my money. This is not the first instance of Orpheus being unresponsive to me. Funny how he was extremely responsive before the contract was signed and now, nothing!!!

In essence, I feel extremely punked by this gym. I am not learning anything new, and I'm having to do my own workouts separately from the personal training session just to get a good workout in. The workouts I do with my boyfriend who is not a certified personal trainer are 1000x better than what they have provided to me. They took three sessions to "assess" me knowing I am not a novice.

At the end of this training contract, I will be canceling both the training contract and my membership. I sincerely regret joining this gym now and can see the reason for the prior negative reviews. The ethics here are extremely questionable and I don't deal with businesses like that.

Large gym with a good variety of cardio machines, resistance machines, and free weights. Adolphus was great during the personal training session and showed different kinds of exercises throughout the gym. He also was very knowledgeable about nutrition and talking about macronutrient intake goals.

Once again sitting outside the club at 529am waiting to enter the gym that is supposed to open at 5am. Spoke to manager about previous times this happened and he could not have cared less.

I like City Sports Club, the parent company of LA Fitness. This location is not busy and the gym smells fresh, and relaxing to work out in. I like their machines and haven't had any issue with maintenance. You won't be disappointed as this gym still feels new.

Some cons is that this gym is more expensive than some other options but are comparable to 24 hour fitness. I have also heard that they can be high pressured during sign up.

City Sports new to Elk Grove.

Joined in May with the pull for over 70's Water Aroebics classes. However as of September 16 still NO classes/ instructors. I feel like ive been taken, with joining fee of $199 and 45$ a month and NO water Aroebics Ive been scamed.

After my last review , I'm now searching for a new Gym... unfortunately this gym is gone down.... I have never felt more unwelcome since coming here, the only staff that are nice & humble & always smiling are Ricky, the trainer with the beard, & Catherine.... The rest of the staff & other trainers always have a sour face & never say hi to anyone... At least smile & pretend that you don't hate your job... I hope everyone takes this review & look into other gyms... This is not the one!!!

Lots of machines, activities and extremely clean. Open at convenient times and caters to all eyes.

Not the greatest gym ever!
I actually tried this gym for a few days and I definitely wouldn't recommend going here.
For starters, there's no pool, and no steam room. If I'm paying to get a work out, I want to be able to enjoy the full method of relaxation after my work out.
The air conditioner has been broken and leaking on the floor for quite some time. This is actually an osha violation.
Staff-do they not pay their staff to be there a few minutes after 9pm or something so that people have the two extra minutes to end their workout after closing if needed.. The last time I was in there, the staff was very adamant about getting you out at exactly closing time,
The toilets are always out of order/backed up and we have to go next door to Bella bru to use the restroom.
I don't have those issues at 24 hr fitness. They have a full steam room, a working sauna and a pool. The toilets are also functional. I'll definitely pay the extra money to go down the street for those luxury's.
