Cockney Kings Fish & Chips

They cook actual proper fish & chips, which is so hard to find in North America.

Skip the Dishes forgot half of the fish in our order tonight, so they cooked up extra and one of the staff drove it down himself. They were so nice about everything that I signed up for Yelp just to leave this review.

First I would say this place is small so sitting down will be hard, BUT... close by is the BEAUTIFUL Kitsilano Beach. The perfect backdrop to diving in the tastiest, moist, golden-fried fish. I enjoyed the COD and Halibut with fries. Delightful . Add to it was a side of poutine that I drizzled over the fries and my onion rings. Yummy to the tummy!

Yes expect to have oily hands after that delish mess but then again life ain't all that bad. Mmmmm as I sit and reminisce and write.

Yes, the fries are a lot so have it with others to share. Spread the love.

Thank you Cockey for a delish meal. As highly rated as Santa Barbara fish market. That's another top spot for all the right reasons.

The coleslaw is a must! I went for the small but totally regretted not ordering the larger size.

I'm just going to speak to the food since I had this delivered to our Airbnb. Really, really super delicious fresh fish and chicken (for the chicken). We had salmon and cod in the party and it was simply a great meal. Big pieces of fish. Great batter.

We got the two piece cod & chips and a large coleslaw. They graciously separated it into two portions for us to split. The coleslaw is very good and I'm picky about it. The fish tasted fresh and not soggy. Would recommend!!

Very happy to welcome Cockney Kings Fish & Chips' third location to Cornwall Avenue in Kitsilano. There is no British-style chippy within mies of here, so Cockney Kings fills a long-vacant gap in Kits' foodie options.

And fills it well, as the fish and chips for which Cockney Kings is well known are just as perfect here. Went today and there was a line at the door eagerly awaiting the noon opening. Order at the counter for dine-in (12 seats available) or take-out. Kitsilano's gorgeous park and beach is just west on Cornwall so easy to find somewhere to have lunch and watch the seaside activity.

My order today was one piece halibut and chips ($16), although i considered the haddock, which is about $3 cheaper. Condiments and sides that used to be included in any F&C order, like tartar sauce and coleslaw, are now an additional cost, which seems a little cheap, considering what you're paying for a plate of chips and one piece of fish. Not even a little slice of lemon!

But I'm not going to quibble with F&C this good! I suppose a lot of coleslaw and tartar sauce is wasted if included and the diner doesn't eat it, so maybe it's best to charge and only those who really want it will order it. Of course they offer mushy peas, gravy and curry sauce as well.

Lots of other items on the menu, such as burgers, tacos, salads, onion rings and let's not forget poutine.

So happy to have gorgeous British-style fish and chips in the neighbourhood again. Light, crsip batter, not soggy or greasy, and perfect hand-cut chips and a plentiful portion. Quick, friendly service in a clean, nicely decorated location, and I hope it will be with us for many successful years.

I always have had the Haddock & Chips. Just had fish tacos for a change. May be the best I've ever had.

Not bad they have had nuy 1 get one free fir a while now which is awesome. You have to pay extra for their tartar sauce which is weird but solid fish and chips can't complain.

Great service, fresh and large portions, but limited seating. Recommend the take out.
