I don't think my awful experience is the fault of the folks at this location. We needed to rent a hedge trimmer so a neighbor could clear some hazardous weeds outside our back fence, and he only had time on Sunday. The trimmer i rented was excellent, they provided 2 charged batteries, they let me rent before closing on Saturday for a one-day rental, as long as the tool was returned before 8 AM Monday. They helped load the tool. So why the 2-star review?
I'm an old lady. My husband and I got a nasty cold on the weekend, but I was determined to return the trimmer by 8 AM in spite of a 20+ mile drive in commute traffic, because they were so nice. I left home at 6:45 and arrived about an hour later.
By that time I was worse-than-desperate for a restroom. They told me firmly that it was 'against their policy' to let me use theirs.
It's not easy to find a bathroom in Lafayette, and I'm not familiar with the local businesses. I'm embarrassed to admit that by the time I did, it was too late. I just want to let prospective customers know so it doesn't happen to somebody else.
But I'm no saint, so I'll make a small exception. If justice demands that somebody has to find out the hard way how I feel right now, I hope it's somebody who makes (or enforces) a policy like that! Just sayin'Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mike J.San Francisco, CA011Dec 6, 2023
This company charges a $1,000 damage deposit for lager equipment. The piece of equipment was left on job site for 2 1/2 days after being called off when it was located 2 blocks away. Someone, not from our company, used the equipment while is was called off and managed to put a slight bend in a railing. The bend could easily be returned to its original condition with 10 minutes effort. They charged me $645 to replace the part, and I'm sure they just bent the part back into place as advised. BEWARE!!!

As I got out of the car to go in to rent a power tool, a couple guys greeted me, asking what I was going to rent so that they could go gert it and have it at the car by the time I got finished with the paperwork.
Once home, I thought a part was missing, and ran back. Turns out that it was my bad - It wasn't missing, but they didn't make me feel like a dummy. Instead, they reset the clock for me so that I still had the full rental time to do my project.

Beware when renting the CAT 301 excavator. Worked great the first 3 hours and then started getting jerky. Online forums suggest it may be some air in the hydraulics. Returned to Cresco and all of their yard team (all very knowledgeable and helpful) and the manager recreated the jerky movements with the boom. Manager tried to gaslight me saying the jerky motion was normal operation once it got warmed up, that there was nothing wrong, and I didn't need to run it a full throttle, (which was the recommendation of the forums so as to have more power to feather the controls). By the time I returned it and spent another hour in their parking lot, I was 6 hours into the 2 day rental , the manager charged me for a full day, no apologies or discounts. Disappointing tool performance and customer service.

Just rented a concrete cutting gas-powered cut-off saw for 90 bucks or so per day and an electric jackhammer for 120 per day. Didn't come with a blade for the saw, nor bits for the jackhammer. Rental of both cost extra. Yes, the place is a bit spendy, especially as I can buy a used saw for 600 bucks on Craigslist. However, these guys are in Lafayette and the manager Paul is amazing. Usually you rent a tool because you're a bit desperate. I called 15 min before closing and needed my tools ASAP. Unfortunately I was stuck in 24's typical unforgiving tunnel traffic. Paul stayed 15 min past closing so I could get my stuff. Their business card says that they offer gold star service and they indeed do.

People here are always very helpful and easy to deal with. Their equipment, in my experience, has always been in great shape and ready to use.

The customer service at this place is fantastic. I don't know the gentleman's name the young man with the bald head is spectacular. I look forward to coming in and talking to that young man I always happy always upbeat always positive.

Mower broke down yesterday and needed to clear my back field...Cresco to the rescue. Got into the store about 8:30 on a Saturday morning and was helped by a really helpful and efficient sales man at the counter named Alex.
He was fast, friendly, and efficient. Started the mower, helped me adjust the height and move the selector from mow over to mulch. He made sure I had fuel and he helped me load it in my truck.
The mower did the job and 7 hours later when I dropped it off, Alex made sure the mower did it's job and was genuinely interested in my experience.

Attitude on a Monday morning !!!
Someone got up on the wrong side takes it out on the costumer...
I picked up a jack hammer that was defective, waisted 3 hours and an unnecessary trip to exchange it. After they checked it and saw it's not working I Asked for another one which they didn't have, only a smaller size hammer... they refused to discount it or do anything for me even though I have people getting paid to wait for a replacement.. on top of that Paul is being rude about it. Telling me:
"I understand yore a very important person"
My employees time cost me money, it's very simple.
This is the last time I'll work with theses guys ! Anyway they are generally more expensive then all the other rentals.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
