My very last meal on the way out of San Francisco was actually one of the best of my entire trip, and in keeping with my mission to eat as much Asian cuisine as possible while in the Bay Area, it was a fitting end to a delicious visit. Curry Hyuga was a last minute dinner stop because I didn't really want to eat in the airport before my red-eye flight, but I'm glad I found them.

Inside, the place is simple. A little bit of retro-americana decor and lots of wood. I was seated right away and given a menu, and put in for an order of Yuzu lemonade, not something you see often in North Carolina. The lemonade was cold and crisp, with a wonderful citrus zest and balance of sweetness. A highly enjoyable complement to my savory meal.

For dinner, I ordered what appears to be their speciality, the chicken karaage curry. This type of Japanese curry is also a rarity where I'm from, though you can find several example of Japanese fried chicken... because the south loves fried chicken, and we'll take it however someone wants to fry it. This came with rice, potato salad, some greenery, and of course the brown curry gravy. This gravy SENT ME. What a flavor! I loved mixing up the perfect bite of crispy chicken and rice, rolling it in the sauce, and then chasing it with some cool lemonade. I wish this style of cooking were more prevalent in my area of the world.

I would not hesitate to have another meal at Curry Hyuga next time I'm in the area!

Went here on a weeknight. It was pretty busy, but there was no wait for party of 3. The staff are really friendly.

I got the Chicken Katsu Curry. It was a decent portion size. The chicken cutlet was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and laid on a bed of perfectly cooked rice and raw, shredded cabbage. The curry sauce is also super flavorful. There are various chili powders on the table that you can add to your curry if you want to spice it up.

We arrived on a Saturday night around 7:30 and even though the place was packed with people at every table and people coming in to pick up take out, we were seated within 5 minutes.

We ordered their corn potage (a light corn soup) to try, delicious. Hubby ordered chicken katsu. I ordered chicken karaage with curry sauce on the side, which was perfect for me. The chicken karaage was crispy, steamy hot, and juicy.

The crowd is lively, so the restaurant is a little bit loud but we can still converse. The servers are also nice and super fast about seating people and refilling water. Overall, very good. We will be back.

I was a little nervous walking into Curry Hyuga, simply from its appearance (it's a small, low-key space with a modest interior). However, I was very impressed by the food.

The corn potage soup that I saw being posted all over this Yelp page is delicious. Great for corn lovers like me. And their signature curry is rich and flavorful. Pairs really well with their crispy tonkatsu, as well as the potato salad and pickled veggies that come with it.

My boyfriend and I came on around 2pm on a Sunday. Even thought it was way past lunch time, there were still people coming into the restaurant. Our servers were friendly and explained how the call button worked on each table, it was nice to have but I'm not sure if it works because we pressed the button for more water but eventually just ended up flagging down a server. We got the chicken karaage as an appetizer which was juicy with a light batter. My boyfriend got the signature with the pork cutlet loin, which was so tender. I got the Kakuni curry which was so tender as well. The curry for both dishes was flavorful and hearty.
The restaurant is small but had plenty of two tops and four tops.

One of my friends recommended Curry Hyuga for dinner after game of golf on the weekend. It was my first time here and it was definitely worth a trip. We were lucky to get seating pretty quickly and our server for our table quickly served us.

We each got a Signature Katsu Curry and split the Corn Potage. For me, I added a lot of spice to my side, especially the higher levels, and afterwards was positively full and nearly steaming from the spice. The katsu itself was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and mixing it with the Japanese currency made for an absolutely happy meal. The corn potage was delicious, and I think is worth always getting everyone one eats here.

After eating here, Curry Hyuga is definitely on my recommendations list for curry in the Bay Area!

Signature Pork Katsu Curry + egg dome 4.5/5
      Corn Potage Soup 4/5
      Karrage Chicken 5/5

Taste, 4/5 - The star is definitely the karrage chicken and the katsu!! The curry sauce flavor wasn't as strong imo but other than that, the dish itself was great! HUGE portions and I was full after sharing my dish.

Service, 5/5 - Fast service!! The server recommended the egg dome and my friends and I loved it!

Overall (9.5/10) - The place is pretty small inside so I recommend coming early or making reservations! I came off peak hours waited about 30-45 minutes. They also do to-go orders as well if you don't want to wait for a table.

First time trying the Burlingame location of Curry Hyuga! They honestly have one of the best Japanese curries in the bay. I've been to their Cupertino location a few times, but have heard great things ever since they were only located in Burlingame!

Everyone comes for the curry obv, but don't sleep on the corn potage soup! The soup honestly my favorite thing ever and I looove how rich and creamy it tastes.I prefer the chicken katsu over the pork katsu, but the chicken karaage is also a pretty solid option too!

Service was friendly, our server was super attentive and kind. At this location, there isn't a ton of seating available and the restaurant is just a bit tight in general.

The curry is always good and the place was bustling for dinner on a Friday. Maybe it was due to the business(?) but the server just threw the menu on the table for us which I did not really appreciate.

I've been to other Curry Hyuga locations, so the taste is the same!!
