I think they were closed recently but someone finally answered when I called today and said they were open now. I haven't had a chance to actually drive down yet though

If there's one thing that's lacking in the Sacramento food scene, it's Chinese skewers, but Da Fei Ge is here to save the day!

I enjoyed all the skewers we got, but potato and beef were my favorites. The potatoes were crispy and soft! Beef was juicy and smokey. I'm personally not a fan of lamb, but my parents and boyfriend enjoyed the lamb skewers.

Their clay pot rice was decent as well! Pretty fairly priced and filling. I love the crispy rice on the bottom! They also served Chinese herbal tea for free, so that was a plus! This place definitely satisfied my Chinese skewer craving!

I've come here multiple times with different people.
They have good service, and are very helpful with menu if you have questions.

I've tried multiple of the skewers and clay pots, and have really enjoyed the ones I've tried so far.

I also really like both the spicy and the salt and pepper fried chicken.

They also have drinks more commonly found in China (note they are all bottled drinks), which is a nice nostalgic note.

The ambiance brings you back to eating in China, with wooden tables and pull out benches.

Small - kinda late night eats joint

Interesting random menu with appetizers, skewers, soups and clay pots.

Highlights were the abalone, scallops, & claypot. All very tasty.

The soup was very earthy..so beware. Not bad, but not for everyone's pallet.

Spicy Fried Tofu was a little oily.

Worth a try if you're in the area.

Been here twice now and Da Fei Ge gets 5 stars from me.

On our most recent visit, we got a bunch of skewers, a clay pot rice, garlic vegetable, and a steamed milk dessert.

All of the skewers were delicious. They had great flavor, the meat was fresh, and they were grilled with a nice smoky flavor. For skewers, you can pick across 3 options of sauce, spicy, or not spicy. Highly recommend the chicken skin skewers, the squid skewers, and the gizzard skewers.

We also got 2 grilled abalone for $6 (which is insane), and they came loaded with garlic. They weren't overcooked or chewy at all, which is super hard to do.

The clay pot rice was also great. Great flavor, lots of crispy rice, and generous topping. Da Fei Ge makes clay pot rice the authentic way, which is to cook the rice in the clay pot. Many other spots will use cooked rice to save time, which impacts the texture of the rice. On top of this, the clay pot was $9.99, which again is an insanely low price (other places charge easily $17+).

The vegetables were also yummy and generously portioned. The steamed milk dessert was massive (easily 2x the size you get at specialty dessert shops) and had awesome texture - really jiggly and bouncy while being perfectly steamed.

Will absolutely come again next time we're in the area.

3.5/5 - I was pretty excited to try this place given all the great reviews! Came in around 12:40 pm and was immediately greeted and sat down. I was eyeing everything on the menu - the soup, the clay pots, the skewers, but ultimately ordered two clay pots: the ribs clay pot and the salted fish & pork clay pot.

My experience was pretty accurately reflected from other reviews - the meat and fish were flavored extraordinarily well, but I felt like I was paying for the rice because of how little substance there actually was in the clay pots. Maybe three spoonful maximum of ribs (also lots of bones) and fish/pork.

My recommendation would be to order one clay pot and a couple of skewers, with a vegetable dish, to make it a well rounded meal!

I've been seeing this place on my IG feed and wanted to check it out. We were actually trying to dine at Binchoyaki at first but the wait was 2 hours...so we came here instead. The restaurant is pretty small and they were busy. Luckily there was an empty table and we got seated right away.

We ordered Beef, Squid, and Chicken Skin skewers and ordered it spicy. We also ordered cucumber salad, preserved meat w egg & Chinese sausages clay pot, and the salted fish w pork clay pot.

The cucumber salad was nice and refreshing.
The clay pots reminded me of my dad's home cooked meals. Those were definitely familiar comfort dishes to me. The skewers were pretty good.

They have complimentary herbal tea that you can help yourself with. We would def come back.

This small restaurant is tucked away in a small shopping strip of businesses but packs a LOT of flavor in all of their dishes! I came here with my family and they were able to accommodate our group of 8 with a call ahead for a reservation.

We ordered a wide variety of things from the menu - skewers, clay pots, spicy chicken wings and tofu, and veggies - and all of them were so good. My personal favorites were the veggie dishes and the "preserved meat" clay pot, which is a combo of Chinese sausage and cured pork belly.

It's the perfect kind of comforting and homey food that I crave in the winter. There are also a couple of drink dispensers for customers to help themselves to complimentary house teas. I'll be returning again soon!

Yesterday, we went there that I had never heard of it. I tried different barbecue like eggplant, oysters, and skewers. We ordered the cucumber salad which is healthy and I tried the corn, the sausage, and the fried buns. Crispy fried tofu is deep fried and kind of spicy and we ordered the clay pots Da Fei Ge Restaurant is a Chinese Cuisine which is kind of like flying in the plane.

We went here for Sunday lunch because we craved for a clay pot rice. This small restaurant is at the corner of a food complex with other businesses. As soon we sat down, the lady asked which clay pot we wanted since it took quite a while to cook it. So, we immediately ordered 2 of them. It took us about 20 mins for our food but we already expected it.

      - ribs with black bean sauce clay pot: it was good. There were lots of ribs pieces but it could have more black bean sauce as it was a bit bland.
      - eel clay pot: my favorite! The eels had sweet taste and were well cooked (not chewy).
Overall, the clay pot rice was good but we wish that there were more crispy rice at the bottom. They gave extra soy sauce to pour on top of the rice but I wish that they gave more of it.

The complimentary tea was good too. The one on the right had a slight sweetness while the one on the left was very herbal.

      Updated review

My recent visit to this Chinese gem left me thoroughly impressed. The star of the show was undoubtedly their Sausage Claypot Rice - a flavorful masterpiece that combined the savory richness of sausage with perfectly cooked rice, creating a symphony of tastes.

The dish arrived at the table sizzling in the claypot, emitting irresistible aromas that set the stage for a culinary delight. The sausages were expertly cooked, providing a delightful contrast to the tender rice beneath. Each bite was a burst of flavor, with the claypot imparting a unique, slightly crispy texture to the rice at the bottom.

What sets this restaurant apart is its dedication to the art of claypot cooking. Their menu showcases a variety of claypot rice dishes, each prepared with precision and attention to detail. The ambiance adds to the experience, creating a cozy atmosphere that enhances the enjoyment of the meal.

The excellent culinary experience at this Chinese restaurant is complemented by their outstanding service. The staff's attentiveness and friendly demeanor added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. From recommendations to prompt service, they ensured a seamless dining experience. The combination of delectable dishes and top-notch service makes this restaurant a standout choice for anyone seeking a memorable taste of authentic Chinese cuisine.

For those who appreciate the craftsmanship of authentic Chinese cuisine, especially the magic that happens in a claypot, this restaurant is a must-visit. The Sausage Claypot Rice alone is worth the trip, and I look forward to exploring more of their culinary offerings in the future.
