Bougie!! Out of this world Italian food. Perfect for a date night! We enjoyed their roasted salmon with brocoliini & almond vinaigrette & their dry aged rib eye with black truffle. Excellent is an understatement. Loved the panna cotta di riso nero.

Perfect for fine dining, exceptional customer service, romantic ambience & great food. Expensive but worth it.

Will definitely come back for more.

Del Posto is a big, dark space right off the West Side Highway and 16th Street that looks and feels a bit like a private club. It's a little too fancy to be described as "cool," but it's also not stiff or uptight. The restaurant is set over two floors with a dramatic, fairly steep staircase, and if you sit upstairs and drink a bunch of wine, be careful when walking down.

There are two ways to go about dinner here. First, there's a $149 four-course prix fixe option where you get to pick your appetizer, two pastas for the table, an entree, and dessert. Second, there's a full-on eight-course chef's tasting menu for $179, of which there's also a vegan version. Whichever way you go, you'll eat fantastic high-end Italian food, so the choice really depends on how much of a control freak you are. Based on what we established above, you're probably a pretty big control freak, but we'd say as long as you're not picky, leaving it in the kitchen's hands can make for a memorable evening. If you're willing to cut the evening part out, a meal at Del Posto can be had for a third of the price at lunch, when there's a $49 three-course option, with an additional (and recommended) $10 pasta supplement.

Del Posto is not the place to come if you're looking for a fine dining experience that involves wacky foams and gels and molecular gastronomy elements. It is the place to come if you like the idea of eating great pasta and a perfect piece of fish or veal, and you'd like to be treated like you're at a five-star European hotel as you do it. New York is always going to be full of too many good choices (and probably even more bad ones), but as long as you enjoy excellent Italian food and outstanding service that makes you feel special, you'll walk out of Del Posto pleased.

What a wonderful experience!!! We were seated at the table on the first floor but the whole restaurant was filled with the live classical music on the piano. There are only pre fixed menus being served at the table and you can pick between a 5 course or an 8 course dinner. We chose the 5 course which is priced at 179 pp. Wine pairing is 115 more pp. This place really lives up to the star. The service is a little slow but overall very attentive and professional. The ambiance is very classy and romantic. It's perfect for a celebration or a date.

For the appetizers, we had the carne cruda and the shrimp cruda. Both were very delicious but I liked the beef cruda more. They were served with whipped cheese/cream with a small baguette.

For the pastas, we had the linguine allá vongole and the rabbit pasta!!! It was the first time I had rabbit and it was surprisingly good! (Sorry bunnies). The linguine was also cooked to perfect al dente but it was a little salty. Both were delicious tho!

For the main courses, we had the chicken and the wagyu steak. THEY WERE BOTH THE BEST DISHES!!!!! Omg the wagyu beef steak was so juicy and tender! The chicken was stuffed with truffle and had foie Gras sauce poured over.

The desserts were sooooo good as well. It was the best panna cotta I've ever had in nyc! The chocolate cake was just ok. The birthday madeleines were also very good. I was very happy and full at the end of our meal.

Definitely one of the best experiences in NYC! MUST COME HERE for both food and ambiance!! Soooooooo amazing!!!

We wanted a special, Michelin star dining experience for our 20th wedding anniversary in NYC. I knew Del Posto would fit the bill. The decor and ambiance at Del Posto is pure class and old-world elegance. The beautiful staircase and piano are tastefully juxtaposed against a color mix of deep brown/cream and rich leather seating.
When it comes to service, no detail is spared. They are on top of their game and it is almost flawless. Water glasses are consistently refilled and new, specific glassware is always waiting for the next wine pairing. If you get up to go to the bathroom or return, there is someone there to assist you with the table. Their dinnerware and glassware is impressive, especially some of the customized pieces.

We chose the five-course prix fix menu with wine pairing. The wine pairing was perfect. I did wish the sommelier would have spoken a little louder as I missed a few details on the wines we were drinking.
Our first dish was a teaser (amuse bouche)- a soup served in a very dainty teacup with a mini skewer of melon/prosciutto on top. The bread is baked fresh and is absolutely delicious. It's a bagatini served on a special plate with an amazing cream/butter. It's whipped with Creme fraiche and finished with Italian olive oil. Had to control myself.

Every dish was special and delicious in its own unique way. However, I do have to highlight the delectable richness of the pasta with the Toma cheese & black truffle butter. The cheese oozed out with every bite and was enriched by the truffle butter. The taste and presentation will remain embedded in my memory food bank for years to come.

In addition to dessert, they served chocolates, marshmallows and tiny cookies on a unique cheese grater with a mini drawer- very charming. They also sent out zeppoles with "happy anniversary" on the plate. All the nice touches you would expect at this level.

Del Posto met and exceeded our expectations. Sufficient to say, we left happy and fulfilled. The fine dining world is a better place with Del Posto in it.

      What a classy dinner!
I dined with two friends at Del Posto last week and it was a great evening.

The restaurant itself is really big and lovely. Dimly lit, it made me feel like I was in a movie. Nearby diners were obviously corporate groups, talking loudly or mergers and lawsuits.

Upon arrival, I checked my coat at the entry, and was seated with my friends who had arrived before me.

We were given wine and cocktail menus. We wanted a bottle of wine so the sommelier came to assist. He opened the book and started discussing some wine in the $500-600 price range. I'm sure many diners who eat here have an expense account, but this wasn't the case for us. I told him we aren't looking to spend that at all. He graciously moved to a page with bottles under $100, and made us feel like we still picked an amazing bottle.

The way the wine was presented and served was an art form into itself. Seasoning glasses by swirling the wine in one then pouring it into the other then pouring a tiny bit into a smaller glass, which I assume was for his own taste to ensure its quality.

We opted for the 5-course tasting. We were first given a small butternut squash and minestrone amuse bouche (assuming they don't call it that at an Italian restaurant, but it was a little starter palate cleanser). We were then each served with our own plate of mini baguette and a ball of ricotta and butter/cream combo. It looked like Burrata but tasted like ricotta and butter combined. Delicious.

One by one the courses came out, the wine glasses were filled before we even knew we needed more. Crumbs were discreetly cleaned from the table.

Each dish was tasty and well though out and delicious.

Del Posto is insane. Doesn't really require a lengthy review of any sort. Just a few takeaways:

It's literally like a 10-star hotel in there so that pretty much sets the mood for the whole evening. Definitely make sure your pockets aren't empty.

The staff is amazing and so many actual Italians which is epic. Damiano was our waiter who was awesome. Tania who was a hostess was also dope, and Joe the sommelier too.

We did the 8 course. The Vitello tonato was outrageous. The pasta w broccoli rabe was great. The tuna was great. The gluten free BREAD - wow. Actual wow...and the butter too :(.

      The espresso martini is amazing.

The glassware and silverware is priceless.

Amazing experience that calls for very, very special occasions. Prego

If you are looking for a fine dining Italian restaurant for a special occasion, look no further. This refined gem will make your occasion extra special. Fiancé made a reservation for my birthday and I must this I loved this place. We ordered from the pre-fixe menu with wine pairing. The service and food was superb. Get ready to be in pasta heaven.

Although the decor and ambiance was elegant and classy, food didn't make up for it. I've never been so disappointed with food that was so uninspiring at a Michelin star restaurant. My boyfriend and I came for lunch and opted for their Prix Fixe ($69/person) which gives you a choice of antipasto, secondo and dolce. You can also order an additional pasta for $15/person which we did.

      Here is what I ordered:

      ANTIPASTI
-Trio di SALMERINO con Radice di Prezzemolo
Artic char crudo, confit and tartare with parsley root and parsley

PRIMI (must order same pasta dish for the table)
      -LASAGNE all'Amatriciana
Baked pasta layers with guanciale, tomato, and peperoncino

      SECONDI
      -Peposo dell'IMPRUNETA~$20 supp
Red wine wagyu beef short rib with anson mills polenta and spinach

      DOLCI
      -PANNA COTTA di Riso Nero
Forbidden rice and vanilla bean custard with black sesame and concord sorbetto

I usually eat food that are on the saltier side but EVERYTHING was too salty. The shared lasagne was salty and my wagyu beef short rib dish was way too salty. My boyfriend got the chicken entree and this was way too underwhelming; it lacked flavor and was slightly undercooked. It also had an unusual smell so he couldn't finish it. We also saw the table next to us return their chicken entree--probably for the same reasons.

Our waitress recommended Lavender Spritz drink and this was simply a waste of $11. I only drank a sip and left it alone throughout the meal.

Spent close to $300 for overpriced food that lacked flavor, overly salty, and was overall disappointing. The only 'ok' thing was the bread and cheese butter that they serve in the beginning. It pains me to write such review since I've only had good experiences at Michelin star restaurant, but I won't be returning to Del Posto.

Absolutely fantastic! Giving this place five stars almost seems to be not enough praise for the excellent food and service I was treated to here.

My friends and I decided to come here based on the recommendation of a foodie friend at work. He told us that this was one of his favorite restaurants in the city and it is easy to understand why.

Upon entering Del Posto, we were treated to a flashback to a scene that would not be out of place in the grand dining areas of old, rich dark wood interiors paneled the entryway which was covered in a lustrous white marble. After telling the receptionist, we were promptly taken to a table in a quiet corner.of the restaurant. There we were each helped to our seats and presented with menus with the prix fixe menus of the day.

I ordered for my three course prix fixe the Vitello Tonnato (thinly sliced veal with a lemon basil and vinaigrette sauce), the Orechiette (a pasta with an olive oil and rabbit ragu sauce), and, finally, the lemon verbena panna cotta (a lemon custard). Each and every dish was amazing. The Vitello Tonnato was light and the sauce gave the dish a nice tartness to contrast with the veal slices. The Orechiette's rabbit ragu and olive oil sauce gave the dish a lovely richness that made me want to eat more. Finally, the panna cotta worked well to cleanse my pallet.

In addition to what I ordered from the prix fixe menu, we were served with fresh mini baguettes and cookies and pastries at the end of our meal.

      Simply a bravura dining performance.
