Den Defenders Chimney & Fireplace Service

Anthony and Richard were able to come out and quickly diagnosis and repair our gas fireplace. We had previous companies come out before reaching out to Den Defenders who were unable to solve the issue. Anthony was extremely knowledgeably and knew almost instantly what the issue was. I would definitely recommend using them!!

We were very impressed with service, quality and professionalism the first time we called Den Defenders for chimney work at our previous home...which is why we are a repeat customer for chimney work again!...does anything speak louder than this? Anthony was extremely knowledgable, professional and had explained everything-Five stars, easily earned!

We have had our screen door for over a year now. We love the door. It's beautiful and being able to unlock from the keypad makes it extremely convenient. The reason I did the 3 stars is we have experienced a couple of issues.

1. The caps covering the holes In the door (as seen in the picture) has come out multiple times. A couple of them I couldn't find so I reached out to the company. I left multiple voicemails with no call back. I messaged them on IG and got a quick response saying dispatch would contact me after 24-48 hours. I reached out after 2 weeks because I never got a call from dispatch. Finally I begged them to just mail me replacements instead of waiting for dispatch and they were able to do so.

2. The digital keypad that locks/unlocks the door dies frequently and I have been locked out multiple times (usually while walking my dogs so I didn't have the physical key). Once again,I left multiple voicemails (this time over a couple of months) and finally received a response on IG. The person helping me was very nice, but in the end told me the price to come out to assist me to fix the door that clearly shouldn't be going dead as frequently as it does. For as expensive the doors are, you think they would have a better warranty to help with things like I'm having issues with. I cancelled the appt as I was able to get a new lock and install it on my own for much cheaper.

I would give them a 5/5 (even with the pricing of the door and wait time for installation) if it wasn't for these experiences. They definitely need a longer or better warranty.

This is the 2nd time we've used this company, and we'd recommend them! The first time several years ago to install our Viewguard security doors (see my previous review on that- but they still look just as good as Day 1!), and now to clean/inspect our chimney and update our unused wood-burning fireplace to an electric insert!

Our fireplace went from drab to fab with quick customer service, on-time arrivals, easy financing options, and kind and communicative professionals who cleaned up the workspace before they left.

One Tech, Joseph, did our initial inspection and was able to tell me his findings and recommendations. His written report and proposed work/estimates were promptly emailed for our review. Once we accepted the option we felt the most comfortable with, we were able to book the work only a few weeks out! And there were 2 easy financing options: we chose the credit line of 12 months with no interest.

Two Techs, Adam & Bradley, came out to complete the needed waterproofing, electrical work, and installation of the new electric insert fireplace. We are happy knowing our chimney is up to code and protected from getting water in the house, and loving our modern, updated fireplace! Its flames are orange & blue, and you can change how intense they are and how much of each color you want. The embers can change color, or rotate through the rainbow of them. You can just have the look of it or have it blow out heat at a few different speeds.

If you're considering having home improvements completed, I'd recommend Den Defenders!

I've been looking forward to having a Viewguard Screen Door installed for a couple of years now. This year was the year to finally do it! After browsing on Yelp for a reliable vendor who provided this type of service we got a couple of quotes and ultimately went with Den Defenders.

Eli was the sales rep who came out for our free consultation. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. After going over options and confidently answering any questions/concerns I had he never gave off the vibe to be a pushy salesman. Purely let the product speak for itself.

Two months later we finally booked our appointment and had our door installed within a couple of weeks after being quoted 12 weeks out. I was very excited!! Jason was our tech who showed up within his 4 hour time frame, closer to the beginning of that time frame thank goodness! 2.5 hours later we had our beautiful Viewguard installed. Jason was just as knowledgeable, professional, and friendly and made sure to leave his work area spotless when finished. No type of debris or trash left behind.

Realistically my rating is 4.5 stars. Dinging a half star due to the hoops I had to jump through just to get my appointment and payment taken by their distribution team. I was promised callbacks then when given the call I asked if I could return the call as I was occupied. The rep's tone sounded a little annoyed. When I called no answer so I left a voicemail. All week no returned call.

The one person who saved this review from being 3 stars was Eli. I reached out to him, shared my frustration and concerns, then everything from there fell into place. Thank you Eli for being super helpful and kind! Jason, you did a fantastic job on our door. We continuously keep receiving compliments!

Great company. Joseph is an awesome tech and very knowledgable. I got all the information I needed plus and would definitely recommend this company.

My elderly grandmother contacted Den Defenders Chimney & Fireplace Service to see about adding a blower to her gas fireplace. Instead, Anthony, the technician, identified a supposed issue with the chimney chase cover, emphasizing the need for a replacement to prevent potential damage in the future. While the pictures provided were unclear, he persuaded my grandmother to invest over $1,500 for this repair.
To add insult to injury, Anthony upsold an unnecessary upgrade combo cover for an additional $1,700+, bringing the total to $3,264. Given the dry climate of the property, this extravagant upgrade seemed unjustifiable. I attempted to address my concerns with the manager, Mark, but he refused to acknowledge any responsibility.
Considering my background in real estate and experience with suggested repairs, this situation appears excessive and egregious. Even if a chase cover replacement was warranted, the exorbitant additional housing cover seemed like an exploitative tactic. My 93-year-old grandmother, vulnerable and trusting, appears to have been taken advantage of in this situation. I believe a more reasonable approach, such as caulking and sealing, could have sufficed, especially considering the well-maintained nature of her property in the Suncity Roseville development.
In essence, the recommended upgrades resemble suggesting brain surgery for a problem that could have been addressed with a simple band-aid. Despite my attempts to communicate, the management at Den Defenders Chimney & Fireplace Service refused to acknowledge the excessive nature of their services. The unnecessary costs and lack of accountability have left a bitter taste in our experience with this company.

Joseph spent the day inspecting and cleaning three chimneys for me. He did a wonderful job. He explained everything that needed repair, as well, as provided recommendations on how to best keep my chimneys in great condition.

Anthony and Jake were great. Very responsive to the appt window. Anthony was very knowledgeable and gave several options available after the inspection was completed.

A bit pricey, but good work, good service and arrived on time. Built 1 brand new screen and repaired the other on site, and it all took about an hour. I'll be back to repair my screen door. I understand that in-office pricing is much cheaper than having them come out to your home.

Remember you are paying for time and labor more than materials. Get it done right and you'll be happy with these folks.
