Nothing but 5 stars for Devil's Elbow in Vancouver! The beer selection is phenomenal, offering a wide range of craft brews that cater to every taste. But what really stood out was the bacon and bourbon shot--such a unique and delightful combination. And don't even get me started on the poutine! Perfectly crisp fries smothered in rich gravy and cheese curds, it's the ultimate comfort food, especially during happy hour. A must when coming to Canada eh.
The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind. The staff is mad friendly and knowledgeable about their offerings. I can't wait to return the next time I'm in Vancouver!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 21, 2024
We came in for lunch for fathers day weekend. The ambiance of the place is great. Lots of TVs to watch games. However, the servers were not very attentive and we ordered the BBQ platter for 4 (for 2 elderly who do not eat very much and 2 women) and it was just enough.
Food wise, we liked the pulled pork, the brisket and the tots. But the ribs and wings were dry, and the corn bread was a bit burned, soggy and crazy dense. Definitely do not order the corn bread to save yourself the disappointment.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - BB G.Vancouver, Canada215158May 25, 2024
Excellent service.
Cold beer with great local selection
Outstanding bbq. Beef brisket was my personal fav. The Mac and cheese corn bread was also a delicious surprise! Friend had a burger and it looked really good as well.
Good music playing and clean bathrooms. Fun hang out spot. Will be back for sure!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 18, 2024
This used to be a whiskey bar so I was a bit disappointed it no longer is. We tried their beer flight. Large selection to choose from. Waitress was a bit abrupt but it was late and maybe a long day. The vibe was ok. Not sure if I'd go back there again on purpose.

After attending the BC Lions game, we decided to stop by this place. The ambiance was relaxed and inviting, which we appreciated. However, the experience took a turn when our server seemed indifferent and somewhat rude. Despite this, our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered wings and Mac N cheese, but when our food arrived, we noticed bacon in the Mac N cheese. When we asked the server about it, she casually said, "No, I don't think so." After double-checking, we confirmed there was indeed bacon in it. Overall, while the ambiance was pleasant, the service and food left much to be desired.

We visited this spot while traveling from out of town and felt right at home here. I got the quesadilla with chicken and would definitely recommend it; it even re-heats really well after taking some leftovers home.

A nice local watering hole with pretty good smoked meat.
Smoked meat platters are tasty and have sizeable portions. The Brussels sprouts, mac and cheese and cornbread are pretty good sides. The fried chicken sandwich is also pretty good, although somehow it was better pre-pandemic. Not sure if the recipe was changed? In general the Devils Elbow has suffered from the same issues that a lot of places have since the pandemic - smaller portions and higher prices. Still a solid choice though with decent food. Pretty good beer selection. Cocktails are okay.
Service is friendly, ambiance is a casual bar/pub vibe without being divey.
I'd pop in from time to time for a drink or bite in the area. The smoked meat may even be worth going out of your way when the mood strikes.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael M.Burbank, CA43217Sep 12, 2023
This is a pub that also specializes in BBQ.
I had to try the poutine since I hadn't had a chance yet during this trip.
Wow, the poutine was good! I had smoked brisket added to mine. (This is a BBQ joint after all) The fries were cooked perfectly... plenty of crunch to stand up to the gravy. The bacon and brisket were a great addition. I'm no poutine expert, but this one was great.
We also ordered the smoked chicken wings. They had a very nice deep smoke flavor that complemented the house made buffalo sauce we chose. There are other interesting sauce choices available for the wings, including an intriguing dry rub.
Tried a locally brewed dark ale... Hoyne Dark Matter. That, too, was fantastic. There was a wide variety of beers and ubiquitous IPAs available. If you like a dark ale or porter or even a stout, try that Hoyne.
The bar tender was very friendly as well. All around, a great experience... I wish this place was in Los Angeles so I could go again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Myles M.Burnaby, CanadaAug 3, 2024
If you're downtown and wanting barbeque, it'll do. We had the share platter for 2. The brisket was good and fries were a highlight. The pulled pork was tender. Taking off a star because the ribs were underseasoned and our waiter seemed to disappear for a long time before bringing us the bill. Also the alcohol is overpriced.

Stopped in late for nachos and a round of drinks. Nachos were ok but the added brisket was excellent, I'll be back to try a barbecue meal here.
Nice selection of local beers and the old fashioned was very good.
Our server was super friendly and came by several times to see how we were doing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
