Discount City

I don't buy much from Discount City, except for party supplies such as crepe streamers, gift bags, the cellophane goodie bags, wrapping paper, party themed paper plates and cups, and sheets of tissue paper (and I ain't talkin' about the ones you get in a roll). The prices are reasonable on these items. It's okay to browse around and look at what they have, but I just stop in for the convenience, as the place is close to my home.

Discount City definitely is named correctly!!

It seems as if they have a little bit of everything here!! From kitchen items to tools, from cleaning items to food.

And yes, the prices are definitely discounted!! I found some good deals on a lot of things here!!

Unlike some other good sized discount stores, this one has all the shelves full and organized.

I needed to get some balloons for a party and they had what I wanted in different colors. The service was prompt with smile.

Affordable prices, great variety of items. Centrally located in Alameda. These guys are great. One time I came there and there after I lost my wallet in which I had about $200 cash in. These guys informed me that I had left my wallet there and gave me my wallet back with all of my money and refused any small gratuity I tried to give them. Much appreciated great people

Just wanted to share that while I parked on the side of Discount City on Webster, I got yelled at by someone that said he was the owner. He wanted me to move my car and said I parked in employee parking when nothing was marked. I even said it's not marked anywhere but he continued to yell at me for a few minutes. I told him that I'll be really fast but then, he continued demanding I move and ended with saying "this is my parking lot and my store so move". I told him I'm going to move and not come back. I only had been to this store twice but I'm definitely not coming back.

I call before I go, and they are super helpful over the phone. I send my family and friends balloons. They love them too.

This is a Warning to all Pokémon Trading Card collectors and parents who have kids who like Pokémon. If your a Pokémon Trading Card Game fan and collector, don't buy the cards from this store because they are FAKE. I mean Fake and I mean "FAKE." They are not worth anything. Just go to Sports Cards and Comic Shop on Webster Street for Pokémon cards. Please this a Warning. Do Not buy the Pokémon cards from this store. They are FAKE.

The owner was very nice to me,I'd just moved locally and needed a pot and pan and sum silver wear and even though he said he was closed,he allowed me 5min to run threw his store and he kindly welcomed me back during business hours.

Great place for cheap items and there is a wide array of things here. From balloons, highlighters, laundry bags, acne cream, eggs, chips, candy and other fresh produce -- we are happy to have stumbled upon this place last week. We've already been back to grab some more things because the prices are reasonable and the items are well-organized. It takes the place of a Dollar tree or Walmart and there's such a wide array of things like clocks, bathroom mats, kitchen supplies that you cannot go wrong here because there is probably something they have that is on your shopping list here. There's also a pretty big parking lot here for the area and it seems to be a family-owned place with kids around helping their fathers with the store and keeping them occupied.

I have shopped at this store several times b/c it's convenient, they carry a lot of useful things, and I prefer to support a small local business. However, the last two times I was in the store, the guy behind the counter (owner?) was running around the store with his mask dangling, despite the COVID-19 mask mandate. Two of his employees weren't even carrying masks. When checking out, I asked the guy behind the counter (owner?) to put his mask on and he did, but then when I mentioned something to the bare-faced young man who worked there, he became nasty and sarcastic and said "i'm vaccinated, I don't have to wear a mask" and some other insulting things.

I won't shop here again, they lost a customer b/c of this young guy's selfish, insulting attitude and the owner's lack of care in following mandated public health rules. At least at dollar tree and Daiso the staff wears masks like they're supposed to.
