I had a bad experience with a Douglas Parking person. I was parked at Trader Joe's on Lake Shore. When I came back there was a note on my car from the lot attendant. The note was written in a very condescending tone and didn't explain the statement of, "PARK LIKE THIS AGAIN AND YOU WILL END UP IN A TOW LOT!!"

Apparently, you aren't allowed to back into parking spaces in this lot and doing so could get you towed. I wouldn't be up set if the note simply read,
"We ask that you don't back into parking spots, please be advised for the future"

When I told the attendant that I didn't like the tone he told me, "I Don't Care"

I think the world would be a better place if we all cared a little more.

My actions effect those around me - the same is true for all of us.
Choose you actions, and your words, wisely.

      - Aaron.

1 star since I can't give zero. No staff, unavailable on weekends, blocked all signage in their lot that it was closed on weekends. Don't bother.

This garage charged us a $20 flat fee to park for the whole evening. We asked for a ticket or receipt to be able to exit later and they said it wasn't needed. When we left they demanded we pay again at a higher rate to leave the garage. We felt like prisoners being held for ransom. This garage appears to be an illegal money making scam. BEWARE.

So I come home and the door is broken. I open the door using an emergency release lever to let me in and more importantly let others out. Later Paul Harrell emails and calls me and says I'm to pay him 1200 dollars to fix his door. He called the release lever "modifying " the gate. He said im lucky it didn't do damage. So he thinks it's okay to leave people trapped, not answer their phone (because I called them first of course) and says montly parkers "are not to use that lever" okay! So what does he think this is? Quote his little rule? The door is broken and he tries to blame the first person that opened it.
But then again no wonder 1.5 stars. This is one of those businesses that thinks it can dictate nonsense to anyone. You better wake up, you should have thanked me for releasing his hostages.

Horrible company who just wants to take your money and not do their job. They manage the retail parking lot at the new Vespr building which I live in. Because the building oversold the residential garage, they are now offering spots in the lower garage that is eventually going to be public use.

There are more than 30+ residents parking down there now who cannot access the garage because the gate is always broken, theres no attendant, no one to talk to when it's not working, no way to get Vespr management to work with them on this. It's appauling, they want $350 a month but they cannot even manage the garage - it hasnt even opened to the public yet. They lie and say they're taking care of it, but it just continues to be a constant issue. They should be crediting us our money back for this constant hassle until they can get this operation working like it should - where we get secure access to the garage we pay for

      Horrible service.

They are honestly just scumbags. They will raise rates.M on you with less than 24 hours of notice

      The facility itself is fine.

I wish Yelp allowed 0 stars. I used their valet parking service at Lake Chalet, to keep my car safe, and their driver completely destroyed the entire side of my car trying to park it. He was clearly not paying attention and rushing the job, as my car has cameras and sensors that go off when you approach anything.

The hassle they have put me through trying to get my car fixed is unbelievable. They are now refusing to pay the body shop for work they agreed to pay for, and I'm having to act as their enforcer, because these low lives are trying to get out of paying the bill!!!

If you are in the business of driving people's cars, you have to pay for damage your drivers cause. Instead of making your customer's life a living hell.

We we bought a monthly parking permit through Douglas parking for Perry Lot, and within a month or two were unable to get a parking spot in their lot despite having paid for a monthly parking permit. They deactivated our account only to claim that we owed them two months of parking because the account wasn't canceled it was still "active". This is clearly a scam. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau so that they won't be able to scam other people.

Douglas parking is horrible. Management is trash and I'm not sure why they are in business. Several vehicles that aren't registered to their respective apartment building park there and they have no clue. By far the most useless company I've ever dealt with.

We have used Airpark (Douglas Parking) at Oakland Airport numerous times and have love it-professional, friendly, efficient. I have also used a Groupon in the recent past without issues.

      This time was different...

Cashier #1 stated my total was $94.50 for my Sun-Sun stay. I said 'great, I have a Groupon for that and going to buy it now' (and use it).My Groupon was for 7days with exact value:$94.50 (states value on Groupon) Cashier #1 returned and said I owed $13.50.

      Receipt-- (**also see pics)
      Parking amount $94.50
      Groupon. - $94.50
      After discount $0.00
      Parking tax. $0.00
      Parking subtotal$0.00
      Service summary
      Charge-AirportPark$13.50
      Grand total- $13.50

      I disagreed w/amount .
Cashier #1 deferred to Cashier#2 from that point on.
Cashier #2, (she said Elizabeth Mendoza was her name when ask) was clearly senior employee representing AirPark/Douglas Parking- making all decisions for C#1 actions during the entire transaction after Groupon was accepted.

She and I debated- she could not explain why the price changed after I gave them the Groupon or why the total value of Groupon was not honored.
$13.50 isn't huge, but the tone of the conversation was odd, uncomfortable- I felt as if she was trying to explain something w/o an explanation- example: if you say it convincingly enough people will believe or give up.

Maybe It was an off day, maybe Douglas Parking/AirPark isn't the tightest professional ship, even with that latitude Elizabeth Mendoza's responses weren't sound, maybe Cashier #1 was new and nervous. A lot of maybes still don't explain the facts.

I was exhausted, gone for a week and just wanted to get home.
      I gave in.
      I paid the $13.50

I have recently became aware of citizens, specifically the more vulnerable, in our community increasingly being hit with tedious things like these and its easier to pay it and go, rather go through the hassle of trying resolve/debate it--- just like most people (myself included) leaving the airport who wants or has the time to go back to debate, call, email?

All these tedious little things add up.

      ---------------------

There is a large Billboard at entrance of AirPark that specifically states no hidden fees. (**see pics)

      AirPark/Douglas Parking either...
OWN IT that you have hidden fees (service charges/different price for Groupon customers/not honoring full amount) and change the sign
OR OWN IT and fire/retrain employees, apologize and reimburse.

Not honoring Groupon full value + service charge=hidden fees
      $94.50 - $94.50 = $13.50 in hidden fees
