I've always been one of those guys that gets dragged along to body shops, mechanics and car dealers when my female friends have issues. After a few decades of that -- and dealing with all the normal car issues of my own -- you get a pretty good feel for cons and ripoffs.

So let's start with this: Lame name and all, Dreams is the best (in talent and integrity) body shop I've ever dealt with ... and I can't begin to count how many body shops that includes, from coast to coast, over the past 30 years.

A few months earlier, I had been directed by my insurance company, based on my location, toward their "preferred" body shop in Oakland -- a perfectly competent, ultra-sterile shop in Oakland where you could have eaten off the floor of the garage and eight coiffed employees smiled and shook your hand when you came in to pick up your keys -- and then sent you a 12-page questionnaire to ask how awesome they were. But Jesus H. Christ -- they came up with premium charges for everything, including parts that I knew couldn't have possibly been damaged in a 10 m.p.h. collision. Yeah, the insurance company was picking up the tab, but I knew that was going to end up on my premium sooner or later (it was sooner).

So three months later, when some clown literally backed over the top of my hood on hillside terrain on a hiking trip, my insurance company recommended the same place. I told them 'no way.' And then I told them to send their adjuster to Dreams Autowork, the place that my trusted mechanic had recommended.

I admit that I felt a little bit out of my element when I walked in and heard Kevin, the owner, raising hell with one of his suppliers in Chinese over the phone. But I trusted the referral, and ... Wow. The results were spectacular.

Kevin connected with the database for my insurance company, submitted pictures and ordered all the parts before I even left the shop. The next day, my insurance company had approved all the fixes. I was really sweating the paint job on my uniquely colored SUV -- which was no longer in production -- but the Dreams Team (ha!) nailed it -- an absolutely perfect, assembly-line grade paint job. And the whole thing came in under budget -- and spectacularly under budget compared to the ripoff job of the pristine Oakland shop, which had charged my insurance company considerably more for significantly lesser damages three months earlier.

Moreover, when I asked the Oakland place for the damaged parts, they couldn't produce them. At Dreams, Kevin took me to a pile in the back and pulled out my hood, which he let me hold and examine.

Within a few months, I'd returned to Kevin's shop three times. My girlfriend backed her brand-new Hyundai into a post -- those things don't have bumpers, and her quarter-panel was thrashed. It was a holiday weekend; by the time her neighborhood shop on the Peninsula had given her a quote and lined up a post-holiday appointment, Kevin had her car fixed -- well under the budget her shop on the Peninsula had quoted. When she had a similar accident a month later (she's beautiful inside and out, but not a great driver) and wisely chose to make the repair without her insurance company's involvement, Kevin gave us an extraordinarily generous deal. And he did so again a few months later, when my car was vandalized and I didn't want to involve the insurance company.

All in all: BEST-EVER BODY SHOP.

Kevin and his team are helpful and professional, despite this being a busy shop. He did a great job working up an estimate which required a lot of research on obscure parts for an older vehicle, but kept a great attitude all through the process and coordinated directly with the claims adjuster.

Excellent quality work, Competitive pricing. Went above and beyond to deliver top notch work. Great communication throughout that kept me informed of any complications. I am very happy with the results. I highly recommend.

Kevin and his crew did a fantastic job on our Prius C . He worked within the budget established by our carrier. He actually repaired a few smaller items not picked up on their estimate, all at no change in the amount allowed for by the insurance company. The quality of his work was impeccable. His timing was within the parameters he quoted. And he treated the customer as if they really mattered to him.

This was our first time using Dreams Autoworks but we will certainly call upon Kevin and his crew again when the need arises.

My car was badly damaged by a fallen tree, and I had to get a quote from an auto shop. I found this. Place on yelp and decided to give them a call on a Friday morning. The receptionists got me in the same morning, and was very friendly. The owner took his time to examine my car, searched up the cost of the repair for me even though it was a free estimate, I really appreciate what he did and how professional he was! Will definitely recommend friends and family to come to this auto shop in the future!

My catalitic converter was stolen, and Kevin helped me out with the best price possible, speedy work, and when it was making some funny noises afterwords (the fault of the cat thieves, not Kevin's repair) )he didn't hesitate to revisit my car at no charge to bring it back to its original condition.

Dream autoworks hooked my bumper up.even though they took about 2 1/2weeks ,I see why,the quality is so good I had to wait behind other cars....................my Mercedes looks like it's fresh off of the lot!!,...they even detailed it,inside ad out before I picked it up..I'll definitely be back!!!!

Kevin and his crew did it again. I've taken several of my cars to him and referred friends and we a end up with awesome looking cars thanks to Dreams Autowork. I was able to check in with Kevin during the process and he always kept me informed. I will continue to bring my cars to Kevin. Great group of guys, great work, great price. I've taken my cars from a simple bumper to a whole paint job and I was always happy with the work. Its hard to find a good body shop but I have found mine here with Kevin and his crew.

This is a bit late, but I know I got to post it. Kevin help me repaint my rx-7 last year. Great paint the work to the very detail. I'll post before and after photo and Let the photo talk for me.

Kevin did a wonderful job for my 2009 Camry. Replaced my left side skirt, realigned my right side skirt, replaced my rear bumper, and realigned the rear frame back in place. Work was beautiful and speedy so i couldn't have asked for anymore. Definitely recommend this place to anyone in need of some honest car work. Will be coming back here for more future work on my car.
