Chris from here is racist. He placed an order for Mexican food from a Mexican place and had the audacity to give a Hispanic man attitude because he accidentally came to the wrong place of business to complete the order. He prejudiced this man due to him having a hispanic accent. When asked where Chris was located so that we may send the order to the correct place of business in our shopping center, he said "I'm at the place of business that I placed the order from" with an attitude. There was no way of seeing where the order was placed from as the order had already been completed. I do hope this review serves as a lesson to always think before you speak especially since all we were doing was trying to help the kind man deliver his meal.

I went to Dunn Edwards with a comprehensive list of paint projects for my home that I needed to tackle - interior and exterior. I had heard that Dunn Edwards is a reliable, quality paint brand for many years, but what made my experience with them exceptional was the degree of expertise, professionalism and patience I found with their staff. Lucky for me, I was assisted by the wonderful Luis for my projects.

Luis was able to address each of my paint 'challenges' with the greatest of ease and a very keen eye: From perfect color and sheen matching based on actual paint chips I brought from my house, and helping me achieve a matte look that is super durable and cleanable (yes - it's possible!), to trouble-shooting an unexpected issue that came up (and the list goes on and on).

Think of Luis as your personal concierge for paint: He's got deep technical know-how and years of expertise, and a wonderful design-eye on top of it to give perspective on the best sheens and color choices for the project at hand (trims, doors, you name it). I wasn't expecting this level of knowledge from a paint-store - but based on my experience, I think of Dunn-Edwards as way more than that. And Luis will be my go-to for any paint-related questions and projects in the future :-)

We just went through a exterior and interior renovation and everyone at DEP was really helpful with paint selection. They were also infinitely patient with our color selection process...and it was a looong process. But, we got it done and DEP was right there along for the ride. One thing I learned is not all paint is created equal. DE paints are really high quality and it shows in the final product. Spend the extra $$ and go with a quality paint.

Did you know that they have a free color consultant with awesome PhotoShop skills and advice?

I was very stressed about choosing colors for painting the exterior of my house. I looked up color consultants, had a friend do a bunch of PhotoShop work to test different color combinations from the website, spent hours going to different stores to get paint samples, followed everyone I could think of on Instagram to get ideas, etc. I knew I wanted grey and orange, which is definitely going against the grain and colors of other houses on the street.

I finally called Angel and he could see me the following day. I emailed a photo to him. He presented 2 different ideas and adjusted them as I gave him feedback. He asked for a day to send me the results via email. His PhotoShop work was flawless and precise, and let me say it again, free! He also explained issues with dark vs. lighter colors and reminded me that super bright colors drive the painters crazy because they need multiple layers in order to cover surfaces, as well as fading issues, etc. Zero upselling, just a fabulous service.

Generally, I go to a big box store (eg. Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.) for my hardware needs, period. Based on my experience with Dunn Edwards thirty years ago (yes, that is 30), I decided to re-visit the store. Unlike the big box stores where it seems you never really get to see the same service rep twice; at this store location, I was able to talk to the same person on separate visits who made me feel that they really wanted to help me get what I needed. To me, that's a plus one in the scoreboard for smaller specialty shops. This probably explains why they have a lot of pros frequent their place.

In particular, when Kevin was not available (great service rep too), Carol Bueno took the initiative and took ownership of what I needed help on and I couldn't have asked for a better customer rep. Kudos to her for also matching a color wall paint perfectly. Now, if only she'd stay put until my next paint project weeks, months, years, and in the decades ahead; all my painting needs and problems will become a thing of the past.

My contractor purchases all of his paint through here. I guess you have to be a regular to get decent service. I have gone in to pickup additional paints 3 times and each time I have spent more than 1 hour waiting while they do whatever it is they do behind the counter. I suspect they're writing a novel given how much focus and typing on the computer they have.

I just got back from my final visit this afternoon. I was in need of some touch-up paint from a prior job. Had the color, the sheen, the Dunn Edwards codes from the can and the job sticker. I had EVERYTHING POSSIBLE and the guy STILL wanted to talk to me about what I wanted. I WANT EXACTLY WHAT I AM HOLDING IN MY HAND THAT YOU SOLD US LAST TIME. THE EXACT THING.

Now...one of the items apparently is no longer available. And by no longer available, I mean that there are signs all over the store telling me that the packaging has changed and that it's the same great product with a new great label. So maybe you should have read your own brochure/wallhanging/billboard/glossy pamphlet...so on...before telling me that it's not available. I find it scary that I had to show YOU how to interpret the code on the paint YOU sold me.

And while I was standing around there waiting to get some help, I looked through their pile of clearance items. I found some spray cans I wanted, asked what the price was- $1/can. OK...so now it's time to ring them up-$5.98/can. I mentioned they were from the clearance table and was told "Well...I didn't quote that price to you..." No, your partner who is standing less than 1 foot from you did...the one who just helped figure out where the 'any' key on the keyboard was for you...the one who's answering the phone after the 27th ring because you are apparently too busy to help her out. Maybe...MAYBE...ASK HER WHAT SHE QUOTED ME! Better yet...keep 'em!

This isn't Home Depot. This is a nationally-branded paint and supply store. I expect that the people working here would know #1-paint, #2-their products, #3-paint. I am disappointed at each item.

I will avoid this store like the plague.

I don't do reviews often at all but the customer service at this Dunn Edwards is just one I must compliment publicly. I am not an easy customer and I have had nothing but awesome people at this store going above and beyond my expectations. Home Depot and Lowe's disappointed me so much...several times... with their employees that really didn't know anything about the paint they were selling. I began my search for a store that specializes in paint since I really didn't know where to even begin. I found this place only because we drive by it all the time.

Melissa is not only amazingly helpful, but also she is super nice and talked to me about color and product differences as much as I needed. She knows the products perfectly and is just an all around expert at customer service. Not to mention she tolerates me brilliantly every time I am in there with my 2 children and even helps me entertain them so I can focus on paint for the moments I am there. She is an extremely kind person with an innate knack for customer service.

Also, they have a special service where a color specialist, Lloyd will come to your home and help you with your color selection. I can not say enough praise for Lloyd and his color genius. He knows his stuff that is for certain. He listened to me and what I was hoping for and just went right to the colors that I was searching for and gave me just enough options to make a perfect choice without being overwhelmed. He simplified my life and helped me so greatly.

And as far as the paint quality....gorgeous color and it works great! Its all I needed!

I will buy all of our paint here from now on. You can not find customer service like this anymore. It speaks volumes to have employees be so nice and helpful.

Incredible customer service. I errantly purchased five 5 gallon buckets of paint of the wrong color. Dunn Edwards was able to fix the color at no additional charge. Thank you!

The team at Dunn Edwards in Daly City is the BEST!! We did a complete remodel of the house we grew up in needing to paint the entire interior and exterior of the Sunset district house. Angel, the color consultant extraordinaire, met with us and helped us decide on colors and trim solutions that made the exterior a show stopper. His renditions of the house were spot-on and we absolutely love the finished product. John, Kevin and Carol were also great to work with, patiently helping us navigate the painting process and providing us with high quality paint that has made our house look fabulous. Thanks guys!!
