The price of this garage on weeknights and weekends CANNOT BE beaten by other parking places!

$2 parking all I gotta say

You drive up to the gate and the person inside will give you a special coin to exit with one you pay.

During the weekday working hours it is used for state workers. In the evenings and on the weekend-perfect for night out, show out at safe credit union.

Definitely feels safer to leave your car in here compared to on the street and also very affordable.

Look, it's $2 parking, except the second Saturday of the month, when it's $5. It's available after 4PM weekdays, and most of the day weekends. Before 4PM it's contacted for State employees.
It's well lit, and has a security patrolman. It's also practically empty every time I've gone.

So, no meters, no surprise street encounters, no need to circle the block forever to find a space. $2 and you're done, with security. Easy decision.

Shhhhhhhhhhh......Don't Tell Gregg R. About This Parking Garage.....

      SITREP

Wait. What? He already wrote a review?!? Aw man....

      THE SETUP

When I used to live in Antelope and Rosemont areas, this garage was da sh*t for me! But even now since I live in Midtown, if you are like many of my friends who are coming out of the town for a Saturday day-trip to the Downtown/Midtown hoods of Sacramento, This garage is your baby so you can just tool around the Sacramento Grid, worry-free, not concerning yourself about the parking-enforcement-officers.

This location is perfect for those who are coming to one of the busiest areas of Sacramento on weekends and weeknights. In this hood nearby you have:

      * Many many restaurants such as Firestone, P.F.Chengs, Mikunis, Zocalos, The Waterboy, Chipolte (ha. I had to mention this one), Pieology (ha! if I mention Chipolte, not fair to NOT mention this one too!);

      * Arts & performance destinations such as the Memorial Auditorium, the Convention Center (Hey guys! WizardWorld ComicCon starts TODAY with William Shatner!), the Community Center

      * The IMAX Theater (just saw Captain America "Civil War" here recently; at the moment it looks like WarCraft is the movie on deck here)

      * And many many interesting shops & stores (go check out G-Spot, SRSLY) ;)

      THE DEETS

The East End Parking Garage ("Garage") during it's "Public Hours" only charges a $2 Flat Fee Garage (PRE-PAY, Cash-Only with the attendant) at the State's "East End Complex" (the four state buildings kitty-corner from each other at the 16th & Capitol intersection - "Ground Zero" for the "Grid").

The garage entrance/exit is located on 17th Street between L St. & Capitol (or what would be "M" street in the North-South letter-street sequence). Again, this is great if you just want the peace of mind of having your car in a safe place for one (1), five (5) even the entire range of 13 hours during 10am-11pm on Saturday for example.

Special events will kick the price up to $5 - I've never seen it more. But, seriously, after seeing a parking fee of $50 to just park at Union Square or the hotels in San Francisco, I kinda laugh at anything under $10.

      PUBLIC HOURS

Which brings us to the next point - hours of operation for the "public". During the week, the garage serves as the state public parking garage for state employees in the four (4) buildings of the East End Complex, so you are NOT going to find parking here on a week day - state permit holders only.

But the PUBLIC Hours of Operation (for you and me and our $2) are as follows:

      = Monday thru Thursday - 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
      = Friday - 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
      = Saturday - 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
      = Sunday - 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

      Two caveats:

      (1) You may park in the garage up until 6:00 a.m. (cool if you are doing an overnighter at a friend's nearby) - but your car IS "subject to tow (at the owner's expense) after 6:00 a.m., 7 days a week" - so be mindful of your overnight timing; and,

      (2) Parking is not metered on the streets on Sundays, so why bother using ANY garage? However, just be mindful about the rules apply every day - don't park in handicapped parking without a placard; don't park in red or yellow zones, and even watch out for the 15 minute "green" parking zones - I was shocked as sh*t one day a few years back to find out I could still get a ticket parking in this zone on a Sunday. So fair warnings.

      THE LOWDOWN

A great parking garage in Midtown for an almost dirt-cheap price flat rate of $2!

      First to Review

Reviewing a parking garage may not be a topic that stimulates much interest or excitement, but if you ever have to look for a place to park while in downtown Sacramento, this may stir up some interest and maybe even a glimmer of excitement. This city owned garage located in Midtown on 17th Street between Capital Ave. & L St., is easily accessible with 600 spaces available. An affordable flat rate is charged for all night parking and all day weekends. For the last few years the fee was only $2.00, but apparently due to inflation, we recently discovered it went up to $5.00. But I think that only happens when there is a nearby event.

Now, visitors to Midtown and the Handle District can avoid the headache of looking for street parking or getting lost or having to circle the blocks until a space can be found. This building can blend in with the other buildings it connects with, so at first, it may not be easy to find its entrance until you practically come upon it. Fortunately, the unique and artistic outer building design can help attract your attention along with a few small posted signs that direct you to the driveway.

This parking garage is in an ideal location, because there are so many popular restaurants, bars, shops and even the Convention Center is within walking distance, along with the many State and residential buildings all within its vicinity. And don't forget Second Saturday which draws many art enthusiasts and critics alike.

I'm not a fan of driving downtown with its one way streets and its strict parking enforcement, especially during rush hours or week nights. But downtown has so many fun attractions, that a convenient parking facility at a reasonable price makes exploring downtown Sacramento a much more tempting endeavor for the driving phobic like me.

Shsssh. This review is not meant to get out. Don't blow our little secret that you can get covered, security patrolled parking, conveniently next door to Zocalos, Firestone, Mikuni, DeVeres, the MiX, the entire Handle district, etc. for $2 all night! Street parking has become a nightmare in recent years around here, but there is always a spot in this lot.

Entrance is on 17th street between Capitol and L in the East End parking garage. That is all!

This is my go to parking garage when I go eat along the st it's on. It's central to the some of the best places to eat like The Rind, Brodericks, Buckhorn Grill, and Eatuscany Gelato( better than Devine), and more. It's also near a neat trading post store called Zanzibar. It's not a far walk from any of these places, there's always parking, it's easy to find, and you avoid the hassle of trying to find st parking, paralell parking, or worrying about feeding a meter. It's only $2 you cannot beat that in downtown. I've honestly paid more to park in a garage before to just avoid the trouble or trying to find a st spot on a busy night when everybody and their momma is out at the restaurants.
