Econo Rooter

I called Sam last night for a backed up sink and I opted to have him come out the next morning. He was right on time, got to work and had our plumbing working in no time. And he charged a fair price.

Sam did a great job and is a very nice man. I definitely recommend calling him for your plumbing needs.

We woke to find out kitchen sink clogged and after calling around to a few places, Econo Rooter was able to make a same day appointment for 30% less than the others, which was awesome. Unfortunately, the subsequent experience was sub-par.

The technician was supposed to arrive at 2:30pm, but called around that time to tell me he'd be late and he wasn't sure what time he could get to my house. When I texted close to 5:30pm to see if he could provide an ETA, he was actually less than five minutes away (but hadn't provided an update in between).

He was able to snake our drain clear pretty quickly, but when he left telling me everything was all set, he did not remove the clamps we'd put on the dishwasher vent when we tried to plunge the sink (this is really basic plumbing, the likes of remembering to turn off a running engine), which resulted in our kitchen flooding when we ran the dishwasher overnight.

When we waded through our kitchen the next morning, we found the clamps still in place, as well as only hand-tight pipes, which we had to tighten with our own tools.

I wanted to be thrilled with this experience, but we would not hire Econo Rooter again.

Our kitchen sink backed up (or so we thought it was the sink). I called Sam around 11 and he was at our house a few hours later. Turns out the sink was clogging due to a larger back up elsewhere. He fixed it quickly, made sure all was running well at the cost he had estimated. Happy to have our sink back. Thank you Sam!

I called this business because the listing said, "Drains unclogged Low Flat rates given on the phone". Well what I discovered is that I can't get flat rate over the phone because he has to see the job first. If you have to see the job before you give a price then you are NOT charging a flat rate! Then he said he can't charge a flat rate because it was the weekend. The competition does charge more on the weekends; that is understandable. You can charge a higher FLAT RATE on the weekend! If you are expecting to pay a flat rate; don't bother calling this guy.

Sam and his colleague solved a BIG plumbing problem for the duplex. Now everything drains beautifully, and my neighbor's garbage disposer no longer backs up into my kitchen sink.
Highly recommend Sam and Econo-Rooter of San Rafael.

Not recommend this contractor. They come and not even give the estimated, they just said depending on how hard problem is. Finally take them less than 20 mins working drain my sewer pipe and come up with $300 charged. It's really ridiculous. When they're done they even not clean up the area they worked.
I give then 1 star and highly not recommended... bad service at all....

I had a backup from the sewage outlet outside my house. I googled drain blockage companies. When I called Econo Rooter asked his charge and he told me $90. I repeated the charge back to him to ensure I heard him correctly then wrote it down pleased at finding a bargain. When he arrived a few hours later I pointed out the length of the sewage pipe to where it joins the main sewage line over 50 yds away so he was aware of the extent that I wanted checked to remove any and all blockages.
He began sliding the roto-cable down the drain and after literally just a few turns of the cable drum he asked me to flush the toilet inside. I went inside and when I came back maybe 3-4 minutes later he had the cable rewound up ready to leave. Remember my sewer line is at least 50 yards long. When I asked if he had rotored the whole length he said he had. I had flushed 2 toilets presumably before he removed the roto cable and about 6 turns of his cable on the drum were wet - the rest of the cable was dry. Surely multiple turns of the cable on the drum should have been wet from the 2 flushed toilets He told me the cable went fast because it was downhill. Really and the rewind time?
When I came to pay I gave him $90 cash as agreed on the phone, THEN he told me his fee was $100 and $90. I made a point of clarifying the cost over the telephone since his charge seemed low. Had he told me $190 when I called I would have continued comparing different companies.
By all means hire him but I recommend you confirm the cost in writing by email. I also recommend you stay to watch the work is completed as requested before he packs up to go. If he sends you inside to flush a toilet after what seem like a couple of minutes then have a garden hose ready to use instead of leaving the work site.
He did nothing to sanitize the area and left the detritus that had blocked the pipe lying on the surround. The only workman I have ever hired who did not leave his work site clean.

Sam showed up to my house to examine clogged line. Did very little examination and zero work. Told me he would have send someone else to do the work. Never heard back from company, no one showed. He knew our showers and bathrooms were unusable and left us stranded and waiting. Had to give up and called Advanced Plumbing and they fixed the issue within an hour.

I called Sam on July 4th morning with a clogged drain. He showed up at my door 2 hours later and worked quickly to unclog the drain. It was a stubborn clog and took two passes with the snake to get it to clear. Sam was great. I highly recommend!
