This is a great way to get your espresso machine fixed or clean. Jim is straightforward and timely. He will let you know right away what kind of problem you have, what the choices are, and how much it will cost. His rates are reasonable and he really knows what he's doing. He also has great suggestions if you need a new machine, or a part.
After Jim fixed our LaPavoni machine several years ago, we finally burned out the motor. Jim let us know that it is time for another machine, kept our old machine for parts, and suggested a site for purchasing a new one.
We will be ordering from the site he suggested soon, and will rely on Jim for maintenance or repair going forward.

Jim repaired my 2013 Salvatore automatic in just a couple of days.

I had a problem with a E61 group head machine and asked if Jim would be willing to take a look and troubleshoot. His communication (email, text and phone call) was rapid and clear.

After drop off he quickly diagnosed the problem (a faulty boiler element) and gave me a competitive quote for replacement. He also gave me his honest opinion about the pros / cons of replacing the element given the age of the machine. I really appreciated his straightforward and honest advice. Jim came to the rescue again. Our Elektra MCL and Rancilio Sylvia, developed leaks. Jim fixed them in no time and they are as good as new.

I called EJ Services based on perfect Yelp ratings, and I am here to add another one.

I called EJ this morning, and he answered directly. How often does that happen these days? I briefly described my problem, that I have a Gaggia Classic, and that I cannot unscrew it to do a thorough cleaning. "Jim" admitted he has limited experience with the Gaggia, but that the screw I am having trouble removing is notorious for being tricky. He assessed I live in an area where the water is soft and unlikely to cause a mineral build-up problem. He offered to look at my machine and stated right out his fee starts as $75.00. Ultimately he endorsed my decision to perform a "backwash" cleaning of my machine at home, and not to worry too much about the more penetrating cleaning. Jim was not out for a buck, and gave me what seems to me well-reasoned advice, and free of charge.

I recommend Jim to anyone who has a quality machine and wants it to last a long time and run well. He responded fast and clearly to my text message and then my follow up emails. Price estimate was straight forward and it only took him a couple days to do the work even during the holiday rush.

We unpacked our Elekra after five years in storage, and, unsurprisingly, it didn't work. The hubs and I started poking around online for a reputable repairman, and, luckily, we found Jim.

The communication with Jim was via email and fairly informal. We were told to drop off the machine at his place in Palo Alto at the end of the week. Pick-up was the week following. From what I understand, Jim works almost exclusively on commercial machines, but squeezes in, at least, one home machine per week.

At pick-up, the hubs was told what the problem with the machine had been, and, should there be a like problem, how to 'repair'/'reset' the machine ourselves. We did, indeed, need to do just that a few days after having the Elekra back in house. It was no fuss.

Repair cost: 150.00 and very much worth it.

Jim has repaired my Rancilio Silivia machine 3 times over the last 15 years. Always does a fantastic job and goes above and beyond. I just recently took it in for a leak (which turned out to be a boiler breech). Not only did he repair that boiler, he also replaced the gasket on the group and added a filter to the water line. I got a couple of espressos out of the deal as well as some great stories about his many, many years in the business, riding the wave of espresso popularity.

Jim is a fantastic person and craftsman. He worked magic on my old Elektra Microcasa a Leva, bringing it back from what I thought was the dead. It works better than it ever has !

He's honest as the day is long, personable, straight talkin' and down to earth. Did I mention that the trip to Pacifica is so enticing I've almost brought my fully functioning machine back just to soak in the calm beach atmosphere.
