We heard good things about Elm Street, and the whimsical names of the sandwiches. Unfortunately, the sandwiches didn't live up to the hype.

I had a medium Sammy Davis, Jr (pastrami). The meat tasted ok, there just wasn't much of it. Secondarily, the bread was nothing special.

Regarding the ambiance, its a grab & go place. You order and wait for your number to be called. The staff is hard working & friendly.

3.5 Stars bc of the nice staff. But not a place I would return to. I was expecting a lot more meat, and better bread.

Medium Sammy Davis, Jr (pastrami) C$11 - decent

I had seen their sandwiches on social media and was looking forward to trying one. I was downtown and on my way home for lunch when I walked by Elm Street. I thought I'd picked up some sandwiches for my partner and I. I ordered a full sized il Capo and a full sized Paulie Porco and we split the two.

The sandwiches are packed with ingredients so I ended up getting 2-3 meals with my 2 halves. I liked the il Capo the best. I'm not a big fan of olives, but the muffaletta spread wasn't overpowering and added a nice flavour. The Paulie Porco I would recommend eating hot. After putting some of it in the fridge for later, the fat congealed and so the texture wasn't as good. If you're going to save some for later, I would heat it up again if you can, or just eat it fresh.

I am looking forward to going back and trying some of the others!

A hidden gem in the city! Classic Italian deli sandwiches, gigantic portions, great prices and a down to earth vibe - this will be my go-to sandwich spot. Service is great, old school and earthy charm. There is a counter where you can stand and eat and enjoy watching people walk by!

Never fails to disappoint. I got the Paulie porco full sandwich! It was very filling. I had only half and I'm saving the other half for my dinner it was a quick late lunch grab and go for me but I forgot how big and heavy these sandwiches are. Yum yum

Update: have tried some more sandwiches and here are my faves:

      Best
      - Eggplant: a perfect sandwich with crispy eggplant, marinara sauce and a delicious aioli
      - Beef Pastrami: another perfect sandwich with dijon aioli
      - Turkey: pretty good, could've done with a grainy mustard type sauce on top
      - Roast Beef: had the same sauces as the turkey (basil aioli, muffuletta spread) which were decent but didn't have enough punch to them

      Beef pastrami (sammy davis)
      Roast beef (il capo)

A solid lunch spot in the Yonge/Dundas area, Elm Street has a variety of Italian sandwiches. These are tasty and well-made (it seems all or almost all of the ingredients are made in-house), but in general these sandwiches suffer from a lack of flavour and seasoning (for example the roast beef and mortadella cold sandwiches). By far the best is the porchetta, which packs a lot of punch.

The bread stands up and has good texture, but is almost completely flavourless.

The half sandwich is a reasonable lunch size, full size is gigantic.

One of the better lunch options in the area, but I admit to missing Elm Street's predecessor in the space, Three Little Pigs.

I went to the Elm Street Italian Deli based on TikTok reviews where people said that they have the best sandwiches in Toronto. I pre-ordered a full size Tommy Gunn Italian sandwich through the Ritual app. I ate outside near Ryerson University since I have an appointment in that area and that was the only place to eat.

The sandwich was okay. I don't know what happened. Maybe if I was eating the sandwich at home or at a dining area, it would have been better. I didn't like the sandwich too much because it had too much fillings. I prefer my sandwiches simple to eat.

I would go back and try their other sandwiches and bring them home to eat.

The food was decent. The service was fast and friendly. The ambiance was good. We were hoping for a place to sit and enjoy ourselves. However, we had to stand to eat our meal.
