Emeryville Taxi

I have been a customer since 2013. Most recently for the past couple of months I have used this taxi cab on a weekly basis.

Baljit, my driver has and is very reliable, cordial, and always on time.

Friday night my partner and I reserved a wheelchair accessible taxi to go to my office holiday party. I was very excited to find this company because taking the bus and BART can be so horrible in general, but even more so when one uses a wheelchair, especially since not all pub trans services run all night. I was super excited because I thought it would be so nice to have a taxi service that we can use regularly to go out to eat, to clubs, etc. and not have to plan our outings around public transportation.

The driver was great when he picked us up... He was on time, very polite, patient, etc. When I talked to him about picking us up after the party he said he would be working until 4 AM and that I could call him 15 - 20 minutes before we were ready to go. All good.

So at about 11:30 PM I called. And I got a recording saying that the voicemail box I reached had not been set up yet. I called back five or six times over the course of a half hour. Same thing. Finally, at almost midnight we gave up and made our way to the bus stop.

We were really really really REALLY lucky that we realized that they wouldn't be picking us up early enough so that we could catch a bus home and we were not left stranded at the event.

I think it is so very important for companies that offer this kind of service to understand that if they are going to offer wheelchair accessible taxi service how important it is to actually be available to pick people up when they say they will. There aren't many options for people who use wheelchairs, and we could have very easily been stranded with no way home.
