Empire Donuts

When I lived in Vic, this was a weekly stop. Now that I don't live locally, I spend time thinking about these doughnuts, and anticipate every visit to the island because it means that I can get my fill of these treats.

My favourite, the BEST doughnut they offer...the brown butter toffee pecan. The dough is light and flavourful, and the glaze is AMAZING. I have tried other flavours (the apple fritter is good, too) but I keep coming back to my guiltiest pleasure, brown butter toffee pecan. Do yourself a favor and visit the Cook Street location, and then take a walk through the village and onto Dallas Road.

One thing to note, both locations open at 9 and often sell out of certain flavours quite early, if not all the doughnuts. If you are set on trying specific doughnuts or just want to see a full case - don't sleep in! Get to Cook St. or View St. asap!

Used to be good but quality seems to have gone downhill. Maybe a victim of their own success?! Oil is dirty and donuts are overly sweet.

Also, the owner is abusive to staff. Had someone at adjacent business fired for calling them out?! How is that cool? I can't support a business like that.

Perhaps if the owner could in some way make reparations and reconcile their harmful practices, I could reconsider a future endorsement or at least change my review. However, it's a long way to go for donuts when you could get Yonni's at several different spots around town.

Not only was I horrified to know about the unclean work environment :
the dishwasher not functioning at max capacity, the condition of the frying oil ( the colour of it was black), alongside the rodent infestation that isn't being handled, at all. It was the treatment inflicted by the owner, Mel. What she allowed to happen and what is continuing to happen.
The abuse that a member of the Afro Indigenous community should have NEVER happened. The owner blocked all people speaking out against this, instead of taking any sort of accountability. THIS IS UNSAFE.
To say I, will never ever be supporting this business again is an UNDERSTATEMENT. send your money to someone else who's frying dough.

Go here immediately! This was probably the highlight of my visit. Large, fluffy, old school donuts with a thick delicious melt in your mouth icing. More please! Some creative flavors on offer too. What I really enjoyed here was the breakfast sandwich. It's everything I want in a breakfast sandwich; egg, bacon, cheese on a lightly toasted soft brioche bun. So good and at a great price! Almost considered getting a breakfast sandwich across the road for double the price until we stopped here first. So glad we did. The perfect grab and go breakfast or donut treat and the kids left happy.

Huge, dough filled doughnuts. They were a bit too dense for my taste but they were definitely decadent and would pair amazing with a hot coffee or hot chocolate.

I got their brown butter coffee pecan but their selection was so lovely and extensive that I had the worst time deciding. I was told by the cashier that their brown butter coffee pecan was a popular choice and I can see why. It's sugary and the pecans give it a slight crunch. It's a great doughnut.

A must if you're in Victoria!

Hello. To whom it may concern regarding customer service. We just visited the Cook Street location to enquire a 3 dozen donut order for my wedding May 4. At first, staff was friendly; however, a lady came out and passive aggressively told us to order later saying "we don't entertain orders this early for May, come back in February."
We explained we're from out of town and just wanted to see what the process was to make an order for an event. The lady then asked the date, to which we said May 4th and wanted to order the special Star Wars donuts. She just dismissed it altogether. No, you can't pre-order...it's the busiest day.
Okay - no means no. But we walked out feeling completely dismissed. Zero empathy.
It's too bad. We loved supporting your business.
The headline here - saying no to a customer is fine, but do it with kindness and empathy.
Feeling dismissed, especially for a special occasion, is just disappointing for a wonderful small business.

Great little donut shop. The donuts are very fresh and the pistachio glazed was light and fluffy. My sister always gets the sour cream glazed and loves it. I recommend.

Simply put, you know what you are doing! Your products are rockin', you are always switching up flavours and types etc.

Plus, you have the impact of making loads of people lining up outside of your place, and I see the looks on their faces... they want it! Well guess what empire, there ain't much difference between them and me, because I want it also!

Ps. Can you consider making a pancake and/or maple pancake donut ... that would be cool

Delicious big donuts, interesting flavours, each about $3. The earl grey actually tastes like earl grey tea, and it's not too sweet. Fresh and moist (yes, I said moist) and delicious. The lady at the counter is sweet and friendly! We will be back.

Better than whatever donut shop ideas getting all the buzz. I recommend the homer. Your welcome
