Encinal Dry Cleaning & Alterations

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this dry cleaning place under the new ownership. I used to frequent this location for alterations without any issues, but the current owner has completely ruined my trust in their service.

Firstly, I brought in five pairs of pants for alterations and was given a specific date when they would be ready. Unfortunately, they were not ready on the agreed-upon date. To make matters worse, the owner lost one of my pants and could not find it. Instead of offering a sincere apology, she nonchalantly told me that I wouldn't have to pay for the missing item. Of course, I'm not paying for it; she should be compensating me for losing my pants!

The previous owner always provided excellent service, and I never had any problems. However, with the current owner's terrible customer service, I will definitely not be bringing my business back. I strongly advise others to find a more reliable dry cleaning place.

A month out from my wedding, I decided to get my wedding dress altered because it was a little too big and needed to fit my frame. Arezoo and Kamal are true professionals. Arezoo started pinning my dress to fit me perfectly. The cost of alterations were much more affordable than other shops and was totally within my budget. When I tried the dress on, I realized I needed 2-3 bustles because of a dance I was doing with my dad. When I found that it was still too long in the back, I took the dress back to Kamal. He worked on it that same day and gave it back to me. This team is extremely accommodating, professional, kind, and knowledgeable! Highly recommend getting any alterations, especially wedding dresses, done here!

This used to be my regular dry cleaners because it's close to my home, but something changed in 2023, and the current management is terrible. They're almost hostile in how they interact with customers, including leaving me a voicemail telling me that if I didn't pick up my items they would be taken to Goodwill within two weeks (I had left two items there for two months - it's fine to remind me, but it's not cool to include a threat in my voicemail to throw away two very valuable items that cost nearly $70 to clean). They impose a 3.5% surcharge to use a credit card (which is actually illegal, as well as wildly out of step with modern business practices, and it's so unpleasant to deal with them (and other family members have commented that they have had similar experiences) that I have switched cleaners to one that is less convenient, but has friendly, professional staff and fair, transparent prices.

I have to be brutally honest and say that I am so glad the last business owner sold the shop to a new business owner. The hours were impossible with this last person because she close shop at 3:30 PM

Not only did a new owner call me but she retained all of the things that folks have left behind, including me!

The cost of the jacket to be cleaned was extremely affordable, the owner polite and kind, the hours until 7 PM on weekdays and Saturday as well as 6 PM on Sunday.

I brought in some items to get tailored and some others to get dry cleaned. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful and all my items turned out great. I also think it was a pretty good deal. I'll definitely be back.

My favorite du cleaning place I've ever been to. The lady there is totally sweet and their prices are so good I always think she's tel like the price per piece to tailor or repair but it's actually the cost of everything I bring in. Bring cash it's better for them. I really like supporting really good ma and pa shops like this. In addition she gets my repairs done in like 2 days!! Highly recommend if you are in the alameda area.

Best dry cleaner on the island. Prices are reasonable, the care is top notch, and great local owner.

They take great care of your clothes and remember their customers. The owner has gone out of her way for me multiple times and saved items of clothing we both thought might be unsalvageable.

Great local dry cleaner. Also had some pants hemmed previously. The lady is very nice and items were ready as promised. This business is NOT closed as reported in a previous review. I did notice the hours on the window were a little different that what is posted on Yelp. I'm happy with the dry cleaning and alterations and will be returning.

I brought in a couple of dresses to be altered and the owner was very quick and friendly helping me take in the fabric to make the dresses more flattering to my figure. I was in and out in 10 minutes and I felt taken care of. I definitely recommend this business!
