This club is absolutely the worst. We were out of state visitors and I bought my wife a 110 minute massage as they were a partner spa with the Four Seasons hotel next door. When we arrived, the associate at the front desk checked asked for our ID's and checked both of us in and directed us to the spa. After wife checked into her appointment, I left to explore the area while she was getting her service but as I was leaving, the front desk associate told me that I was welcome to also use the facility while I waited for my wife. I thanked her and told her that I was going to explore the area a little bit but will be back in about an hour or so. That's where the good experience ended.

I came about 80 minutes later thinking I was just going to take a quick shower in the locker room before my wife finished her massage. There was a different person at the front desk and when I presented my ID and explained to her that the other associate told me that I could use the locker room, I was denied and she told me the other agent was wrong and told me I couldn't come in. I showed her the email confirmation from the spa and told her I wasn't lying about what her coworker told me but she once again said "sorry but she was wrong" and turned me away again.

I understand that there are policies but there was no empathy or care that the fault wasn't mine that their other associate told me different and we had spent over $400 for a simple service. I finally asked to speak with a manager who then said that the first associate was wrong but she would allow me to use the locker room. 15 minutes later, my wife finished her massage and we left. We will never come back again.

After our experience, I checked their Yelp page and saw that another person posted a similar obnoxious experience four months ago about his interaction with this same Equinox SF front desk. Stay away from this place... they don't care about how much you spend there and customer service is non-existent.

Expensive massage but customer service is non-existent for how much you pay.

This Equinox club is clearly their best and largest location in SF. It has a sauna and steam room, unlike some of the other Equinoxes in the city. The locker room and showers are way bigger here, too. There's never a waitlist for classes here, unlike the busy Union St club in Marina. You have to try a bunch of classes though because I found the majority of them to be underwhelming.

The athletic conditioning and body targeting classes like Abs are great. The room those athletic classes are hosted in, however, is poorly ventilated, prob because they have high ceilings and are on the basement level.

When I last lived in San Francisco, this was Sports Club LA and was easily the best gym in SF, given its massive size, extensive classes, and several floors of equipment. Moving back, I was excited to see what Equinox had done with the property. I had spent a few months in Palo Alto and had been a member at that Equinox, easily a 5-star experience.

How far this gym has fallen! Allegedly there was a remodel at some point, but it's falling into disrepair. The cafe is dead, the salon looks crappy, and I've never seen anyone go into the spa. The locker rooms are not well maintained, a bit dirty, and smell a bit off. Indeed, as I was walking around the gym, I thought that there was a smelly person in this particular location; I realized my next trip that it wasn't a single person, it was the horrendous stench from the sauna upstairs. Simply gross.

Of course, there are advantages. The gym is simply massive, consisting of multiple floors, a basketball court, a huge swimming pool, plus tons of machines and free weights. The class list is also huge, with something for everyone.

The biggest problem is the price. If this gym were cheaper, I might be able to tolerate the crappier parts. But at somewhere over $300 /month - which ONLY gives access to *this particular gym in SF* - is highway robbery. I've switched to the Equinox at the corner of Van Ness and Mission and I'm paying way less and the gym is much much much nicer.

I'm really sad because this used to be the premiere gym downtown. C'mon Equinox: you can do better.

This club is so obnoxious. I am a member of Equinox all access (which means I can use most clubs) and asked if I could use the restroom. I was told unfortunately not unless I paid $45. I demanded to cancel my $300 monthly membership right there on the spot. They saved $45 but they lost $3,600 a year from a long time customer.

Nice, friendly staff. Good classes. Clean facilities.

Very slow maintenance - repair team. Over 4 months to repair:
      - showers
      - swim gear spinners
      - drinking fountains

Overrated and overpriced. I am subscribed to Equinox San Mateo in California. It's basically a basement. One of the worst gyms I have been to.

I've been a member of this gym since March this year and I absolutely love it! This is definitely the best gym in my life experience. All the stuff members are friendly and helpful! Gym itself is Very clean! And it never gets super busy so I always can do my work out without waiting on the equipment.
This is a high quality gym and it worths every dollar I pay for the membership. Highly recommend.
      Thank you Equinox team!
PS: I wrote this review because I appreciate this gym and also because I think 2.5 stars on Yelp doesn't give justice to this gym!!!!!

Listen have been going here for a year now:
the upmarket one in the 4 seasons:

      NOT WORTH IT.
Other than overt sex in the damn steam room on more than one occasion

      Dirty showers.

      And absent management

      Go somewhere else.

I don't like vibe think person in this local don't really have nice body... most the people don't really follow nice workout session. If you see someone with nice body for sure is a personal trainer. So the people need more focus and motivation and less phone outside. For me is very important check people around with nice cheap is a strong external motivation.. plus the music is another big important factor.
