Pretty mid equinox location, especially when you compare it to the LA ones. However it does have the basics and a pretty nice working/lounge area in the front. I did get a great massage there from Karla as well. Otherwise I don't think it's worth the regular spend for a membership as it's small and has an odd layout.

I'm at this gym 5-6 days per week and absolutely love it. From the warm welcome when I come in the front door (shout out to Telona and Bella) to the nice folks who always keep the locker room so great, I know it will always be a good experience. The yoga and pilates instructors are fantastic (shout out to Adrienne, Collette and Mary) and the workout equipment is always in great condition. If I had to find any flaw I'd say that the two mat areas are getting pretty crowded nowadays (people getting ready for summer?), and I sometimes wish there was one more mat area.

The amenities the gym provides is pretty good. It has four levels. First floor is the shop, smoothie bar, and front desk. Second floor has the lockers and main studio. Third floor has weights, cardio machine, and cycling studio. And lastly, fourth floor weights, cardio machines, and barre studio.
Quality of the all the equipment is fine. Just like any gym that you would pay above $80 a month. But equinox you would pay over $200 for the membership. It's expensive but we know it's "luxury " and San Francisco is expensive. But that's all Equinox's.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sam M.San Francisco, CA05Oct 29, 2023
I was told by customer service that this equinox is THE MOST expensive equinox in the company. This review is written with that in mind.
I don't like this gym. I go because it is a nicer alternative to the Crunch gyms close by, but really, it is not worth it. The other reviewer below talking about the front desk staff is hilariously accurate. Super unprofessional, and often seeming inconvenienced. They're always confused or hesitant before scanning me in -- like isn't that literally your job?
There is barely any space in this gym at all. It is embarrassing. The mat areas are so small and cramped, don't even bother during mildly busy hours. I can't even imagine during peak times. There are also simply not enough weights, especially of popular smaller denominations (15-20). The "great view" and luxury feel are isolated to the top floor -- the second floor feels no better than a 24 hour fitness, but you'll find yourself there more than half the time since it's less crowded.
Locker room is standard to equinox, so I'm not impressed. Again, think of the price. Showers are actually slightly less clean than other locations -- I think they get more use because they feel newer than the average SF apartment bathroom.
Group fitness is a redeeming factor. But again, no better than other locations really.
I am still a member and will continue to be because, well, I don't want to go to Crunch. But today I just realized how horrible this location is compared to every other equinox I have been to, especially considering the relative price.
Come if you're like me and youre kind of snobby but just prepare yourself, it's not worth the money. Should be $100 less atleast.Helpful 6Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 2 - Dec 3, 2022
Equinox at Union Street is currently $270 per month, with a $300 initiation fee that is sometimes discounted or waived during promotions. Memberships are also a year long commitment that are nearly impossible to cancel. The club conceals this information, as I was only able to find it out after conversing with a membership advisor and attending an in person tour. The inflexible membership, lack of transparency, exorbitant prices, and average gym experience proved to me that Equinox is the worst value workout, a headache, and a status symbol above all else.
This location's most luxurious elements are the hotel-esque lobby and multiple floors. It lacks any other real distinguishing factors from a gym that's at least $200 cheaper. The front desk staff are comically unprofessional, stand-offish, and act like you're inconveniencing them by existing. The group exercise classes I tried during my two day free trial were okay, but didn't come close to the quality of other workout studios in the area. And to top it all off, the gym is PACKED to the brim on evening week days.
If you have so much money you don't know what to do with it and care about flexing your gym membership, Equinox is the place for you. But if you're anyone else, literally any other gym or studio would be of better value.Helpful 20Thanks 4Love this 5Oh no 5 - Peter J O.CT, CT0101Jun 14, 2024
Member in nyc and out here visiting and decided to stop in for a work out. Rusty and poorly Maintained machines. Definitely not what I was expecting with the Equinox name. Needs to be upgraded and renovated. Very run down feeling in here!!

The Front Desk girl who worked here around 4pm today isn't good. I let her know I am a member of Equinox, and asked if she can update my phone number:
She pulls it up, pretends to change it, and I asked if I can use the bathroom. She said no, and she needed to call her manager. Bro for what?!
Come to find out, she didn't even update my profile. I found out when I went to my home gym.
Dude. She's not good.Helpful 12Thanks 2Love this 6Oh no 3Business owner information

I go here to get a massage from Simon Cohn and that is pretty much it. If you are looking to get a massage after your work out he will be a good choice for you. Other than that I think it is too crowded but if you don't mind it then give it a try. It is in a good location also except street parking could be difficult to find. There is a garage parking that is available next door. I would suggest Equinox sports club in market not as crowded and relatively the same price for a regular membership or if you want to go all out you can do the executive membership.

MEMBER(s) can you please post the membership prices on Yelp?
I recently entered this gym to inquire about membership. I was told I need to give them all of my personal information including them taking a photo of my drivers license in order to inquire about membership costs? They obviously want to keep and likely sell my personal information; I do not trust companies who operate in this very deceptive manner. This gym has a bad reputation, now I see why. The receptionist was polite and professional but this gym is not to be trusted.
P.S. read their response which is pretty funny; they want me to send them my email address and information but again no mention of cost which is likely based on physical appearance, income, etc. Just post your prices like every other gym in the neighborhood?!!!Helpful 8Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 2Business owner information
