Estrellita Mexican Bistro

After living in Europe for ten years, where there is a lack of good Mexican food, we feel an obligation to try it all in our surrounding address! After seeing good YELP reviews on Estrellita Mexican Bistro, it was our 6th Mexican restaurant this month and it did not disappoint! We started with two great, freshly made margaritas. I had the jalapeño margarita and Mark had the Cadillac margarita. Both were smooth with just the right mix! We had the queso and the super nachos and a combo plate of a cheese enchilada and a steak street taco. That taco was perfection and everything else was super tasty too! Even though rice and beans are the usual sides on an entree, the rice and beans at Estrellita's were better than most! Now, let's talk about the side of molè that I asked for! I feel like a Mexican restaurant can be judged on their molè alone and for this, Estrellita's gets five stars! It was decadent and you could taste the flavor layering... chocolate, cinnamon and a bit of smokiness-delicious! But I suspect that this place does most all of those menu items fabulously! Can't wait to go back!

I came on a Saturday night around 8 PM. there weren't many people here. I ordered the enchilada suizas. It tasted really great and came with rice and beans. The chicken was marinated well and it tasted perfect. I personally think it's a small portion size. For those who like to eat more, I recommend getting an extra enchilada because they're so good!

The waiters came by to check on us often and offered water refills. The atmosphere was relaxing. Inside it was not too loud and plenty of places to sit. My friend and I sat outside where it was brightly lit. The parking lot in front has about 3 spaces so I recommend parking at the Plaza across the street.

The service is great!!

The salsas are delicious, but too small, and the chips are NOT homemade. Also, it costs 3 dollars for a tiny cup of pico de gallo!

The food is good flavor wise depending on which item you order. The black beans are inedible!!

The California Burrito contains a lot of rice and beans with minimal meat and is incredibly dry...

There is a full bar, yet they do not have fountain drinks?!?!

You get a can of soda... And there is NO air-conditioning!!

The watermelon drink was VERY tasty! The inside was very cute. Good food and good service from staff!

Had a great Friday dinner with family! Food, service and great Ambience! The Michelada is pretty good. We tired Vegeterian enchiladas, tamales and Chilli Rellenos. Kids enjoyed the food as well.

I was out wine tasting with some friends in the South Bay, and we were starved for a hearty meal and some AC. My friend recommended Estrellita, a place she had frequented back in her early start up years. The space was beautifully decorated with plenty of tables and a well stocked bar. We were seated immediately, and were offered free homemade chips and salsa, which we scarfed down right away. We ordered the following:

1. Guacamole: 5/5
2. Taco salad with Oaxaca chicken: 5/5
3. 3 taco platter and nachos: 5/5
4. Shredded beef burrito: 5/5

There was a bit of a wait for our main courses, but everything was incredible and came out piping hot! The servings were huge, allowing us to bring home food for later. Will definitely be returning when in the area and in search of a nice place to enjoy authentic Mexican dishes.

Amongst our adventures in palo alto we decided to visit one of the oldest Mexican restaurants in the city and what a roller coaster of flavors we experienced. The chicken, steak and shrimp were tender and seasoned well. Complimentary chips started the meal with a cold beer and an attentive server. The food was hot and plentiful. The restaurant is showing its age but nothing a good face-lift couldn't fix. The ambiance was welcoming and enjoyed a nice night out. Walking distance from a majority of surrounding hotels.

This place is the real deal when it comes to Mexican food. Everything there is full of flavors. It's not a tacos and burritos kind of place (they do have some on the menu if you must) more of a place to enjoy dishes like pipian or mole.

We ate at Estrellita's last night with some friends. Hadn't been there in years. It was better than ever. Makes me want to go right back. The servers were friendly, helpful and efficient. I had been graving a ground beef enchilada for a while. They only had shredded beef. It was excellent and I had a tamale that had little square-shaped meat on top rather than in the middle. It was excellent also. My husband tried their Chili Relleno which is hard to find a good one. The pepper was soft and easy to eat with the cheese inside. I took a bite and will order next time as it was also very good.
I would recommend anyone interested in have a good Mexican lunch/dinner to go to Estrellita's in Los Altos. If you don't live nearby, I'd recommend the drive. It's worth it.

I work close by so I come here somewhat often. I'm glad this place is consistent. I'd have to say this place has some of the best shredded chicken out of most the Mexican spots around.
Staff is also nice.

Great ambiance!

The service was friendly! The food and margaritas were outstanding. They use just the right amount of spice and chiles.
