The best experience I have ever had with an optometrist, hands down. I saw Dr. Kenneth Owyang for a routine eye exam, and also to order new glasses. The exam was thorough, and Dr. Owyang asked a lot of questions, in order to make sure that he was meeting all of my needs. I had a number of questions myself, all of which he answered with honesty and great detail. I can't emphasize just how comfortable he made me feel, and how willing he was to chat with me about all of my questions and concerns. He even gave me a variety of options regarding the new glasses (as well as ordering contacts), based on how much I was looking to spend. I never once felt like he was trying to up sell me; in fact, it was quite the opposite - he made sure I was clear about all pricing options, and even recommended not ordering new contacts since I still had a few older pairs to go through. Honest, trustworthy and caring - everything you hope to receive from a doctor of any kind.

When my glasses arrived, they actually didn't feel quite right. The lenses seemed to alter my depth perception. Dr. Owyang was quick to arrange a meeting with me, where he again very thoroughly explained what he thought was going on. He recommended I wear the glasses for a few weeks, to see if my eyes might adjust to this new prescription. I wore them for two weeks, and while things did improve, there was still something that was a bit off. At that point, Dr. Owyang tweaked my lens prescription just a bit, and ordered new lenses. About a week later, I received the new glasses. Since then, they've been perfect and I couldn't be happier. I have no qualms with the way the glasses were handled. In fact, I'm actually thrilled with the way Dr. O handled things. He let me express my concern, explained in his professional opinion what he thought was going on, and when that didn't work - he fixed the issue quickly. If only working with all doctors were this easy.

Overall, I highly recommend making Dr. O your optometrist. He is highly skilled, honest and extremely caring. You can search all over the Bay Area, but I doubt you will find a more complete optometry experience than the one at Eye on Vision in Palo Alto.

I only ended up doing business with these folks because they had the frames that fit the best, but the customer service from the woman at the reception desk is awful. I won't go back to this place because of her. They don't deserve your money. Stay away!

Context: I both got my eyes examined here and order my latest pair of glasses here (January 2022). My insurance is accepted here.

I saw Dr. Owyang for my examination. She was very polite, respectful, and professional. Her and all her staff are very knowledgeable when it comes to eyes, glasses, and the care of both.

Dr. Owyang uses modern technology for examinations (read: I can get the inside of my eyes checked without needing to dilate my pupils now, thankfully!) which I really appreciate greatly!

I feel like there's a lot of great glasses options and found a set a frame that I liked here!

This place is definitely my regular optometrist now!

The latest frame I purchased from Eye On Vision Optometry in January of 2022.

My appointment today with Dr. Keri Owyang-Chapman was amazing. She uses the latest technology which makes my experience so pleasant. She has Saturday hours and parking is convenient. She runs her business with honesty and integrity. She didn't try to upsell me with anything I didn't really need. I'm so happy I found someone that I can trust and not just rush me out.

Dr. Owyang has been great! She is very knowledgable and happy to explain any questions around vision.

The office runs on time and is very clean. They have also been very helpful when I needed a digital copy of my prescription when traveling.

I've asked them to switch my sunglasses lens to the prescribed sunglasses lens. However, after two weeks of wait, they put in the wrong color; from green to red. The receptionist insisted it was the correct color until I drove all the way back from home after the glasses hurting my eyes. THEY WERE GONNA MAKE ME PAY FOR ADDITIONAL LENS THEY MISORDERED!

Both receptionists and optometrist kept saying "sorry for your inconvenience" but every time I pushed her apology towards her negligence, both gave me an anxious silence. I even flat out asked whose fault it was, and again, unprofessional blame-shifting and silence instead of a simple "Sorry, we messed up."

After a few minutes of a confusing argument with the receptionist who refused to take the blame for neglecting inspection (she's not colorblind by the way), I had to wait another three weeks! And the updated lens IS NOT EVEN PUT INCORRECTLY TO THE FRAME! I'd go back and argue with them, but I'm done revisiting that place.

Friendly reminder to ask for lens price (around additional $150-300, I believe) unwritten anywhere in the establishment! If they ask for their receipt, it won't list anything but the total price so you'd have to do math in your head to review your purchase. Sweet.

Original (green) on the left, the updated lens (red) on the right. They tried to blame the color on me for "not specifying" the lens color.
The left side of the SECOND lens they gave me is not pushed in properly. Again, the receptionist made no comment.

After somewhat unpleasant experiences at Costco Redwood City, San Carlos and another establishment in Palo Alto. I'm so glad to have found a good Eye Doctor.

I had a very smooth experience from start to finish. The office is clean and pleasant. Dr. Keri was very thorough and professional in our exam. (She even showed me the pictures of my retina. And shared some tips for keeping Childrens eyes healthy.).

They have a nice selection of glasses. Dr.Keri is very knowledgeable about my vision coverage. I was able to get my eyes checked, new contact lenses, new glasses, and new proscription sunglasses all in one pleasant trip.

I am so happy to have found such nice doctors within my insurance network (VSP) and within walking distance from my neighborhood.

Both doctors and their staff were very professional and helpful throughout the exam process and glasses selection. They explain very clearly what your insurance covers and what it does not. They also go over all the additional options very thoroughly and professionally so that it is easy to make an informed decision based on your vision needs.

They have a pretty large selection of glasses, more than I anticipated to be honest! I had a hard time making a decision. I liked that they had plenty of affordable options that were within my insurance limits. Also, I was told that they offer 20% off your remaining balance if your frames are not entirely covered by your insurance. Luckily my favorite pair was fully covered, but it's good information to have for future purchases.

I look forward to coming back here for all my vision needs in the future!

I'm giving 3 stars because I'm feeling nice and this is an old/family establishment. But this is the last time I'm ever checking yelp to go to a doctor's office!

Where do I begin. First of all, the receptionist seemed a bit airy. She first walked me to the back of the office to conduct the preliminary eye exam. In the middle of the exam, she walks out and leaves me to complete the exam on my own. I sat there for a good 10 minutes before I realized that she wasn't coming back. I had to call out for someone to come check up on me.

Is it normal for a receptionist to conduct an exam? Just seems weird.

Now onto Dr. Owyang. He seems like a nice guy, but he was very intense which rubbed me the wrong way. When I mean intense, I mean that he would not stop talking and imposing his opinions on me. I get it, you're not like a regular optometrist, you're a cool optometrist.

I also didn't like that he would make assumptions before I even answered his questions. It all just felt too sales-y to me, even though he told me he wasn't trying to sell me.

I think this place is fine, but I've definitely been to better ones. Luckily, I only have to get my eyes checked once a year!
