Super cool restaurant, incredible food, and insane value. Probably my favorite restaurant owner I've ever met. So friendly, experienced, and passionate about what he does. All eight of us were honestly mind blown.
One of the best random finds so far in SF. Wasn't sure what to expect walking in (group of 8, no reservation). Immediately got seated since it was not too crowded, let the owner recommend us dishes. Food came out quickly
Would most definitely go back next time I'm in the area. Highly recommend checking it out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 25, 2024
Solid spot serving up all my favorite childhood classic Chinese food dishes.
We ordered quite the spread, General Tso Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Pork Fried Rice, Beef and Broccoli, Chicken Chow Mein, and the Dry Sauteed String Beans. Everything came out quick, piping hot, and was full of flavor.
It's a small restaurant, but we came with a group of 6 and they moved some tables to accommodate us. Saw a lot of orders going out while we were there, so definitely a great takeout option too.
Someone in our group mentioned they allowed you to BYOB, we called in to double check before doing so, and they confirmed they did for just $2 a person.
I think it was one of the owners that was helping us and he was really nice and friendly, great service!Helpful 8Thanks 1Love this 9Oh no 0 - Jun 1, 2024
Looks like this place is mostly a takeout joint. I sat there with a friend and we were the only ones in the restaurant, but there was a constant flow of people who had ordered out.
This is a solid, mainstream, Chinese American spot with all the classics done really well. The place has solid reviews, which makes me skeptical around Chinese restaurants. Most of my favorite Chinese restaurants get low reviews because of customer service. A 2.5 star Chinese restaurant probably has great food but it's a little greasy, the staff might be a little rude and you might see a roach or two. Yum. I'm going to guess because most people do takeout here because the customer service issues haven't become a thing.
We got in, the woman barely made eye contact with us, we sat at the table, nobody there, for at least 10 minutes without acknowledgment. This place is legit!
Again, basic Chinese, but super good.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 35211353Jul 29, 2024
Very solid take out experience. Somewhere in between the super American and super authentic Chinese food. Really impressed by the garlic eggplant and general Tsos, fried rice was good. Underwhelmed by kung pao, probably would get something else instead next time.

We used to order a couple orders of the pork fried wontons pretty often. Then suddenly the portion size was dramatically reduced. So we've stopped ordering. I dined in only once and was given extremely undercooked white rice to eat with entrée. When I inquired they said they have to undercook it so that they can use it for their fried rice. Insane. They didn't offer to cook it more. The owner often has some weird note up on the front door complaining about "liberal" politicians local and national or the economy. I feel bad that people have broken into the restaurant multiple times, but this was also happening under Trump btw.

First of all I am sorry for your unpleasant experience Thein. As a fellow Asian brother I appreciate your support of the struggling businesses, and your constructive criticism. My Mom has been running the kitchen as KungFood for over 4yrs now, and she’s very strict over quality control. We’ve been in the business for over 9yrs now and we live up to the portions standard set by my Grandmother. As a small business we don’t cut corners or nickel and dime our customers. Btw the 8 burglaries on my business were all happened under Biden’s Presidency, so I have every right as a tax paying and law abiding citizen to express my frustrations. I’m sorry if I have offended you in anyways for having this awakening, but I am right where I stand.Maybe you should get to know me better before you start judging me like the rest of the Woke Mob. May peace be with you and your family! Thank you for giving us your honest review and feedback, I will ask my mom to get on the backs of our kitchen staff asap.

We loved this little spot. It was walking distance from our Airbnb and so conveniently located. We know now why it has so many great reviews. The food was fantastic. The walnut Prawns were our personal favorite. The spot was small do all seating was taken and the amount of orders going out during our time was overwhelmingly surprising. It is a popular place!

My partner and I are big fans, especially because of their large vegetarian options. They have a lot of plant base options such and orange and sweet and sour chikin'. My partner loves it here.
I ordered shrimp fried rice for myself and it was delicious. They put large shrimp inside the rice which gives the dish an excellent flavor. I also was in a shrimp mood so I ordered Walnut Shrimp. This was also good. They went heavy on the sauce which is sweet. I enjoyed every bite.
They give you a ton of food in each order. You can easily spilt 1 dish between 2-3 ppl. So be ready to have left overs if you get a dish for yourself. We usually order delivery and our food always comes hot and freshly prepared.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 25, 2024
I've been ordering from Kung Food for the past few years any time I'm in the mood for some American Chinese food and Chino Yang always provides the hits. Big fan of their Salt and Pepper Pork Chop, Basil Eggplant with Chicken and Prawns, General Tso's, Korean Wings, and their Combo Fried Rice.
Delicious food at great prices and the owner is amazing. Check out their shop or order online through their website!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Jun 21, 2023
Kungfood is near the work area hood. My go to is the scrambled eggs with prawn and substitute for egg fried rice lunch special( it's like you ordered fried rice with extra egg and prawns )
Lunch special comes with your selection PLUS hot and sour soup ( one of the best and most comforting) annnnd a veggie egg roll! What a deal for a complete meal ( around 15 bucks )
Andy is the owner and if you call and and is able to speak with him, what a treat! Friendly, funny and a genuinely overall good person. He raps by the way lol. Check out his pics ! Ohhh and the pic of my go to orderHelpful 6Thanks 3Love this 5Oh no 1 - Krissy O.Los Angeles, CA1014317Jul 15, 2024
Solid Chinese joint. Portions are huge. Standard stuff but super tasty. I am a repeat customer. This is my go-to Chinese. Some stuff is more flavorful than other dishes but even those are very good.
