Are there real CSAs that deliver quality? If so, please share. We'd love to help but I'm not interested in 3rd rate produce that some of these outfits deliver. If I was paying 3rd rate prices I might not mind but I'm paying luxury prices for garbage.

      A:

My sister is using a local farmer's market service and she says the produce is much nicer but she has to go pick it up. I have used Farm Fresh to you for about 2 months and I would say about 75% of the time the produce was very good and the rest of… more

      What veggies do they have?

      A:

You generally get what's growing in season. I joined them a couple of weeks ago. They're been offering things like kale, carrots, Romain lettuce, celery, cilantro, watercress, yellow fin potatoes, orange… more

I have used this service for over a year, and I continue to enjoy it. The prices for organic produce are about the same as they are at Safeway, a bit higher or lower depending on market price. There have been a few times items were missing or damaged, a couple times an item was too small, but they have an easy way online to report and credit your account. Most produce is fresh and high quality... I just got some of the best strawberries I've EVER had. So big and sweet they were like fantasy berries. I like the convenience of offering other items as well, and generally get my organic coffee cream delivery weekly. I like giving myself the treat of flowers as well. The only reasons I don't give 5 stars: It is advertised as "supporting local farmers," but their definition of "local" is very different from mine. I do appreciate all the great info on the farms they use, but most are not local, some out of state. I guess they are local to someone :-). Delivery day/time is not customizable. It's delivered late at night and if we don't get to it in time... well, the local wildlife appreciates our offering.

From local organic sustainable farms, vegetables and fruit are what's in season, fresh and delivered on time. I prefer over local farmers markets because of the convenience. I think the prices are the same.

      Updated review

EDIT - Update on April 14

I appreciate the response from the business. Leaving a negative review on a business, especially a local one, is not something we do lightly.

There were, however, a number of times FFTY could have made this right during the many times we reached out.

      1. Clarify that the delivery will be at 4:02am, outside on the sidewalk. We would have understood that in no way was that going to make sense to us.
      2. Adjusted delivery time to any time at all up till 10pm because we were home all day checking for the box, so it would be able to be brought inside.
      3. Refunded our $70+ dollars for the box we never received.
      4. Responded in any other way aside from continually hounding us to pay for the box we never received.

      Thanks.

I've used this service for years with only a few issues. Generally they will give you a credit if there is a problem. I don't like it that they have a lot of packaged vegetables on offer. You do need to have a spot where they can safely leave the box for you until you wake up in the morning. I've had issues with critters eating eggs left on my porch so I don't order eggs anymore for example. There's a bus stop in front of my house and a few times they left the box on the bottom step at the bus stop. But I was able to clarify instructions that the box needs to be left at my front door. I appreciate being able to customize content. Sometimes they deliver items that are on my "no" list. Overall, we have been a customer for at least a decade and plan to continue to be.

Somewhere along the way FF2U lost sight of
What really mattered: the relationship with the consumer and providing a quality product. I stopped using the delivery service because my produce was not fresh. I tried reaching out and never got responses. The poor quality happened far too often to not get a response. I finally gave up and just stopped my subscription. Sad, because I had been on and off FF2U for about 10 years. I hope they take a look at their competitors and see what they are doing right. I think FF2U has such a an amazing variety of items and that's what had me hang in there for a while. However, after my concerns were repeatedly ignored I knew it was time to go.

I cannot recommend this company. Better off getting fruits at a farmers market!
All of the apricot were hard, even the ones that had some color. Half of them were still green!
The watermelon and honeydew sat on my counter for one week hoping they would ripen but they were still not ripe when I cut them open!
Picked up the bag of bananas and a large black bug was on it. It now is roaming around in my kitchen!! All the bananas were completely green!
The Beckmann strawberry rhubarb pie was sunken, not enough fruit in the pie, which I hate!

Really disappointing. Signed up with a $10- discount so my box was $27- rather than $37- and still not value. The 2 apples were on the bottom and both bruised. The peaches were underripe and slightly shriveled. They didn't ripen properly in a window either. Carrots were decent quality but bunch smaller than I would get for same price at farmers market or whole foods. Leeks similar complaint. Of the two oranges one was half green. The watercress, kale and broccolini were fine so the 2 stars are for those. I assume the company farms out to local farms so not sure who controls quality but it was REALLY poor. Canceled service clearly.

Beware of this company. If they can't get box directly to you they just leave it where ever is close. Then if you try to cancel order it takes a bunch of phone calls and a couple of orders later they still did not cancel, charged me anyway. I had to resort to credit card company to resolve issue as they are not canceling it or my credit card.

We've been giving these boxes as Christmas gifts to our children for years, but unfortunately this year the quality of the food is gone completely downhill and what isn't spoiled is covered in Safeway stickers cannot recommend them anymore

I love the produce I was getting from them. But I suddenly noticed the prices I see for the produces don't add up to my total charge. I get that they have to charge the delivery and service fees, but I think it's misleading that they don't show you anywhere how much these fees are that are added to your produce cost.

Got this message from my roommate last night

"Someone just rang the doorbell and delivered boxes of stuff for you and left it in the rain so I brought it inside the gate but left it on stairs cause it's wet* strange way of delivering at 2am"

Why are they doing a 2am delivery?! I knew they said early morning delivery, but I thought it was like 5am. They are supposed to deliver to my garage. I'm not sure if my power was out or my garage door wasn't working, but I don't want deal with any delivery issues at 2am. For them to leave a $125 grocery order in front of my door in the rain is super disappointing. I canceled my subscription today.

I've also gotten a few items that were moldy in the past. Usually citrus fruit.
