Fin Thai adds to the Polk st Thai competition providing a large, open space with plenty of seating for large groups. It's beautifully decorated with light music overhead. The menu has a few unique items and the classic Thai dishes you'd expect.

Within the classics, if you're looking for something with a sweet, spicy sauce, go for the pad thai. If you want something a bit more on the drier side, get the pad see ew.

Really enjoyable ambience and service with authentic, well-seasoned dishes.

The interior is decorated with a tropical feel that's immersive without being gimmicky. Halfway through our meal, the staff turned down the lights and brought small table lamps to all of the tables which was a nice touch.

The food was great. My favorite with the Tom yum chicken soup. I was expecting bland, watered down soup, but it was rich and well-seasoned with a nice kick of heat. We also ordered the spicy basil chicken (but substituted duck) and the morning glory (so rare to find good morning glory!). Both were great. My one complaint was the duck was a bit overcooked and tough.

Overall had a great dinner and will be back.

Stopped by this cute Thai restaurant on Polk street for an early Saturday dinner -- turns out they have happy hour from 5-7PM every day! The happy hour bites are around $8 each, and come with 2-3 skewers/rolls/etc. We also ordered 2 main entrees to go with the happy hour food, the sea bass claypot and the spicy basil chicken. The flavor was good for both, but unfortunately the quantity of food was very small and left us hungry, and it was at a pretty high price point ($39 for the clay pot).

The decor and ambiance itself was very cute and upscale vibe, and the servers were nice and respectful. I would recommend coming for a small happy hour bite but not sure if the mains are worth the price tag!

Fin Thai does a lot of things right, but for the price, I was expecting a little bit more. Our group split fresh rolls (veggie spring rolls) for an appetizer, and I got the sea bass clay pot for my entree. The dish was tasty overall, but it was a little bit difficult to eat and really mix the sauce to flavor the fish in a tall, narrow vessel. I think it might have been better served in a shallower dish. I'm not sure if I would get it again given the price of $39, but the presentation was good and some of the other entrees are better priced.
The waitresses were friendly, but the service was slow, even though the restaurant wasn't too crowded. We sat down at 7 pm and didn't leave until 9:30. Also, they brought my entree out about 5 minutes before the last person at our table was served. I understand that there might be times when the food for each person isn't ready at the exact same time, but given we were only a group of four, it would've been a nice gesture for them to tell the others that their food would be out in a few minutes when they brought mine out.
We got the shaved ice for dessert. The presentation was immaculate, but the first one was too frozen solid for us to cut into it. The waitress realized it and brought out another one that wasn't quite as frozen, which was a nice gesture.
Overall, a tasty meal with some unique dishes and great presentation, but could be improved with faster service.

Need to come back to try more dishes. Everything was so delicious and big portions. I love the ambience of the place. I wasn't too hungry, but knew to always get a papaya salad and dessert. The papaya salad wasn't too spicy and the panna cotta was perfect sweetness. The crab salad was delicious especially with the sauce drizzled. Thank you to the owner and staff for the hospitality and recommendations. Definitely recommended if you're in the area.

We stopped in here after walking by it several times. Its super clean and inviting from a vibe standpoint. The service was great throughout. They tell you right from the start that it is Thai, seafood heavy and decently spicy.

The spice conversation was interesting though because all three of us said we preferred it spicy and none of the dishes were spicy even after we asked for spicy.

Regardless, the dishes themselves has a lot of flavor and they can make a few items vegetarian as well.

Very aesthetically pleasing - one of the nicest looking restaurants on Polk street. Great happy hour menu and food selection. They pride themselves on the visuals and taste of their menu. Would recommend this place with 2 thumbs up.

Thai restaurant that opened recently. Menu is pretty small I'm comparison to competitors, but overall selection was half expected and half special with things one normally do not see at a Thai restaurant. For example, instead of the usual coconut milk Thai shrimp or chicken soup, theirs was with clams. Instead of papaya salad with shrimp, theirs was with raw blue crab.

Overall food was authentic and delicious. Service was a tad slow. Drinks was limited to cocktails but with sake and soju and small selection of wine. Ambiance was spacious, clean and nice. Price was within range of usual sf restaurant. With four items splitting and portioned perfectly, it came out to be $60/person including tax and tip. Will return.

Sea food Tom Yum fried rice is one of my favorite dishes from Thai restaurants and this one didn't disappoint. Would have liked it to be spicier but the flavors were on point. Will definitely be back!

Stepping into Fin Thai feels like being transported to a tropical island in Thailand, thanks to its meticulously decorated interior. I learned that the owner decorated the place himself, with one wall painted to resemble an ocean and beach view, and the roof of the bar area topped with coconut palm tree leaves. Their crab fried rice was served with good amount of crab meat, and the crispy prawn rolls was delicious flavor. My favorite was their ginger tea, which struck the perfect balance between ginger spiciness and sweetness. The attentive service adds to the overall experience, with servers regularly checking and tidying tables. With its charming ambiance, Fin Thai is an ideal spot for group outings.
