      Really happy with the door installation by Raul - Fix It People! The team was a pleasure to work with.

      I had some water damaged window sills and Raul did a fantastic job with replacing and refinishing them. He also took less time than expected and was friendly and professional. Would call them again. Thank you!

      Stay away from this company !
      First, they did an estimate via facetime (that should have been a red flag already) but I agreed to that amount. 3 days after the job started, they wanted to increase the price of the job because they underestimated the amount of work that needed to be done and, if you don't agree, they stop the job that had already started. Basically, you are a hostage until you agree to the new price tag.
      Then, the contract stated the job was going to be completed in 5 working days, but it took 30 days to tile a 1,100 SF condo because they sent 1 person ONLY to do the job, yes, 30 days long days. Also, you think they would clean the floor to see the final job, well, they didn't. I had to hire someone to clean tile by tile in order to give my ok to the job done.
      Lastly, the final bill came and of course they wanted to charge me a huge amount of money for materials that was never used.
      After a lot of emails back and forth, they agreed in a small discount but definitely it doesn't worth the aggravation to live in place full of dust and construction materials for a FULL MONTH and be charged almost 60% more of the original quote.
      In few words: this project was a nightmare !

      Don came by to fix a leaky water valve and install a new dishwasher for us. Both visits, he was courteous, prompt, professional, and knowledgeable about his work and got everything done efficiently. We appreciate him and his humor as well as the excellent work he did.       Update: After leaving my initial review, the manager reached out, offered a discount to remedy the situation, and explained their perspective on the matter. I went ahead and adjusted my review to reflect this.

      Original:
      I want to start out by saying that the porch repair work that we got done by Steven was well done. He was also very pleasant to work with, explained the issue, and how we can better maintain the porch moving forward.

      My complaint focuses on the inaccuracy of the quote compared to the final bill. We decided to go with Fix-It People because their quote seemed fair and was within our budget for this project. The final bill, however, came in over 50% higher than they had estimated. I understand that estimates may not always be accurate, but this was a significant difference. Additionally, their estimate was made based on photos. If there's a risk of this level of inaccuracy, they should have somebody come out in-person to assess the work rather than rely on photos.

      Regardless, the initial invoice had stated "Any significant change in cost will be communicated up front and will reflect on the final invoice." I was never notified of such a change at any point in the process, only when we got the final bill. Upon reaching out to customer service, I was told that there were higher supply costs than they had initially considered. I wasn't told why. The only compromise they were able to offer was to take away the supply mark-up, which still put us at over 40% higher than the original estimate. I finally requested that we meet in the middle but never received a reply, and instead they billed me with my credit card that was on file.

      Fix it People was not able to help with my unique issue (regarding a 100 year old cedar chest repair....) But! sent me a contact for a specific company that works solely with antique cedar chests.

      As stated in other reviews, they leave out many details in the initial quote that add considerable costs that should not have been omitted. In my experience, I sent 20+ photos of the work to be done, and not only did the majority of the work not communicated to the worker, but he also made two visits, and both times claimed that none of the quoted work was on his list to do. After the two trips, I canceled the remaining work to be done, only to get an invoice for more than that quoted work. They claimed to have given me a discount but proceeded to invoice $200 more than the original quote, even though half of the work still needed to be done.

      I don't recommend them for anything outside of small repairs and fixes. The small work was done without issue. BEWARE of the quote they give you unless it's a simple task they will add large costs to it.

      After leaving my previous review, the general manager Brent did reach out via email and ask what they could do to remedy the situation. If I'm being totally honest, I took a few days to reply even though he offered a 25% discount. But at the end of the day, my complaint was just with the one estimator originally assigned to my request; everyone else I spoke with was prompt and polite. And I was having difficulty finding another contractor that could do both the electrical and dry wall repair work.

      In my reply to Brent, I was really clear about my concerns: I wanted to be sure they understood my full request, and I wanted the option to break out re-painting and re-wallpapering the areas affected. Brent was very accommodating: he reviewed the original estimate and clarified the electrical jargon for me; and I absolutely felt validated when we realized that one of my asks--a kitchen light, of all things--never made it to the original estimate.

      From there, approving the estimate, paying the deposit, and scheduling the work were all a breeze. Whatever system Fix It People uses was super intuitive. I got an email confirmation when the work had been scheduled that included the names of the people I should expect to do which tasks on which days. Both Toufik and Raul were on time, tidied up and left their equipment out of the way when they left each day, and most importantly, they did a great job, even finishing a little ahead of schedule!

      I requested an electrician to examine and repair a wall outlet that appeared to be nonfunctioning. The technician arrived as scheduled; he first checked a red switch on the outlet, without removing the cover, finding that it had been turned OFF [accidentally]. When he flipped the switch ON, the outlet became fully functioning again. My stupidity was to blame! A couple of days later I received a bill for the second half of the original estimated cost plus materials [replacement outlet cover]. I contacted customer service explaining what actually happened and asking for an appropriate adjustment in the cost. To my surprise, the customer service rep explained that the technician hadn't gone into detail about the visit and the material had been purchased before the visit because of my description of the problem--then, in a good will gesture--waived both the material cost AND the remainder of the original estimated cost! Wow! That's what I call "above and beyond" customer service. I'll be sure to contact Fix It People for a quote the next time I need any of their many and varied services--after I make sure the problem needs more than flipping a switch to the ON position to solve it!
