Folsom Lake Express

This is Folsom's Best private transportation service. Don't be fooled. I've gotten rides from several other airport shuttle companies. Folsom Lake Express is the real deal. Been riding with them since 2008. Aways on time, clean new cars, great flat rates, beats everyone else by far. Excellent service.

I've been using this service religiously since 2006, in very high volumes. It's about as turnkey as you can possibly get. I just email and they show up. Somehow they always show up exactly at the right time. I've always wondered if they wait around the corner and then come down my driveway exactly when it is pickup time, I don't know how they do it otherwise. They have it down to a science.

The vehicles are always in very nice condition and I've never experienced mechanical problems with them in all my hundreds of rides to SMF and SFO with them. The entire family is friendly and the always ask about how my wife and kids are doing.

Further, I frequently make requests of them which require flexibility, and they always support. For instance, "can stop at this one Brazilian market on the way back from SFO? My wife wants something that they only sell there." Or, "can we drop by my friends house in West SF? I need to give him a package." And they always support, as long as I tell them beforehand of course so they can manage their schedule. And of course I give them a little extra for their flexibility and their time.

A few times in 2017 I ended up using Uber because I forgot to book with Folsom Lake Express and, even if they would support, I didn't want to throw a hot potato to them like that just 3 hours before a flight. Anyways, every single time I did it was a nightmare. One guy with a mouth full of gold teeth and a car that had major problems with the brakes and the steering that his friend "serviced" instead of a mechanic. Another guy who took the most ludicrous route possible to the airport, using Douglas blvd to get there when I live in El Dorado Hills and he should have obviously taken highway 50. Another old lady who was driving her daughter's rundown piece of garbage that day and ended up taking me through residential back streets in Natomas (off of highway 5!) because that's what the navigation told her to do. I don't know how I ever got home that day. So frustrating after a long trip. You want to relax, not stress out with inept and unreliable drivers.

I'm so busy that I have to get to all my business and personal calls when driving. With Folsom Lake Express, I can do that, and I don't have to worry about other passengers and I don't have to worry about them taking some crazy route. I can just multi-task and focus on being productive. With Uber, I can't make a single call because they will do something stupid, so I have to babysit them the whole way.

Close your eyes and use Folsom Lake Express. It's the same price as Uber and they are infinitely more pleasant, reliable, and flexible. Familiarity breeds confidence. After a while, you wouldn't even dream of doing it any other way.

Edit - Can you believe it? A couple of days after writing this review, these guys saved my tail. I had booked a pickup at SFO airport for 5PM on Christmas Eve, as I was returning from international travel. I had realized when I landed at 11:20AM that I gave them the wrong time! I called them and they quickly arranged for another driver to pick me up 10 minutes after my call, with no booking, billing, or paperwork involved on my end. Unbelievable service! If it wasn't for their responsiveness and resourcefulness, I would have been sitting around SFO for 5.5 hours on Christmas Eve instead of being with my family. These guys are the best!!

We used them from SFO to SMF. The pick up was great and timed perfectly. The bad part was the driver's speeding which really increased along the El Cerrito corridor when the speedometer hit 95 mph. I told him to slow it down and he gave me a terse ok and nothing else in the way of an apology. I stiffed him on the tip. I also sent an email to the owner with my complaint and received a very generic apology.

Great service. On time. I have used this company for my transportation needs and they have never dissapointed.

I used Folsom Lake Express for many years and was very pleased with their service. However, when I made an online reservation last week, I never received a confirmation. I emailed them several days later (my flight is in a few days) and they did not have any record of my online reservation. I left a message for them and they returned the call, saying that they didn't have my reservation and with the "aggressive" tone of my message, that I should look for another service. Interesting, I had the same problem a few years back where I received no confirmation and they didn't seem to have my online reservation. Wonder what happened to their reservation system for this situation to happen twice in a row?

I made an online reservation, in the destination option it states very clearly that if your destination is not there select Other and enter it in the comments box. I did so and wrote Oakland Airport. Got the confirmation email, all good.
I decided to call anyways to confirm the price and reserve a trip back, when to my surprise they told me they don't serve Oakland. Why did they confirm a reservation for a trip they don't do? I'm glad I called or otherwise I would've found out the day I'm departing and more likely missed my flight.

I used their service in Nov 2021. They were outstanding then and Dean was very pleasant to deal with. But today was a total different experience. I had texted Dean last month itself for my upcoming travel. I sent him a text today to remind him of my travel. He was clueless about it. When I called him, he was rude and had very poor customer service attitude. He told me that how can he remember something from a month ago. Well that is his job to remember and book an appointment. Not using them again and I would not recommend them also

I have taken this service three times to Sacramento Airport, leaving twice at 4:30 a.m. They have always been on time to pick me up and get me there promptly! If there are traffic delays, they know how to take an alternate route to get you to the airport! They also have picked me up at the airport, communicating exactly where we can meet each other. Their prices are reasonable too! Folsom Lake Express is fantastic!

Not sure what has happened to this company, but it has fallen off. Called a week and a half prior to needing a ride to the airport, could tell the guy on the other end of the phone wasn't really taking my info. A few days prior called to confirm and what do you know, no record of my call..remake the reservation still didn't get a good feeling, driver showed up on time and was asking me the best way to get to the airport??? I have zero confidence in this place and would recommend you find another place. They use to be good, not sure if they changed owners or what the deal is.‍

I booked a shuttle from Folsom to San Francisco International Airport to catch an international flight, and the driver showed up 30 minutes late. A lot of the other 1-star reviews here describe an experience very similar to mine.

About a week before my trip, I called Folsom Lake Express to book my ride. The reviews and the rates looked good overall, so I figured I would try them. The person who picked up was driving and said I could submit a reservation through their website or to call back in a few hours, so I went ahead and emailed the reservation request. The next day, I got an email confirming that my reservation had been booked.

A week later on a Saturday at 11:00AM, it was time to go to the airport. I was a bit worried when I didn't see anyone for about 8 minutes after, so I called them to see where the driver was. They said they would look into it, and they asked me when and how I made my reservation. That shouldn't matter; it should be on their schedule regardless of the details of how I booked it. About 10 minutes later, the driver was still nowhere to be found, so I called again. They said that the driver was on the way, but at this point, I was losing hope. Not once did they offer an apology. Finally, at 11:30AM (30 minutes late), I put my bags in my own car and was ready to drive myself to SFO. Just then, the driver finally showed up, so I accepted the ride.

The driver told me that the dispatcher is run by a family and implied that they were sometimes forgetful, as he had no idea that I even had an appointment until I called to inquire why they were late. He said it was a "good thing that I called them." Although the driver didn't offer a direct apology, he did try to get me to the airport on time, which luckily was a successful mission. I had purposely left extra time to account for traffic, but had I not, I could've missed my international flight.

Since I had booked a round trip service (for my ride back a few weeks later), I decided to cancel the ride back to Folsom because I didn't have trust in the company. When I called to cancel, the person asked me when and how I had booked it (the same questions they asked when I called to report that the driver didn't show up). It is apparent that however they track reservations is extremely disorganized and unacceptable for providing timely service. Finally, they "found" the reservation and canceled it.

I requested online a ride for two days later. I was confirmed by phone, we set 4:30 pm (pre Christmas travel), was at front of hotel 4:15, no ride at 4:30, called at 4:45, "driver on their way, called again at 5 pm "driver on their way, at 5:10 a dark colored SUV shows up. The driver who said she was from the shuttle company, she said she was sleeping because she was not feeling well.

So I rode to the airport with her- I needed to get to my flight. But I hope I would not be sick after the ride. I really should have been charged less for the ride but was charged a $3 fee to put on a credit card.

Will not use again-they should not accept a customer if there are no vehicles or driver's available.
