Foster City Medical Center

I recommend this medical center. Dr. Howard is brilliant and caring. As my primary care physician, she has worked with my specialists in an essential way to greatly improve my health. I am very grateful to the doctor and the center staff, especially Marilyn. They have been excellent working with difficult paperwork and many issues ranging from chronic to urgent. The majority of patients that I know being seen here feel the same way. Many of us have relied on this medical center through crisis as well as regular office visits and exams for many years. This is my seventh year with the center, and I've known many people to switch and stay at FCMC. The doctors know what they are doing. They keep up with research and care for patients' holistic health. Dr. Howard's attention to detail and patient education is outstanding. I've never had problems with referrals and I appreciate follow up and care from staff.

I am glad I found this place after moving into Foster City. I used to go to Palo Alto Medical Foundation and I used to dread going to the doctors. I love the fact that is a small practice! Parking is always easy. Jennifer Deem is THE best provider I have ever had. She is very pleasant, and her humor really lightens up the mood of "going to the doctors".

All of her staff have been really nice and helpful.

I've been coming here for years. I love the nurse practitioner and overall experience. But they simply schedule too many patients. I am now sitting in the waiting room for 40 minutes pass my scheduled appointment time. It's simply not cool to over schedule like this.

If you can, go literally anywhere else. I had 2 phone calls with the staff where I was told my Urgent Care referral would be honored by my Primary Care provider at FCMC only to be told on a third phone call that I had to come in to be seen.

Their policies actively put me at a higher risk for a further infection. They don't care about patients, only money. Awful, awful place.

Unfortunately this was one of the worst experiences I had with any doctor's office ever. I moved to the neighborhood and looked for a new PCP, and this office seemed to fit the bill. I had an initial physical with Dr. Tam and I was happy with his expertise and rapport. However, the office as a whole was a complete, humiliating fiasco. A few months after this initial exam I called for a prescription refill (a simple prescription I've been taking for years, and that my old doctor would renew after an email reminder), and I couldn't get it in full three weeks. The receptionists would leave me on hold for 10-15 minutes at a time, and then they would just hang up. Each call would take about an hour of my time, with all the waiting, hang ups, and calling again. When I finally got to talk to someone, each time they said they would leave a message for Dr. Tam, and nothing happened. Three weeks of that. My last call was with a person called Merilyn Henriques (or something to that effect), who was the rudest, most jaded person I have ever talked to in any doctor's office ever (and we know how jaded they can get). No apology, no responsibility to the patient, no acknowledgment of the obligations they have, nothing. She could not care less. And I still don't have my medication, which is causing me pain and distress.

I will be reporting this experience to the Medical Board of California. I hope they improve their service and get up to the standards of medical profession, or they should close the shop. No one deserves to be treated like this.

Be prepared for the worst service experience. Long wait to get an appointment, and when you get to the appointment on time, there is a long wait often more than 30 minutes. Unprofessional and totally disrespectful of the patient's time.
The waiting room can get crowded and it's inconsiderate of FC Medical Center to put patients at risk of contracting Covid while waiting for their pre-booked appointment. Disappointed to say the least!

The past 3 months every time I attempted to get a prescription have resulted in miscommunications with the pharmacy, prescriptions not being sent over within necessary time frame, and unnecessary restrictions on when they can be filled, baffling both me and the pharmacist. I have had to take hours out of my day, distracting from my work, making me nearly miss flights, all because of mistakes by this office.

The front desk staff are wonderful, but it has been the most painful medical experience of my life, leaving me incredibly stressed every single time my medication is about to run out.

I came here and saw the NP. The NP is great.

However, the billing team here is frustrating. I came here because it was listed as an in-network office by my insurance. I confirmed it with the office on the phone when setting up my initial appointment. After the visit, I got a huge bill because they filed my claim as out of network. I talked to my insurance first, and the insurance said they are in-network but they are choosing to bill out of network, and my insurance talked to the billing team at this office. They said they would fix it for me, several weeks have passed and it has not yet been fixed.

I had to go in for a follow-up visit. During my follow-up visit, I made sure to talk to the staff in front and told them about my issue, they assured me it would be fixed. I made sure to emphasize to them that I don't want to be billed again as out of network for this follow-up visit. They assured me they wont and it will be billed correctly. I was a bit skeptical as it just seemed like they were trying to tell me what I wanted to hear. A week goes by, and as I guessed... I was billed out of network again... still haven't been able to fix this.

Highly recommend this place as it's our go to emergency clinic. The staff are all friendly and attentive. Make sure you call ahead of time to make an appointment which sometimes can be same day if you call early. Plenty of parking and love the doctor here!

This is an appointment-only facility at this time, even for urgent care issues. After waiting for 45 minutes beyond the appointment time to handle a knife cut on my finger, the physician on duty admitted that they had very few injury cases since the pandemic and I needed to talk through the wound bandaging process from my own training. On the bright side, I did get a necessary tetanus shot and suggestions for regular age-related standard medical testing. When asking the front desk after treatment, they were unable to even speculate as to how much a bandaging and tetanus shot might cost. I'll find out when the insurance company sends the bill on a high-deductible policy. This sort of thing is normal now. Such is life.

I came in as a first time patient as my previous primary is about to retire. The place is easy to find and has lots of parking. Arrived 15 min early to fill out paperwork and was seen by Jennifer Dean NP at the time of my appointment. I was satisfied with her care. We went over my medical history, current medications, and immunizations, etc., followed by physical exam. Overall, I am very satisfied with the care I received and the customer service the front office provided.
