I AM REQUIRED TO PUT ONE STAR, BUT IN REALITY IT SHOULD BE ZERO STARS

I would NEVER recommend this company for appliance repair. As with the other reviews, they were hugely overpriced. I was quoted $238 for a dryer repair ($135 labor, $95 parts plus tax) that I've come to learn was (1) partially unnecessary, (2) grossly overestimated for labor costs, and (3) grossly overestimated for parts cost.

Estimate involved a belt replacement and drum guide wheel replacement. I called two other appliance parts companies and was quoted $30 max for the wheel kit and $20 max for the belt. Four Brothers' quote was $95. THEN learned that unless belt is broken or seriously cracked (which mine was neither) you don't need to replace a belt -- so he was making an unnecessary replacement.

I paid their $65 "service call" fee and ended up doing the repair myself with the new wheels in 30 MINUTES -- that's from start to finish -- and I'm not an appliance repairman.

To cap it off, the "professional" they sent seemed very uncomfortable with taking the unit apart and inspecting it. He scratched the paint while inserting a screwdriver into the top of the unit to pop it open. Overall, he looked and acted very inexperienced and had to call his boss to tell me what parts needed to be replaced because he didn't know how to say the name of the part, and apparently couldn't simply show me.

Twice I had an appointment with them and both times they call right before it to cancel.

I don't know why their repair service is like but they can't even show up.
I actually didn't know it was them b/c the place I called was called East Bay Appliance Repair, turns out though it was them.

Zero stars! Horrible! Rip off pricing scam. They send non-English speaking workers who probably aren't getting minimum wage from these creeps and then they "charge by the job" - which means, once they've gotten into your house and you're obligated to pay their service call fee, they refuse to quote an hourly rate or parts cost!

Our "job" was $165 for a less than 30 minute job replacing a rubber washer hose! The problem for us was that once we were obligated to pay the $55 visit charge, we couldn't be sure we'd save enough to make it worth all the trouble - so basically it is an effective pricing scam.

I WISH I could rate this company zero stars. They've been "fixing" our oven for over two months, and charged my landlord over $500 for the repairs and parts they've made so far. It turns out they left our oven leaking copious amounts of gas, after jerry-rigging an odd solution for our vintage Wedgewood stove. PG&E has come out twice to our house for gas leaks , and has served us with two hazard notices. So, we ended up with an oven still broken, a gas leak if we ever turn it on again, and a landlord who doesn't want to spend any more money on the oven after paying $510. Don't use Four Brothers, they're flakes.

Waaay overpriced. I called several places to get a basic repair done on my oven. I was quoted $120 to $160. Four Brothers didn't offer quotes on the phone, but they seemed like a big company, so I figured they must be pretty straightforward business people. WRONG! The repair guy came out, and after confirming that I just needed the ignition replaced (it's a $10 part that takes 10 minutes to repair), he called his boss, who quoted $270! The part was listed at over $130 on the estimate. Eventually, he talked to his boss and got it down to $190, still well above the highest quote I got from other repair places.

But at this point, what do you do? They charge a $65 service charge for coming out. So they basically put you in a major financial dilemma.

My advice? Go with ANY other appliance repair company. Trust me. I called several and they ALL quoted way lower than Four Brothers. And I've dealt with others. They are more professional. And there's now quite clearly a reason why Four Brothers won't give quotes over the phone. So they can take advantage of the position you're in once they're at your place making the $65 "service call."

And although my oven is now fixed, there was nothing special about the service (except where the repair guy knocked down my entire spice rack behind the oven and got my spices all covered in dust and webs).

They are PRICEY! Watch out. They offer a "Free" service call but charge you $65 if you don't have them do the repair. The labor is really expensive and they MORE than doubled the part cost. We negotiated it down but it was still REALLY EXPENSIVE. The only reason they get one star is that the repair guy who came was really nice and very good.

This company is the worst. They promised to show up to my house at 10:00 in the morning. No show, no call. When no one showed up by 1:00, I phoned and they promised to show up by 3. I reorganized my whole day around it. No one showed up at 3, 4, or 5. Or called -- each time I had to call and was told "any minute," soon, etc. Someone showed up at 8:00 PM after I had been stuck at home for an entire Sunday, and did an overpriced simple repair on my washing machine. But he had run out of time to inspect my dishwasher, so he promised to come back another day without charging me for a new service call. When I tried to arrange this, however, they said that this was "against their rules," they wouldn't do it, and it didn't matter that this was what their service technician had promised. DON'T USE FOUR BROTHERS!

Although the scheduling staff was pleasant, the technician made a diagnosis of my washing machine repair without even looking at the machine. He couldn't figure out how to get the lint trap back in and had to ask me. He asked me why I didn't just buy a new washer -- my machine is about four years old and surely not ready for the junk yard. When I questioned his diagnosis he yelled in my face that he had been doing this for seven years and he knew exactly what he was doing. When I asked him to leave, that I had no need of his services he became belligerant and yelled at me that I needed to learn how to treat people. He said this over and over again. He stood in my front hallway refusing to leave and daring me to call to the police or hit him. I finally had to push him out the front door. Upon calling his office, the reception staff was apologetic but I never heard so much as a peep from anyone else at the company. I can't imagine ever being desperate enough to call these people.
