Blatant fraud. Hours are not correctly listed and they overcharge you. Don't ever park here.

DO NOT PARK HERE OVER NIGHT. There's a review from like 7 years ago saying the same thing I experienced but i stupidly thought that things might've changed. I parked my car here overnight as there is not good options for overnight parking in downtown San Jose and was staying at a nearby hotel. It was there about 12 hours and when I returned in the morning it had been broken into. The security guard who came to help file the report said there are lots of break ins and in some cases has found the person who broke into the car still sleeping in the car. There are no cameras or security monitoring the garage so there is no way to find out who did it or stop them from doing it again.
On top of that, I still had to pay my ticket to get out of the garage.Helpful 6Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Tiff P.Pinole, CA04776Sep 20, 2021
I parked here to go to the Improv place on Saturday. The first 90 minutes are free and I ended up paying $7 for about 5 hours. I'm glad I found this place because the parking lot right across the street was 7 dollars an hour! I rather walk 5 minutes than pay 30 dollars for parking anyways.

I read the recent reviews that the 4th st garage for Park SJ no longer sold permits for SJSU students. However, I went by today to check and that wasn't true; they are still selling SJSU student permits. The only thing different for this semester (not sure if it will apply next semester) is SJSU students are not allowed to park on Wednesdays due to a program the parking garage signed a contract with (I don't remember much of the details).
I'm not sure if the phone line was busy, but the phone number listed on the website didn't work when I tried calling around 10-11am to clarify the SJSU student permit situation.
The parking spaces are easy to park in, the garage is never full any time of the day, and the entrances are easy to access (one on 4th and the other on San Fernando).
At times, it smells like urine (yuck...) depending on which floor you're on. The one that reeked of it was the second floor. Sometimes there will be days where the San Fernando entrance isn't working, so you would have to spend an extra 2-3 minutes to get to the 4th street entrance.
The hanging yellow beam that is on the second floor when entering the parking garage has fallen before (fortunately I wasn't around when it happened). Be careful driving around that area because at times there are cars that make the height drive through and cause it to be loose enough to come off.
A car next to mine was broken into last semester during finals, so please be careful and leave your valuables in a well-hidden spot, at home, or with you.
TLDR: 3 stars for available parking any time of the day, entrances that sometimes don't work, certain areas that reek of urine, cars may get broken into if you're not careful enough, and there is a risk of having your car getting hit by the hanging yellow beam.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christina C.San Jose, CA736566Jul 12, 2016
I park at this garage for work and purchased a monthly pass. There were initial issues with everyone's pass not working, but they eventually fixed it after two weeks (that was a headache in itself). About three months ago, i came back into the garage after leaving for lunch and there was an issue with the gate. I scanned my pass anyway to go in, but when I was leaving, the computer has no record of me entering after lunch. There were tons of other people with issues with their parking tickets as well. The really rude Asian man mentioned by another reviewer told me that I messed up my pass and need to pay the $20 daily max to leave. I told him I have a monthly pass, so I should not need to pay. He yelled at me that I was blocking traffic. I reluctantly paid and decided to try to get a reimbursement from the office the next day.
The next day I was told about the record of my in and out (that there was no record of me entering after lunch), which caused the error and that it was my fault and the rude man was correct in making me pay because they "can't just let people out without writing a reason to the head quarters". What utter BS. The guy also told me there were no issues with the gate the previous day. If that's true, then how the heck did I get into the garage with my pass that there's no record?? Reading the comments on here it seems that others have had the issues in the past. I filed a claim twice in person and via email (with the claim form they provided) and it's been three months without a word from them.
I would never park here, but I have to for work. They are crooks and provide terrible customer service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 4814082753Apr 4, 2013
85. I've been writing reviews for parking garages lately cause I've been out and about in the downtown area. Everyone knows downtown parking can be a hassle. But this garage is the best place you can park, in my opinion. It's one of four garages where you can validate (free for two hours on weekdays, free all day on weekends). It's fairly new and large, so there's plenty of spaces.
I always have to validate my ticket with the parking attendants (through a parking program), and the service is a hit-or-miss-- usually the former. I've gotten to know a few of the friendly ones now since I park here more often than I do at other lots. This place is more convenient and gives off a safer vibe.
They do have a good deal for SJSU students ($175/semester). Plus, it's right across from the MLK, so you don't have to walk far after a night of hardcore studying. Oh, and Flames is right there too. Happy hour, anyone?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Gatsby's G.Oak Harbor, WA10995Nov 12, 2009First to Review
I parked at this garage on 11/12/2009. When I returned to pay for my parking, I entered my stub into the payment machine. I paid with my credit card. The machine did not return my ticket, however. Instead, a red error message flashed, and I was forced to go to the parking/ cashier's office.
The lady I had to deal with was one of the rudest, most unprofessional creatures on the planet. She accused me of trying to steal by using an old receipt, one that someone else had left behind. When I tried to explain to her that the machine ate my ticket, she wouldnt listen. When I tried to show her my state-issued ID, with both name and photo, she ignored me. I should also mention that she was talking on her cell-phone and relaying personal information to whoever was on the other end. This employee was so rude to me. She wouldn't help me at all. She routinely accused me of lying.
So I ended up paying $3.75 and $15 for a "lost ticket" even though it wasn't my fault. I ended up paying $18.75 for a parking stay of one hour and forty minutes.
PARK HERE AND YOU WILL BE CHEATED!!!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - J P.Newport Beach, CA02Feb 21, 2020
Customer service is HORRIBLE. I tried contacting them several times through the 'contact us' page on the website and no one has returned back to me. I emailed customer care several times and received no replies. I even used the live chat feature on my account portal and the person said my account was cancelled and I would no longer be charged. However I am still being charged! When I called, they told me the account was not cancelled?? The person I chatted with literally said it was cancelled, so I don't understand what is going on. The person I spoke with on the phone told me I had to email them to request cancellation. Who knows if they will ever email me back at this point!! There is no way for me to even take my card off automatic payments. DO NOT PARK HERE!!!!! They make it impossible for you to cancel your account.

Located near San Jose State, its library and Flames this place is a good spot to park. Parking is free before 6? 7? on weekends. I was confused because I left around 6:45 and did not have to pay for parking. In looking at Gatsby's G.'s review the same thing happened to me.. but instead of taking it back to the cashier's office I just waited a minute and tried again.. the machine worked (thank goodness).
